As for trauma, Vernon did really dropped out of school during 8th grade. He actually also talked about how he was 'stared at' in school since he is half-korean, wherein back then he just wants to fit in and be seen as the same student as them. He may have lost some of his school friends when he started training, but now we know that he has many friends within the music industry, and a family which is seventeen. So it turned out well in the end. 😊
In Rolling Stones Lilili Yabbay version, Jun is actually doing the lowest harmony during most of the group harmonizing part and doing the highest possible falsetto at his own part. That’s the most impressive part to me. Jun has this very interesting vocal range. He can sing really low and airy, but at the same time he can do very high airy falsetto.
Pinwheel is a song inspired by Woozi's dream. He said that in his dream, there's a small pinwheel in the middle of a hill that looked really tranquil and peaceful, but he felt like that pinwheel is waiting for something/someone. He felt like he connected to that pinwheel, as if he was the one who is standing, and waiting for someone. 🍃🌾

I think one of the best things about Seventeen promoting in the West was how much they're confident in their songs that are not singles. They've performed from their whole catalogue, old songs or new, doesn't matter. They're all confident in their discography. Rightfully so too. They'll sing and perform anything they want, cause they all are incredibly versatile and have great songs to utilise their talents on.

since i'm a new carat, i still don't know too much information about somethings too, but here's what i know (or i suppose, at least LOOOL)! pinwheel was written by woozi after a dream he had and the members were all shocked because of this, since pinwheel is such a masterpiece (woozi musical genius? YES!); trauma's lyrics are supposed to represent each hip hop team member trauma/fear and was written by all 4 of them. i don't know exactly what are their traumas, but here's what i got froom the lyrics and from others carats suppositions (mingyu: scared of singing/showing his voice; vernon: scared of being lonely/forgotten; s.coups (scared of failing, pressured by the spotlight/idol life; and wonwoo: scared of losing himself); for the performance unit, i'm pretty sure the 4 of them helped with the choreography, and they also talked about how lilili yabbay was their unit "breakout" song, because after that they really found their unit true color/sound (and they absolutely ATE THAT choreo!!) thanks for the videos austin, this seventeen journey has been amazing so far

When you talked about rapper DK, I remembered that out of all 13, the main vocals (DK and Boo) are actually some of the members with the most onscreen instances of doing freestyle raps

The fact that Hip Hop unit write all their songs and all the rap lines in the group songs. And yes they rap live ALL THE TIME. If you watch their concert, even just clips or fancams, it's incredible. Hip hop unit needs more exposure tbh because SEVENTEEN's rap line is actually so so good. Also, one of the best HIP HOP Unit songs that you should DEFINITELY listen to is SPACE. with DK.

Your desire to see a rapper DK means you need to check out the unit swap stages (probably when you get a little more familiar with the units songs). Every year at caratland (our fanmeet) the units will perform each other’s songs, so some years we’ll get HHU covering vocal, sometimes we’ll get Performance covering HHU, sometimes we get vocal covering performance, sometimes it’s vocal unit doing HHU and HHU doing Performance and Performance doing Vocal. They are always a great treat and they are honestly such a treat to see the other units basically probing seventeen is a group of all rounder. Omggg thank you for this, i was literally refreshing ur channel since last night 🤣 This Rolling Stone performance of theirs is legendary. Hiphop unit had a bit of changes here compared to the recorded one. Which is why i really appreciate how the vocal team performed pinwheel normally, like the recorded version, instead of incorporating adlibs and higher notes and whatnot so that they wouldn't "outshine" performance team's performance. It's these kind of actions from seventeen that reallyy warms my heart. Cause they do their best to help promote their team as a whole, their units and their individual releases with utmost support from other members. Just goes to show how much they love and care for each other. And u don't even have to be a carat for yrs to notice how genuine they are to each other. When i was like a month old carat, their relationship with each other is what really made me continue to stan them.
Trauma is one of those songs that I personally feel hits better coming back to it. Like I know for me it took my brain some time to process the flow and different tones all together, but especially coming back to it the song hits

As a Performance Unit biased I was smiling all the time with all the praise in both videos, I think most of us consider Lilili Yabbay as the best PU song (it isn't even my favorite of theirs but I agree with that statement, this song and choreo are immaculate) and their facial expressions?!? uggghh so amazing!!! Speaking of hiphop unit singing live without backing track, you should see (even just in your own free time) their performance during Diamond Edge concert… they performed under the rain with a live band.
For the most part the bigger groups rap very well live Like SVT Ikon Got7 BTS EXO SHINee Monsta x they rap live very well with minimal backing track which makes them all incredible live I'm not gonna comment on groups I haven't watched live often like Stray Kids Ateez NCT because I just don't know but I would say yes a lot of rapper take the US hip hop approach and just say like half the verse which is sad for people who wanna here their fav rapper live but just here a backing track totally agree with you

Each of the units have their own bangers, but I really love "hug" from the vocal unit bcs I feel like everyone can relate to the lyrics. Omg Director's Cut is one of my top fave albums. Though it's just a special album, the title track THANKS is so good. The music video has a very beautiful message. And the choreography is so meaningful. The album is simple but very pretty and practical. Ah I love it.
