Ayyyye, nicely done with the pronunciations bro. Love your reactions and appreciation of our culture. A lot of us here in New Zealand grew up vibing out to Bob Marley, we literally were told that he was our uncle 🤣Bob Marley is definitely a huge Musical influence here. 🔥🔥Stan Walker just did an interview with Ziggy Marley/One Love Movie. ❤💛💚🖤 Stan is my favourite Artist and just makes me so proud to be Māori. Here are the translations but you are right, who needs them when you can connect to Music, it's just a vibe and language on its own. Much Love......English translation MĀORI INTO THE WORLD I am Māori. Forevermore I am Tūhoe Self-determined My language Is enduring. Inherited Lest you forget Who you are Who you’re descended from Your legacy Is of nobility Push Rise up Stand up Spread it far and wide Release The Māori language into the world I am a seed Who was sown In the mist Spring up Multiply The new generation Raise your heads Lest you forget Who you are Who you’re descended from Your legacy Is of nobility Push Rise up Stand up Spread it far and wide Release The Māori language into the world Lest you forget Who you are Who you’re descended from Your legacy Is of nobility Wasted indeed Our noble language would be Merely left idling The language like a flame Ignites the enduring fire Of the soul It is armouring that shelters Fostering true potential To take action is to live To hesitate is to die Rise, arise Be upright Push Rise up Stand up Spread it far and wide Release The Māori language into the world
When Marley came here in 1979, Stan wasn't born but no doubt his parents were at the one n only Western Springs concert ❤️💛💚🔥 along with tens of thousands of us and our Polynesian whānau (family) .... We had 2 defining protests here with the Māori Land March in 1975 and Bastion Point in 1977 to 78 and Bob was talkin revolution ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾 ... and reggae beats are pretty similar to the way we play guitars and sing anyway so it is easy for us to play, there are many great reggae bands here as there are in Te-Moana-nui-a-Kiwa, the Pacific Ocean and islands ... Stan is just a very humble Pāboy doing what comes natural to him with his powerful pipes and his blessed talented whānau, hapū and iwi .... As Māori, we all trace our whakapapa (geneology) back to our mountain, river and lands (those that weren't stolen by colonial forces) and we stand on the shoulders of our illustrious tīpuna (ancestors) and their knowledge passed down through Te Reo Māori me onā tikanga, our cherished language and philosophies .... Our tīpuna fought and died for our future against all odds, the colonisers tried to get rid of us and failed and each generation continues the fight for our #ManaMotuhake, our right to self governance and for #ManaMokopuna, power to our generations to come .... Enjoy 😊 ....he poho kererū mātou ki a Stan me ōna pukenga mīharo rawa atu💓.... We are so proud of Stan, Karawhiua ki te ao e kare ... PS ... The weapons are real, the white patu the woman hold are traditionally made from whale bone, the green patu made from our jade which we call Pounamu and the Taiaha carved from native trees ... They are deadly in the hands of those who know our martial arts, js ....
The Vowels aeiou are pronounced in Maori as: A = ah, E = eh, I = ee, O = ore (silenced r), U = ew. For example English word take say tah keh as one word. Reo say Reh ore as one word, O sounds like awe
@@alpha6gaming218 Kia Ora, Aotearoa speaks of an extremely old and denied word after colonization called alnd of the long white cloud, a twist of words. Its true meaning Ao = World Tea = Mist Roa = Long i.e. Long Mist WOrld. This speaks of a world currently denied of ALL peoples around the world not just in my culture, but yours also. I have made the call, many hear, few choose to listen
Thank you soo much for this! I absolutely looove this song and this video!! I've listened dozens of times already, on Stan's channel. It is fire, all right, with all the wonderful culturally enriching elements, Stan's ancestor-summoning voice, and Reggae beat, wow!! You have a new subscriber here! Cute puppy, too. Bless up! Mahalo from Kauai!!
Great attempt brother !!!! Better than alot of people even here!!, Try say Maori As 2x syllables rather than 3, so instead of Ma-o-ri, Try Mao-ri, it's a bit of a shitty comparison, but it's the easiest one I can think of 😅when you say the first syllable in Mao-ri,think of the Chinese dictator Mao Zedong, as the way you say the 'mao' part is very similar 😉loving the reacts, and the appreciation of our culture🤙
Kiaora great reaction to Stan . Another good Kiwi band is L.A.B . Proud man and Ocean Demon are just a couple of great songs be good to hear your reaction 👍
Notice how he pronounces Maori at the beginning of the song. Run the A and the O in a quick smooth run. It’s like that Chinese fella - Chairman Mao… now put ri. (reel - without the l) on the end of it. The Scottish pretty much say their “r” like we do. Ko te Maori ahau. - meaning “we are Maori.” Ko as in apple “core” but stop your sound after the o as this is a short sound. te - Ted without the “d”. Maori - as explained earlier. Ahau - as in “aha” with “oo” on the end. Make the “au” run smoothly together and stop fairly quickly as your mouth closes , stopping the sound of the “u” from continuing. Hope that helps. a, e, i, o, u - are our vowels and are sounded individually sometimes as a short sound, sometimes as a long sound depending on word meaning. a - as in the sound of the second “a” in “data”. e - as in the first “e” in ever I - as in the first “e” in eternal o - as in the first “o” in order u - the same sound as the “o” in “do”.
Kia-Ora (be well) my bro check out the movie...River Queen...based on an Irish female navigating the Maori world during the NZ wars between the British colonial REDCOATS in the 1840s-1860s...Be well
Stan being Christian would never stand with Hamas for what they did to Israel. We pray for the innocent people of Gaza, but you know what, people die in wars, and don’t ever forget that Hamas provoked it. Why is it always ok for every other country to defend themselves and not Israel and her Jewish people. Sounds like you need Jesus. Repent and be saved, in Jesus name. Amine.🙏🙏🙏
Māori are always united with the oppressed, no matter who they are. He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata! He tangata! He tangata! What is the most important thing in the world? It is people! ~ Ancient Māori proverb
Nah, while Tame did compare Tuhoe to Palestine in the BTS video, the meaning and intention behind the song is still about our land, language and culture.
