The idols are phenomenal. And I love how Shiver takes inspiration from traditional japan, Frye take a more middle eastern inspiration, and Big man takes what seems to be a Brazilian carnival motif. They’re soooooo good. I can’t t wait.
I agree with you that lockers are better than an apartment- not only is it a good way to test out that kind of feature on a smaller scale, but this way, you can easily see others’ little spaces without having to… stage a home invasion or whatever.
@@regularhooman1568 how? it actually makes more sense to have it come later, it would be like a space upgrade to decorate with the items you got for your locker. also if it was released in the dlc by that time people would have a lot of items to put in it
@@tsu08761e although it may seem like an upgrade due to “more space= more creativity”, this could also lead towards another direction where you can only really put posters or small items down inside your apartment unlike the lockers from what we’ve seen so far
Deep Cut is so wonderful. I wanted Diss-Pair, but I have to admit, it wouldn’t have been nearly as good. (Especially seeing Paruko’s… model.) They’re brilliantly designed, they’re all so Gender, their music rules. I love them. I especially love how Shiver and Frye are a very traditional idol duo design-wise, what with their fire and ice theme… and ALSO BIG MAN IS HERE.
Ooh i never thought about diss-pair before, especially with Warabi, but yeah Deep Cut is very gender. Harmony’s design looks ok, but I agree Sheldon looks a bit… off.
i think paruko harmony looks weird cause they made her less pale which is fine but it made the contrast between her skin and hair/eyelashes weird and in the album covers her eyelashes are a different color than her hair but they made them the same here on another note: PRAYING diss-pair comes back in some way please please even if its just two more songs from them
I am IN LOVE with how diverse the character deisgns are. Their body shapes and colors are so amazingly wonderful,, and i was about to say this - i was talking to a friend about Fryes design, and we realized that having a big forehead is probably a beauty standard in the Splatoon culture! Though, I could be wrong! THIS IS SO COOL THOUGH AAA CANT WAIT!!!
@@Blueturtle1 Check out Caitlyn Koi's last community post. She talks about how the reason that Frye has that large a forehead is because in India it is a sign of having lots of knowledge. Apparently they find that an attractive quality. (Frye is based on Indian culture btw)

Okay, really far-fetched theory/goo brained ramblings ahead, but I have some thoughts on Frye. Due to her sharper/longer than average fangs and long, almost crescent shaped ears, I think Frye might be a vampire squid?? And, yes, I know, vampire squids aren't actually squids, but considering other cephalopods like octopodes and possibly cuttlefish have evolved the exact same way as squids, I don't think it's out of the question that there could be other yet to be seen species that also evolved into this "___-ling" type of species. And, seeing as vampire squids are deep sea creatures, this could mean that her and Shiver came from the deep sea metro after the events of Octo Expansion, which would make sense since we do see the deep sea jellyfish in Splatsville as well as a possible larger influence from Kamabo Co. if the sea-cucumber phones are connected to them! Buuuut the massive wrench in this whole idea is the fact that they apparently have a LOT of connection to Splatsville's history and culture, which means they were probably born and raised on the surface, soooooo, aside from Frye's appearance, there goes, like, a majority of my evidence for this idea, lmao. STILL, no matter what, I'm excited as hell to learn more about Deep Cut and their history and I'm equally excited to see the rest of the fandom's thoughts and theories on them leading up to the game's release! OKAY, rambling over, also Melody my beloved!!!!!!!!
The city *did* develop most of its recent history in a short timespan and the fact that they are called *Deep* Cut could make for a good joke that I definitely feel they would make

I would like to bring to attention Shiver's age. If the first Calamari and second Calamari were 5/7 years ago, then thay means that Shiver would have escaped Octarian society at around the age of 11-17 years old.
Frye's design reminds me more of the unnamed cuttlefish idols from octo expansion that anything else. (Go check Inkipedia to see what I mean) Also it is canon that cuttlefish evolved like inklings, in fact they look almost identical. Also, before someone asks Callie, Marie, And Craig Cuttlefish are not cuttlefish. They have been referred to as inklings multiple times and their squid forms have been seen. (Super Mario Maker and Miitomo for Callie and Marie, and splatoon 1's credits drawings for Cap'n Cuttlefish)

Looks like we failed to cancel Paruko, she has a whole dang shop now. Well, I mean she doesn’t WORK there, but that’s still a lotta dang cash we’re giving her for these locker apartments. Bought herself a 3D model with that dough and everything. I do hope we get to see more 2D-styled characters make their 3D debut, I know Harmony’s model looks kinda crusty but I love seeing more weird sea creatures get the spotlight! Dude, if we get Tangle Bottom as a 3D model I’m gonna flip, you have no idea.

