Tarja was and still is amazing. After being fired from Nightwish, she went on to a very successful solo career. She and Marco reunited in December of 2017 and buried the past. They are friends, once more.

One very important thing to know about this show is that Tarja was actually very sick with both the flu and a throat infection and couldn’t even sing earlier that day in rehearsals. So the fact that she pulled out THIS kind of performance and sang so beautifully through the whole concert is doubly incredible!

This concert was 2005 , which explains the lack of cell phones. This was in Helsinki and was Tarja's last show with the band. She was the only one on stage that didn't know that. After the show ,they gave her the open letter dismissing her from the band. Floor has never sung this with Nightwish. She did sing this on the Dutch TV show Beste Zengers with Henk Poort (Dutch Phantom). Henk was supposed to joined them in The Netherlands to do this, but postponements happened when the world shut down. I've heard that Andrew Lloyd Weber, who wrote the song, called this his favorite, or one of his favorite, versions of the song. Another song from this show is their cover/tribute of Pink Floyd's High Hopes in which Marko is lead vocal (Tarja was off stage for a wardrobe change).

Yes, yes, yes! "Dead Boy's Poem" From Wishes to Eternity concert (2000) will blow your mind! Tarja is in her element. It is a legendary performance.

I think I must have gone back to the ending 15 times in a row the first time I witnessed this. I became an instant Tarja groupie and Nightwish fan.

For old Nightwish with Tarja i strongly suggest just going through the "From wishes to Eternity" concert, that thing just shows to perfection why so many people loved them when they came out. I think that Tarja is spectacular and most people only keep the songs that she sang with Nightwish but she has a very versatile solo career and unfortunately little known because there is a prejudice that Tarja only sings opera and that she does not transmit feelings But those of us who know her know that this is not true. maybe you can hear something from his solo career as victim of ritual, dead promises, dark star, in for a kill, anteroom of death, etc

This duet is interesting not only because of Marko's raspy vocal and Tarja's very clean vocal, but also that Tarja's voice timbre is darker than Marko's. :)

And couldn't agree more, I was too young to go to concerts in the early 2000s but seeing this also makes me miss the time where nobody had their phones out and the crowd was so much more engaged and active. If memory serves, this song occurs about the point where the phantom is about to drop a chandelier on Christine's (the lead female character) boyfriend, killing him.

The End of an Era show was great. Sleeping sun from this show is as you say amazing. I think I even like the live Tarja version better than Floor doing it.

Nightwish is able to make awesome cover songs. They take a song, drop a little Nightwish magic powder on it and the end result is like this you just saw. They did many cover songs on "Tarja era," but not after that. I think Tuomas plays a big role in why they are such successful cover songs. His ability to customize songs to suit Nighwish. He clearly has a touch of Midas! Another cover from the same concert in 2005 or actually a tribute to Pink Floyd. "High Hopes." A model example of what happens when the magic of Nightwish is dropped on an already great song ...

The end of this is super chaotic & wild & brilliant. Marko getting those high high notes, which for me can be hard to get to at times even as a woman

I remember when I heard this first time 🤯😂 It's amazing! God I love Marko's voice ❤️ And even though I'm not a big fan of Tarja's voice, here it fits perfectly! 👍 By the way, you could do Planet Hell with sll singers. They all have done amazing versions and there are great videos out there. Atleast Floor's and Anette's versions, probaply Tarja's too becouse it's from her era. Same with Nemo. Anette did nice acustic version of that.

Glad you saw this!!!! As Tuomas wrote in Dead Boy's Poem, "...a perfect concert, my best friend." It was indeed one of their most perfect concerts, especially up until that time. It's also terribly bittersweet, as it was *immediately* after this show that Tarja was fired from the band.

I heard that Floor was anointed lead singer by drawing Tarja's yellow mic from out of a stone.

This show and Wacken 2013. If I had a time machine, they would be the first two stops. Of all the things I could see, these two shows would be the first. That's saying something.

Well this was in 2005 so not many cell phones around. :) And now, you have to listen to Floor's version of Phantom. It was not done with Nightwish, but on a TV show in Netherlands called Beste Zangers, with Henk Poort who is a professional tenor. It's just as mind-blowing.
