Well, those were some interesting ways to save to say the least. These are so fun to react to, let me know down below what else you want me to react to! Appreciate you guys! Have an amazing day! Socials & Merch: linktr.ee/Kallmekris
Yup, that was just ridiculous! You can dumpster dive behind the hardware store or one of those reclamation building supply places and get 90% of the stuff they were too lazy to replace. Heck there’s free couches and furniture all over the place if you look for it. The fact that they have nothing just shows how lazy they are. Also being cheap doesn’t mean being filthy!
Carpet patching is a thing, but normally it's done when the home owner has leftover pieces from when the carpet was installed so it actually matches and doesn't look like Frankenstein's monster
As a woman, I believe that being frugal and mindful with your spending is important, especially when you don't have a lot of money. However, when you have the means to live comfortably and provide for yourself and your family, there is no reason to continue being an extreme cheapskate. In my opinion, it's okay to be a cheapskate when you're struggling financially, but once you've achieved financial stability, it's important to live a balanced life and enjoy the benefits of your hard work. It's important to find a balance between saving money and enjoying the fruits of your labor. Being excessively frugal can lead to missing out on important experiences and opportunities, and can also strain relationships with loved ones.
What really irritated me about these Extreme Cheapskates is they seem to find the MOST RIDICULOUS ways to SHOW they are cheap. You can be smart with your money and your expenses and diy stuff without it being in your face and over the top. The pool thing for one, instead of using the pool water to wash the dishes, they can use it to water the plants or flush the toilet or clean the driveway. Anything but using it on plates you have to eat on. At this point, I am 75% convinced that they care more about LOOKING cheap than actually saving money.
I genuinely worked with a carpet fitter who knew how to sew join carpet together and made himself a patchwork carpet out of Axminster samples. They were old patterns that were no longer sold so he took them and made himself a full Axminster carpet, worth thousands, for free. Though tbf, it looked a hell of a lot better than the one in these videos 😂
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for fixing, mending and refurbishing things. But fuck, these people… How, how that lovely girl stayed for the entire date without faking an emergency, I’ll never know. “We only flush once a week” “Oh yeah? Oh hell, I’m so sorry, it looks like my house is on fire and flooding too. Nice meeting you”
I heard about a girl so desperate to get out of a date, she had her sister call and pretend to be in labor and she needed her sister right then! Not sure exactly how she communicated the ‘need you to do this crazy but believable thing’ but it worked!
It’s amazing how purchasing quality in the first place can save you hundreds in the long run. I still use the pots and pans that my Mom purchased in the 80’s. 😂
Maintaining any item over time is usually cheaper than replacing items when they break down. I mean if you clean your furniture regular and shampoo your carpet every few months it lasts at least twice as long
My mom just passed and when the grief get to overwhelming I watch your videos for a while and you genuinely make me laugh. It's my lifeline right now. Don't ever change kris
“Maybe that’s how they got there, by being cheapskates.” 100% correct. I can’t remember who said it, but someone said “Single digit millionaires are not rich, they’re worried,” and it’s completely true.
"I want a girl to like me for me" Honey, no. Flushing the toilet once a week and stealing your date's food isn't a personality. You're just sad. You want a relationship, learn to make sacrifices for her, no one's gonna want to sacrifice all their shit for you.
This should WAY more likes than it does. First thing that popped into my head after he said that - "nobody is going to like you for you. Sorry, fella."
A toilet tank lever is less than 20 bucks at Rona. 🙄🤦🏻♀Not having a working toilet in that house would give me anxiety. I would've had my husband change it for a new one.
I TOTALLY understand second hand embarrassment, that's why some of these reality shows are too much for me. Thanks for making them entertaining Kris! Oh and thanks for the compliment Pete, I needed that today🙂
I'm 40, and never knew what to call it when I'm embarrassed for/with someone👁👄👁 It's so obvious now🤦🏼♀️ I'm sure someone has secondhand embarrassed for me admitting this🤣🙋🏼♀️
SO THATS WHAT ITS CALLED !!! I feel it all the time when i’m watching movies i can’t see some scenes in movies i already watched because i get so embarrassed when the character is doing something stupid
I just wonderfully stumbled on your videos and I love you! Your absolutely great and funny and REAL. You took away depression and gave me smiles…! I subscribed obviously. Thank you Kris❤🎉
I too struggle deeply with second hand embarrassment…. You know that cringy, awkwardly embarrassing scene in a movie? I’m the one covering my ears and burrowing my face into a pillow while cringing *so* hard
Exactly! Their “repairs” lowered their property value to the point they should have just spent the damn money. A full floor of cheap carpet is better then piece work of any type of carpet.
The secondhand embarrassment was STRONG with me lol! The Dollar store has sets of dishes and pots/pans for less than $20-$30, they sell plastic AND glass cups too...