So hear me out. Splatoon 1: Introduces the inkling, and their inkling idols, The squid sisters Splatoon 2. Off the hook introduces an octoling idol, and a playable octoling. Splatoon 3, Introduces, an Inkling and Octoling idol, AND a *Manta Ray* idol.... Think about it...
I love how much the idols push the boundaries of what Inklings and Octolings can look like in the Splatoon universe. They really stand out from the previous idols in terms of design, and imo it makes them more memerable
Paruko having a 3D-model was the greatest Info of the direct for me. I wanted it but never thought it would happen and now I´m just happy, that my favorit band and my favorit bandmember of it got some love. That Direct was so much better than I thought, not perfect but the whole feeling was really well made!
Seeing Harmony from Chirpy Chips was a highlight for me and the emotes too!Hammerhead, Mahi, Flounder, the Splatana was INSANE and of course the IDOLS!!! 3-WAY Splatfests are gonna be chaotic 🤩
This is the first time I've loved the designs of both Idols as a first impression. I didn't like Callie or Marie at first, and I had to learn to love Pearl. I already love Shiver and Frye, and we even got Big Man too!

I just got off watching a more formal video on yer channel to this and the difference in tone was even funnier than I could imagine, went from calm and collected to the embodiment of pogging
So at 10:30 those fish seem to be coming from the same place we’ve seen salmon eggs being held during the single player trailer…. I could be wrong on this but I feel like somethings gonna go awry and those eggs will hatch Edit: I remember seeing someone else point out that they look eel like, so I’m raising that as a possibility as to what’s going on with that clip, and if that is the case then frye will definitely be involved since her family are moray eel users.
Something I noticed is that in none of the promotional material have we seen Splatsville's Great Zap Fish, wish makes me believe we're in for something thankfully a lot different in the new campaign idk what they're using for power (maybe power eggs?) if not Zapfish, but we'll have to wait and see ig

i have a theory that the dlc is a battle royal mode. if this is the case it would make sense to be dlc because normally those are usually standalone games and they might still be developing it. if theyd tried to include that the base game it couldve made the dev time way longer with no splatoon content, or if they released it before people would think its replacing turf war. (or it could be open world single player?)
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe this is the first time Nintendo has used the distinction “Large-Scale” in regards to DLC. They’ve made it clear when it’s free or not, but scale is something I believe they have not spoken of upfront yet.

I really like how harmony looks! There are quite a few changes that I noticed, in her 2d design and compared to other characters in the game. Compared to her 2d char, her skin is slightly darker, and her eyes are lighter. Compared to other models, her hair is less shiny, her movements are stiff, and she is probably the most skiny character in the game. Some of these things might put people off on the design, but overall, I like that they are trying new things!

I watched it at 6AM pacific west time and had to go to my morning shift afterwards too lol I downloaded the test fire and pre-ordered Splatoon 3 right after this direct I'm super hyped! The livestream that I caught that day, everyone in the chat was split on positive and negative so I'm glad to see you guys are as excited and happy as I am about this. The person who was streaming DARED say that he thought salmon run was an unnecessary return.. what a twit I love salmon run. I'm just sad that I wanted to be on Shiver's team and literally everyone in the chat was going for Big Man's... I was kind of taken aback by some of the things it featured and I agreed with some of the negative things said in the chat but overall I don't care, I love the game!
I honestly didn’t mind that tenta missiles returned but I played Splatoon 2 again and dealing with tenta missiles were a hassle to deal with so I understand the disappointment of some fans.

I HAVE A THEORY ON WHAT BIG RUN IS IN THE LORE. (Almost certainly false) Yknow how scroll 17 (splatoon 2) is about salmon run, and how the pink fish devour the creatures of the land, the thing is, in splatoon 2 you always play on small deserted islands, also the only creatures that the salmonids can attack from there are you and your coworkers, certainly not EVERYONE. but in big run, SALMONIDS ARE ON THE MAINLAND (Which means they can splat civilians) which fits WAY better with what the scroll says, if the big run stages have seven rings in the sky, I would say this theory is true. TLDR: Big run is scroll 17 in splatoon 2.
