Hey everyone! Thank you SO much for all the amazing feedback on this reaction! 🎉 I've noticed a few comments pointing out that the movie audio and video are slightly out of sync. My apologies for the technical glitch! 🙈 We’ll make sure to double-check everything in future videos. Appreciate your understanding and support - it means the world to us! ❤
I saw a video about facts about this movie 🎬 and it said they created the river of 💩 💩 using chocolate syrup and some other tasty ingredients. It's on RU-vid. Check it out.
Really glad you guys did this one. My favorite film ever. It's quite literally a PERFECT movie. Also, after you watch the movie a few times, you realize that Redd is the main character. He's the one who makes the fundamental change through the movie from beginning to end.
''i'd hate to deprive you of this, Salvation lies within'' my favorite line and scene of this movie. andy had his rock hammer hidden inside the book all along and the warden never opened it.
Wonderful reaction ladies. I think you hit all the right scenes and the right notes. That scene where Red finds the money and note from Andy under the tree is a personal favorite, and Morgan Freeman's narrative particularly at the end is sublime. Let's all get busy living.
English isn't my mother tongue but I'll try decoding what delousing means. I believe louse is the singular form of lice. They're making sure no lice enter the prison with the new prisoners.
This is one of my repeat films. ❤ When I see it playing, I stop and watch, no matter where it is in the story. I always wonder what would have happened if the warden actually had a piece of a heart and allowed Andy to get a new trial. When Andy's cell was emptied for the next inmate, they would have found the huge hole in the wall. Heh.
I could listen to Morgan Freemen read a phone book, this film is a masterpiece. The most heartbreaking scene, is Brookes waiting alone for Jake in the park. And he never comes. That's a never ending pain. Andy finally taught Red that hope is not such a dangerous thing -Brookes was here
Young ladies, I am a 71 old pensioner and still watch this Master piece film. Glad you understand the meaning of the film. Redemption, Love, Friendship and HOPE. Rated as one of the best films ever made. Dave in Guernsey, Channel Islands.
You will also love and need to watch "The Green Mile"! (Starring Tom Hanks and Michael Clarke Duncan!) Sort of an answer to "The Shawshank Redemption"! Both stories written by the great Stephen King, and both directed by the great Frank Darabont!
Ohh I had "The Green Mile" on my watchlist after a few people recommended it when I watched Forrest Gump recently. But I didn't realize it had a connection to this movie as well. I definitely need to watch it soon!!
This movie is perfect. You feel every emotion and are left with a beautiful ending that still leaves it up to the viewer. They could've embarked on so many more adventures👍🏼
You need to see "The Green Mile". Frank Darabont directed both "Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile"; people usually react to both of these movies. Green Mile stars Tom Hanks. Highly recommend this!!
He’s also one of the few people who have never seen the Shawshank redemption even though he was in it. He said that he can’t watch himself act because he’s too critical of himself and he just thinks about all the things he wishes he had done differently when he first started acting and would watch himself acting.
@@willdallas53 Right and the Warden actor said that that character is totally opposite what he really is and it was really hard for him to play that character.
Afternoon. Although set in Maine, the prison used was the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio. The large main building and Cell Block 1 are now a Museum. They offer tours, can be used for special occasions, and offer overnight cell accommodations for the brave. ( haunted ) The street scenes were primarily N. Main St where the shop owners agreed to have their stores redone to fit the time period. Many still look the same. The halfway house is the Bissman Building, and still looks the same today. (It was a beer distributor, hence the name "Brewery") The store was the E and B Market on 4th Street which has been torn down. I was fortunate to be an extra con in the yard scenes. The premiere was held at Mansfield's Renaissance Theatre, a restored 1929 movie palace, before New York and Los Angeles. I volunteered working the theatre restoration. The prison was also used in the movie "Tango & Cash” and was the Russian cell block in "Airforce One". An interesting side note: In the bad winters, crows from 7 or 8 counties move into Mansfield by the hundreds due to large granaries that used to be between town and the prison. Brook's crow was a natural. The passage of time from the unfiltered Chesterfields to the filtered cigarettes offered Tommy by the warden, and the subtle aging of everyone is superb. Many people miss the subtlety of when Brooks left the prison, you see the prison through the gates, and when Red left you are looking forward over the fields toward the town. And they don't notice when the warden opens the Bible and finds the cut out, that it is the book of Exodus! I am 75 now with Parkinson's and don't get to attend movies very often. I enjoy the reaction videos on RU-vid.
My favorite film of all time. I'd also like to add that not everyone that's in prison is there for murder, so some people don't have long sentences, only a year. It's the state's job to protect the inmates, plus they get money for every inmate that they house there. His name is Red, because in the book he's Irish.
