People saying raptors won the trade. Yes we needed a guard for the future but OG is one of the best 2 way players in the game. We’re getting a nice 6th man in return with quickely, but really what has RJ done except be a disappointment? Shooting 42% this year is not cutting it. Hopefully being in Canada can revitalize his career but i have little hope for him. I hope I’m wrong
I mean OG had a 1 year deal, its better to have a 4 year player RJ than lose like how we lost fred, 42% shooting is good, most players hit less than 42% but he also plays good defense, i personally think he’s gonna ball out in Toronto it’s defintely a steal, we also got a solid PG, plus they’re both young
Good roundup on the trade. Thanks. Gonna miss OG that guy works so hard. Unfortunately hes never been able to put the ball on the floor. Precious is so frustrating to watch. RJs contract is reasonable and Im so stoked to have IQ.
@@deanoss777raptors fan here who loves OG. OG is a little better at the moment but it will likely not be true in a year or two. As much as I love OG he will not get much better, he is already at his ceiling. IQ and to a lesser extent RJ both have more growth potential ahead of them. IQ and RJ are likely much better than OG in the long run.
@@TKBKNY I think they need another player who can average 25+ a game like Mitchell and Ik that’s unlikely and Ik they got randle but you don’t know what your going to get from him
OG hasn't really had his head in it for the last few games. He probably knew he was likely to get traded. If he's trying, he's definitely among the best defenders in the league.
if your a raptor fan you want to pile up picks and hope to get lucky in the draft. this trade doesnt do anything for them unless they trade RJ for picks which you wont.
Both teams won imo, but raptors won more. Og was on his last year. They got an amazing player in quickly and they have barret who is still very inefficient, but he’s on the raps now. He’s Canadian so hope he can thrive there, quickley is awesome, star in the making. Knicks got a piece they wanted and needed, still need a superstar imo. But og is very good, both trades help their timelines I’m just questioning og off season choice.
Everyone on here is saying Raptors won the trade but they basically got Quickley and a second for OG, Achiuwa and Flynn after demanding 2-4 firsts for OG earlier this season 😂
Imo Raptors won big. Happy RJ is back home in Toronto n Raptors might allow him to reach his true potential. Btw happy my Magic won against Knicks in the highest ever attendance game in Orlando history.
I think its funny the Raptors wouldn’t trade Og for Dame but they accept this😂. Raptors what happened to we want 5 frp for Og cause that’s how much they valued him.
$25 mil for quickley super over pay if they do that. I get with the cba going up you kinda have to pay him more but he’s not going to be a lead guard on a team.
I see the raptors as absolute winners here. RJ needs to develop his game, he's coming home, Quickley of course AMAZING sixth man and might even crack into the starting lineup, and also an extra pick. They only give up achiuwa and flynn who dont have potential, and OG is in a sort of plateau for me, he ain't gonna solve New York's problems (they should get a center).
Lml rj needs to develop his game “says every knick fan for 5 years” so knicks get HANDSDOWN the best player involved but the raptors are the absolute winners 😂 whew
@@andMango5483 I guess if sucking means having the 3rd best record in the entire league, having 2 of the top 75 best players of all time and having an elite scoring and play making wing.
I promise u og has reached his ceiling as an offensive player, he has no handle, even the way he moves looks clunky, he’s a defensive superstar and great shooter but that’s his ceiling
They got Brunson. Only slightly less stats than Spyda on better efficiency. The numbers are a wash but add in Brunson's superior leadership, more friendly contract and what it would need to score Mitchell, he's a better option than Spyda IMO
Og can guard anybody. I tell you this as a Raptor fan. This man in his rookie year locked up Houston James, players like Dame, Giannis, Durant, and Luke recently said he was an amazing defensive player, and Dame also wanted him in Portland, so Og is just an amazing defender. Like, a couple weeks ago, he shut down Giannis, and Giannis got asked, How did Og limit your game tonight? and his I don’t even know. And most of all his clutch he will knock down a 3 in big moments, his done it for us all of the time
Take whatever raptors fans say with a grain of salt. They are fans and talk like fans. They nearly chased Kawhi in his bathroom the day of his decision. Let the man poop for goodness sake.