Go to target now and they have college dorm sets of silverware, dishes, pans...hell, I found individual plates for .50¢. might be plastic but we have a total of $20 spent on all silverware and dishes for a group of eight. You don't have to spend a lot to have things look nice
“Here. Is. Your. One. Rib?” There is a line between saving money and endangering health? Like, my mom goes on Facebook market place and finds furniture for cheaper/free. Or thrift stores. And also, literally using a fucking cup is the same thing as what that dude was doing? But better? We have cups from when I was a baby. 20+ years old. Buy a cup. Buying one thing, and using it for years is both more cost effective and sustainable. (It also would have been less expensive for him to buy a larger tub of unflavored yogurt and use one of his jelly packs to flavor a bowl) I just. Fight me.
sometimes i will literally turn something off if it’s too awkward or embarrassing, that’s how much i get second hand embarrassment. i feel your pain kris 😂
When I’m watching a movie or show for the first time and there’s something awkward, I can deal with it because I don’t know what will happen. But if I’m watching something again, than ya. I do that
What she said about her cheapskate date: "Nice guy over all." What she actually meant: "This once-a-week-flushing, kid-menu-rationing, clothes-while-showering psycho should be on every woman's "Oh hell no!" dating blacklist.
Did you notice that when he asked for a second date, she was like yeah I had a good time; thanks for taking me out. She avoided his question because she didn't want to go out with him again
I didn't grow up in a fancy home nor was my mom money rich, however she wouldn't go this far. And since I work at a Goodwill store, I can easily buy her new cheap stuff such as furniture, dish set, shower head, etc. These cheapstake clips made me cringed especially Greg's date, lol😂 Great video before bed time. 🥂💗
You could see the anger on that poor girl's face. She didn't deserved such a horrible date. She was just being nice. And you can tell on her face that she wanted to say so many things but just tried really hard to bottle them in. He will forever be alone. And he desserves it.
As someone whos worked in retail in the flooring department, you NEVER want to get “sections” of carpet replaced because you run into the issue of needing to obviously replace all the carpet. A new carpet roll may be the same color, make model brand ext. but the “dye lot” may be different by a slight difference that it’s unnoticeable until it’s placed next to each other (ex. Carpet samples) this creates a significant difference thus making your home look…cheap… if you do it the way like this family wants. Just spend the $1K-3K it’ll take (depending if it’s sold by the yard or foot) to avoid this shit 8:18
Compared to Canadian prices it probably seems cheaper in the States, but keep in mind how much our healthcare costs and how little we are paid. It evens out.
i had took a girl out once, she was really hungry. i spent about 60$ on just her. but was so good to see her satisfied with the food. "turned out she was sick and the meds she was taking made her lose her apatite" we were together for about a year and a half
TLC presents: well off families who act cheap. everyone in lower middle class (bordering poverty) Well, not us! everyone below the poverty line: Who's going to tell them??
Yeah like it’s way bigger than my house but I’m not a cheapskate to THAT extreme most I would do is not use a lot of toothpaste, make my own meals because sometimes it’s wayy cheaper and tastier, and not leave lights on while I’m out or not leave water running like I would not wash my dishes in pee water 🤣
That neighbor lending her furniture must have been in a terrible dilemma: tell them what they deserve "F.off!" or make a small investment to get rid of those neighbors sooner. After all, if she helps them sell, they will be gone for good...
Kris: he 's got a shower head,10 points for Jamie ! 3 seconds later, Jamie takes shower with clothes Kris: short sharp gasp, showers with his clothes on -12,000 points for Jamie
I have to give that girl a standing ovation .. when she was ordering she looked like she was dying inside but she powered through and remained polite and tried not to judge. I just hope she never had to see him ever again. 'Cheapskate' isn't the right word for these people. I hesitate to use the word I want but really... that guy's closet had about $300+ worth of t-shirts alone but he 's using yogurt containers for drinks? Wears his clothes while showering? Can you imagine the stains and parts where the soap wasn't washed out enough... blech
You know the whole thing about furniture being expensive? Yeah… when I got my own place I furnished it completely (minus my bed) for about $300 by shopping at thrift stores. You don’t have to live like that just because you don’t wanna spend 20k, there’s being frugal and there’s making life hard on yourself because you’re ignorant when it comes to reasonable ways to save money.
The first date I ever went on the guy literally said "I don't have a lot of money do you mind ordering off the kids menu?". Not wanting to be rude I said no problem, when the server came to take our order he ordered a full sized adult meal and ate the whole thing. I had a grilled cheese sandwich and like 10 fries lol.
@crazycreaturestudios3895 Girl I'm amazed at that fact too. I would've went to the bathroom praying that it had a window large enough for me to sneak out of. That guy is a cocky rude little butthole. That guy was a nightmare and a half. He looked like if someone (probably the cheapscape family) combined a shaved toothbrush and a thumb together.
