i'm finally reacting to SUNMI. grab a snack ya'll this is a long one! follow me - linktr.ee/dylansuxx uncut reactions - / dylanemily #SUNMI #선미 #REACTION background music by the amazing @Mewmore thank you so much for watching!
@@143szns there is a scene where she is running in slow motion towards the billboard and she jumps and falls. You can see her roll over and hold her knee. @10:55
I love that Sunmi's artistic vision is so clear in her music videos starting with gashina that you *immediately* clocked her as being the one leading their creation. She knew exactly what she wanted to do, and she pulled it off so well!
A clear distinction is how much her butt is emphasized. Even when going to collab with JYP recently he had to put his hand there. Like why dude? Let that ass go!
@@zinja0830 He didn’t even touch her lol, chill out. She’s a grown woman almost 30, she can make her own decisions and she knows what she is comfortable with.
her 'warning' ep with siren on it is straight up MASTERPIECE, especially b-sides like addict, black pearl, and secret tape (she dedicated that one to seulgi, so it's lesbian agenda right here)
I got the opportunity to see her tour, and I got to be part of a handtouch event, and I stood near the back out of panic because I've been following her since 24 hours era, I prepared a Korean sentence to talk to her and everything and when I tell you, I was SOBBING when talking to her so I was taking longer to say how much she inspired me, security were trying to push me along but she HELD ONTO MY HANDS TO LET ME FINISH. She was so kind and she cares about her fans so much.
the girl featuring in Full Moon is called Lena, she was supposed to debut in the original Twice line-up (then known as 6MIX) but left JYP after constant debut delays
@@thek-corner7278 I haven't found anything. I think after she left JYP she went back to studying in the US. She's had a couple of background roles in films and participated in Miss Korea 2015, so I think she's branching into acting/modelling than a singing career. Hopefully she'll come back to music in the future!
After like 5 hours or so I literally was thinking and the next thing I remembered about 2013 was bts debuted lmao. I couldn't genuinely remember anything else lmfao
@@ryujinsthirdeye169 same. i used all of 2013 to take in earlier kpop cause i got into it right after igab came out. my sense of time starts in 2014 lol
she writes, composes and decides concepts for her songs. And she is such an artist. You should watch her on variety shows and her behind the scene stuff
I find it weird how people see it as creepy. Sunmi is almost 30 and has known JYP for over 10 years. She’s a grown woman, she wouldn’t have done it if she didn’t feel comfortable. They are playing a role in the music video. She really adores JYP, she talks about him a lot and she has a good relationship with him even after leaving the company.
@@aspannas I do agree! She is an adult and can make her own choices. I have no problem with her accepting the project. I just personally can't get the image of her as a trainee out of my head. Maybe it is because I am old and Wonder Girls was the first group I really followed haha. But yeah, it is a me problem, not anything against Sunmi.
@@aspannas I also find it weird as to why they find it creepy, but I remember that people like to baby idols. People should remember that when you are an adult people will not treat you the same way they treat a teen or a child. I don't think any adult would like to be babied. They would finally want to be taken seriously in life. Things change yah know.
I love sunmi, she's a very talented artist. She even designed the outfits for her latest comebacks. Sunmi worked with the famous Paris-based designer, Kevin Germanier for her outfits in both 'Lalalay' and 'Pporappippam' comebacks
I was a Wonderful and HUGE SunMi fan so when JYP released that SunMi was going to debut solo with 24 Hours I remember driving to work and crying cuz I was just so damn happy and excited and she is now a fucking LEGEND as a solo ugh I love SunMi!
The cool thing about her song titles is that they're mostly puns in Korean! Gashina means both "leaving" and "pretty girl", but like in a derogatory, playful way. Lalalay is also pronounced as Nalari which basically means fuckboy, it's incredible!
your reaction to when we disco was gold got my ass actually laughing from you not smiling at jyp's intro alone. but the ending credit where he mentions the mv was inspired from his two favorite movies your reaction lmaao. You brought up Taeyeon so i feel obligated to let you know that sunmi was actually a HUGE taeyeon stan during her days in the wonder girls. Like blushing stuttering mess and would randomly bring up her infatuation on different interviews. Her members would even tease her about it. Anyway glad you enjoyed her music for the most part especially pporappippam. my favorite song of hers.