It was like the James Harden situation. IQ talent outgrew the direction the team was going. Make no mistake about it. They needed an All NBA level defender at the 3 spot. Plus he is a better 3pt shooter. It’s a win win tbh
I really like this trade for both sides. Knicks get a win now piece and a nice bench piece. I now think they are one good move away from being true contenders. On the other side, the raptors lean more towards the scottie barnes timeline and get two guys that I think both have untapped potential and can flourish with a bigger role which I have to imagine they will get in toronto. Not to mention the 31st pick and the fact that RJ is back home in canada which might lead to a little extra motivation for him. Overall, think this trade will work out for both teams, but only time will tell.
Now as a raptor fan all I want for pascal is expiring contracts and 1st rounders because to lose og and siakam and not get 1 1st would be a disaster so now I just want picks
Trade is pretty even for both sides. It's good for the Raptors long-term, and it's good for the Knicks short term, long-term if they can convince OG to resign in the offseason. The Knicks likely weren't going to resign IQ and give him the money he would command, considering the situation with Brunson, so instead of letting him walk for nothing, they used him for trade capital. They also have Grimes on the roster. Knicks giving up a 2nd rounder, which is basically a late 1st rounder, isn't the end of the world either. I'd feel a lot differently if they HAD given up a 1st. Then I'd confidently say this was a fleece, as it is now, I don't see it that way. OG is a great fit defensively and as well as efficiency in terms of 3pt shooting from the wing. The Knicks need that, he's filling a relatively big need for the team and will produce immediately. In my view, this is obviously the first move in a larger scheme that the Knicks front office is trying to do. Quickley is a solid player, but he really should be getting a larger role to continue developing and he'll get that in Toronto. With the Knicks having Brunson, he was always going to be relegated to the bench. The Knicks need consistent production from someone in the starting lineup who ISN'T Jalen Brunson. OG gives them that. As well as perimeter defense. I've never thought Julius Randle was that dude for the Knicks. Especially if he keeps disappearing in big games. As far as RJ goes, while he's still young, he really hasn't developed at the pace that I think a lot of people in NY expected him too, both the organization and fans. Both in terms of his 3pt shooting and his ability to use his right hand more, everyone knows he's going left all the time. With the contract the Knicks gave him, they needed more and it was very obvious that he was gonna be used as a key trade piece in some kind of future move. I don't know if the Knicks are gonna make another trade before the deadline, I think they're probably hoping to land a big player in free agency, whether that's Donovan Mitchell like they've wanted for years now, or someone else. The Knicks getting OG is great, but they're still 1 big piece away from being a contender in my view. And that piece has to be an all-star level talent I think. Whether it's a big time scoring 2 guard or scoring big man, that's what they need the most imo.
If the Knicks get a superstar out of this then the trade was clearly set up for that loosing one of the best backups in the league in quickley hurts tho he deserves that starting role tho he’s that good
Barrett has what I call Baker Mayfield Syndrome. He cannot take an easy shot, everything has to be difficult. Someone needs to teach him how to just take the easy layup instead of trying to dribble through 3 guys
Ppl really complain abt losing a 6 man lol who didn’t even win an couldn’t even crack the starting 5 an chocked in the playoffs twice yall really gonna give a bench player star money this is so funny also the guy jack up dumb shots stop complaining gzz starting to see why other fan base laugh at us we always place delusional expectations on guys an trades stop with this Mitch narrative he’s a undersized guard we seen wat happened in Cleveland how that’s working out
Sad to see O.G. leave but happy even more. His main problem is he does 1 bad play for every 2 good ones all of the time, so frustrating. He is an excellent defender and rebounder, but then he will trip over the line on offense, watch you will see it happen. Trading away Precious and Flynn also makes me so happy for the Raptors. So for me those 3 was like a wish come true.
As a Knicks fan, I hate that tibs continuously shows that he won’t develop players. Constant frustration because coaches come and go but a generational scorer like IQ was just sat on the bench and will do so well in Toronto. Wish him the best but the Knicks will Knick
masai could redeem himself with this trade. sad to see achiuwa go but he needs a coach that can control that raw power, which sometimes makes him look so bad and all over the place. i hope knicks and develop precious.....
Getting O.G AND Precious is huge for the Knicks. They can now defend any team with multiple big wings. Precious is almost as good as O.G defensively. Good luck beating them now smh
Precious is no where near OG in anything basketball related, he doesn't have the basketball IQ required to be a top tier defender and is undersized for his position
@13strandquistc Precious is very close to O.G defensively, yes he's ab idiot but he can defend multiple positions jus like O.G. Your gonna be salty come playoff time when you see Precious and O.G locking up the bigger wing players.