My question is, where tf is his money going? He lives rent free, collects money from roomates, has a job, does medical studies. Where tf is his money? Is he just stockpiling it? For what? You can't take it with you when ya die
@@erinpurdeyif anything, it should have been the opposite! If he really was struggling (which is fine) but could afford a full meal for himself, he should have let her get a full meal and ordered off the kids menu himself
I’m glad I’m not the only one who gets secondhand embarrassment, there’s some parts of shows I have to skip or leave the room during because of it and my family gets so confused.
omg i get it just all the time like literally all my friends know it and my family xD i just start like screaming or running down the halls or going into comments and spamming the skip button because i get so embarresed
My family wasn’t wealthy, we shopped at thrift stores, yard sales, and grew/raised our own food. Definitely frugal, but the biggest difference I see is Dignity perhaps? And yes I do feel the second hand embarrassment 😫 it hurts.
Mary on Richard's phone That's the way I was raised but my mom made it fun and said that we were the rich people because we had money left over at the end of the week because of our frugality My brother and I washed windows if we wanted to extra pair of shoes I started a sidewalk crack cleaning service and got paid to maintain it I just made sure every house I approached was on my way to school so maintaining was stooped down grab that stupid weed and be done for the month easy money we had to use our brains we straightened out nails and sold them back to the same contractors that bent them owner of the building company noticed we were doing it and told us to sell them to him and he paid us three times what a new nail would be because we were so enterprising so now don't feel shame because you're smarter than everybody else now and you can survive a financial catastrophe a whole lot better than the rich folk who have their money all tied up and you know how to grow your own food so you're healthier if you don't use any chemicals we never use chemicals couldn't afford them so we had to get out at night with a light and catch the insects at night before they ate our food hugs to you honey
Agreed, to say you want to live a simple lifestyle and not have a high cost of living but then want to sell for a bigger house, why? There house is beyond practical for the size of their family and they don't utilize the space they have so they want a larger more empty home? So impractical and their practices don't actually seem effective at living low cost. Smaller house, garden instead of grass, thrift or purchase high quality items and you can live a lower cost lifestyle that is in no way tacky like this
@@tessadieter1201 I think they’re thinking of investment perhaps? Makes no sense to me because actual bare dirt/land IMO is a better investment. But that’s me.
As a handyman watching this I am so confused as to their reactions to the cost. Salvaged shower head is 5-10 bucks, carpet can be repaired/treated or bought salvaged as well and most people have a half full can of paint they would sell or give away for that fence. A .25 cent bracket would fix the lean in that fence too. Hell, I just refinished an entire hotel pool for well under what they were estimating the furniture cost to be. All that said anyone with minor handyman skills would love to buy that home to fix up!
If they live in that expensive house but can’t afford basic furniture or repairs, they clearly are living outside their budget. That isn’t being a cheapskate, that is living outside one’s means.
@@tyronekracht461 that was sort of my point. I was taking them at their words to show that they shouldn’t be in that house if they can’t make such simple repairs.
@@natashamiller4860 You’re completely missing the point here, and also- there’s a HUGE difference between can’t and won’t. You’re failing to grasp the cheapskate concept. These people clearly have money and are choosing not to spend it on things they don’t deem as necessary or “worthy”. I don’t think for a minute they’re living outside their means. I think they’re idiot savants who pick and choose where to spend their money. They can afford a nice big house and they can afford to furnish it nicely if they wanted to, but they think its a waste of money. They’re definitely the type who has plenty of money to take a nice vacation, so they do- they’ll spend a small fortune flying to hawaii but then they get the smallest room in a mediocre hotel, make the kids sleep on the floor and “cook” all of their meals out of the in room kitchenette because they don’t want to spend money on “frivolous” lodging and restaurants because they consider it a waste. But then they’ll happily spend a bunch of money on activities/experiences. Unfortunately I’ve known people like this. They don’t see value in maintenance expenses, preventative expenses, or non essential repairs (shower head, carpet, fence paint) so they spend as little as possible on those things and then splurge in other areas. None of the people I know who have done this are living outside their means. None have debt outside of a mortgage and occasionally a car payment (but paying interest is wasteful so they prefer to purchase vehicles outright vs financing them). I’m not saying I agree with it, I’m actually quite opposed. But its not the same as living outside their means.
@@nicholem4831 no I am not missing the point. I very much agree with you. I was looking at the way they act…they act as if they are not capable of fixing those basic, necessary repairs. And my point is that logic works no better because if you can’t afford to maintain your home, you are living outside your means in the very same way that just not wanting to is equally wrong. Either excuse falls short. THAT is my point. What I was doing was using logic to show the holes in their reasoning of their position.
Yeah seriously. This family clearly isn't broke and this behavior... it has to be staged, right? There's no reason for this. There's frugal, and then there's dumb. This is for shock value.
For real I grew up in a bright yellow 2 bedroom single wide trailer with 5 siblings I slept in my parents room until 13 then I was the only kid under 18 and got the other bedroom to my self the bathroom floor under the washing machine rotted out you could see the water heater behind the sink it's like dude these people in fancy houses oh cheapskates yea 🙄
Yeah, really. My grandma would buy a $10 dresser at a yard sale and somehow make that thing look like $100. These people would buy a $100 dresser and make it look like $10!
My dad sometimes works in demolition, and we haven’t bought brand new chairs and sofas because we have got second hand ones that were perfectly good. We didn’t get a huge play ground it our backyard and we wash our dishes normally.