I still wondering why so many people actually weren't fond of LALALAY. It's my favourite Sunmi song. It's the anthem of being different when everyone around you follows the crowd. Even as a baby, I was different because teletubbies made me cry and metal music was the only music that would make me sleep. I'm good at drawing, especially butterflies. I had been drawing butterflies in a proffesional tattoo style ever since I was 12, and one of my teachers started calling me butterfly because I was always doodling them with my head in the clouds. LALALAY literally shook me because it felt like my anthem. Even the way the crowd started copying her in the end even though others ridiculed her for it first felt so relatable. I dyed my hair crazy colours before K-POP got huge and dip dye became a trend, got ridiculed for it. Was ridiculed for haing a plastic vampire bat when I was 4 or 5 years old, because I'm obsessed with vampires ever since the chilldren's horror comedy The Little Vampire. Got ridiculed, and parents were concerned. Not even a decade later, Twilight became a thing and even tiny children liking some Twilight merch was less concerning to parents then my bat was years before. LALALAY is the story of my life.
omg you're like the first reactor to gashina who UNDERSTOOD the story--the guy leaving the date halfway in the beginning, the tissues, her confronting him in his car at the end. you've earned my subscription damn
Fun fact chungha and sunmi became best friends after starring on weekly idol together and quickly became close during the filming and have stayed great friends since
There is a 4 episode (hour per episode) variety show called running girls, starring Chuu from Loona, Sunmi, Chungha, Hani from EXID and YooA from Oh my Girl. Its about them running together whilst living together and sharing things they couldnt share before. Very nice and touching show, lots of crying, heartfelt empathy and healing . Even if you dont react to it for youtube/patreon, its definitely something that would bring a smile to your face after a long day of work.
Gashina and Heroine were actually both written and produced by Teddy, so maybe that's why it Gashina sounded familiar. On another note, I used to think she says "the shame is coming" and not " the show must gone"...and I don't know, I kinda felt that line that she didn't actually say.
Between Full Moon and Gashina, in the 3 year gap, Sunmi returned to Wonder Girls, and that's when Wonder Girls came back as a 4-member band with the Reboot album and the Why So Lonely mini-album. Sunmi learned to play bass at that time. Dylan, I've watched your videos since the very early days of WG vs. SNSD. I'm really surprised you didn't know Sunmi.
The rapper girl in “Full Moon” is Lena, a former JYP trainee. she was supposed to be featured in the survival show that formed TWICE. however she was either cut or she entirely left.
The repeatedly separated love (?) was JinYoung Park, the CEO of JYP, aka one of the Big 3 entertainment agencies in S. Korea. He was an idol/performer himself before founding the company, and he likes to keep his hand in on the performance side on occasion.
Sunmi is so talented and hardworking! She originally strived to become an idol because her father was ill and they had a lot of medical bills to pay in addition to his lack of income. She has two younger brothers she helped to take care of, too, until she left to be a trainee and her brothers had to try to take care of their dad. I don't know what was exactly wrong with their dad, but he had to be hooked up to a breathing apparatus and was bedridden. Her dad died a few months before her debut, unfortunately.
Man I WISH she was an actress. One can only hope with all the singers that go into acting eventually... I would love some movies or even a drama with her. :S
Sunmi also has a song named Gotta Go that was a OST for the Drama XX and its a banger. Totally diferent style! If I remember correctly Sunmi said this was a song that she wanted to release as a single but the company thought it wasn't the best concept for her. Anyways, I don't know if you would like the song but its just a fun fact and also good to watch bc we get to see this fierce and powerfull side of her
Can we thank teddy park for producing gashina and heroine for sunmi because this songs literally blew up her popularity after she left JYP and it’s still iconic even until now
Ok this is crazy. I was just thinking about how I used to watch your videos back in the day when I first became a SONE and then you literally popped up in my recommendations. Crazy, but glad to see you're still making content!
Two more solo artists to look into: the mellow, often jazzy stylings of Heize, and the powerful fierceness of AleXa. How's that for a study in contrasts?