@@BennyBlancoNL In the movie his last name is Redding (as I recall, it's on the shots of his parole form). So the character name of Red still makes sense, as well as allowing for his joke about being Irish.
WOW. I thought about this after watching. I think if I see a movie taking place in a prison, my opinion of the characters is largely influenced by the crimes they committed. But in this movie, I felt like I grew to love these characters for who they were as people inside the prison, not for the crimes they committed outside - BUT I also didn't even know what most of them were in for. Knowing what Brooks actually did inevitably makes it hard to reconcile how I felt about him, with such a horrible crime he committed. This is such an interesting story overall, so thought-provoking! Anyway, thanks for watching with us!!
@@DailyDaisiesTV Red, the narrator has planned and carried out his wife's murder by disabling her brakes, which accidentally killed a neighbor and child as well 😳
@@DailyDaisiesTVI still love him nonetheless. You shouldn't judge people by the crimes they've committed. Even if you don't they deserve it, everyone deserves a second chance.
Clancy Brown who plays Byron Hadley is the same guy who voices Mr Krabs on SpongeBob. He has said in interviews that he loved the movie but he hated his character😂
Great movie. I love that it’s really Red’s story more than Andy’s. Another really good movie with Tim Robbins is Arlington Road. Nobody ever reacts to it but it’s awesome with an incredible ending also.
"HOPE IS A GOOD THING, maybe one of the best thing. I hope this letter finds you. etc". This movie is my favorite all around movie EVER made. It is my number ONE for sure. I always watch it if it is on some random channel.
In the novella, Andy escaped when he did because the warden was going to move him to a "better' cell to try to mollify him over what happened with the kid. Obviously, Andy didnt want to move, so he decided the time had come to leave.
Not a reader of books but I envy those who enjoy them and even so I have to think someone who writes such a masterpiece that being Stephen King, he has to be among the G O A T club!!?? Great Reaction Ladies!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
You guys are off to a great start, audio glitches notwithstanding. I just wonder if you truly understood the story because so many people get this wrong. Who do you think got redeemed? This is an allegorical story and the innocent man who was wrongly accused, who brought hope to a world of sinners and escaped by staging a suicide fake-out, passing through Hell, and ending up in Paradise, leaving behind a document that invites the one who loves and believes in him to follow him to Paradies, should be easy to name. I have not looked yet, but if you have not reacted to The Green Mile, You really should. It is a very similar movie in some significant ways and very different in others. reacting to it soon and comparing the two will add depth to your understanding and raise the quality of your discussion. It will help you to stand out in a crowded field. (Just my 2 cents)
I never noticed to watching this today with you guys.He got the bullets inside of a rag with the gun and he had just a few bullets to fill the gun. He wouldn't have bullets to reload.
Allan Greene was Brooks. Subtleties. Andy's hammer was hidden in Exodus. (an escape from bondage) . Red sat on the back of the pickup truck and the back of the bus heading South. Treatment of Blacks in the day. Masterful film and the best reaction I have seen. Kudos to you two! . "Shit pipe dream" and escape though a shit pipe! Pressure and time is very salient!
This is one of three Stephen King stories that director Frank Darabont adapted. You MUST watch The Green Mile. Also a prison movie but a very different one. Tip - have tissues nearby.
The audio and video are out of sync. Had to tap out a few minutes in, unfortunately. Any chance of getting that fixed because I'd really like to watch, but that tends to drive me crazy. 🥴 Much ♥️ all the same.
My only complaint about the story is Stephen King's assertion that Maine bankers don't know or recognize the villain in their state's banking industry. "Andy" would be recognized even 20 years later by any bank executive OR employee that has 20 years' work experience. Maine's senior bank officer may have totalled 500 if every small bank was included, and certainly in the Big City banks. Which was where Andy worked.
Excellent reaction from you both! You might be surprised to know that during its first theatrical run, this movie didn't last very long. In fact, we missed it because it was gone after just a few weeks, and so, we had to wait for it to be released on tape (VHS!). It was only in the later years during the VHS (and then DVD, and later Blu-Ray) days , that it developed such a huge following. During those years, Shawshank used to be on TV on different channels from time to time. Whenever I stumbled on the movie during such runs, I would stay put and watch it till the end. That's why I have seen the start of this movie maybe a few dozen times but have seen the end a few hundred times!
Hi girls, great reaction, and end of movie reaction you got it spot on im 60 years old, and can remember when the movie came out, before your time, it was the time of video films that you rented, at the box office, the movie did not do so well, from the critics and so on, like yourselfs, decades on, it gained traction through word and mouth, people started to rent the film, tell others, some people may have bought it, probably a pirate in thise days, some would buy it, and then copy it to another video cassette and sell them for a couple pounds a go, $2.00 if your from america.
I like you ladys so I subscribed. May I also recommend 12 angery men if you like this movie. It's black and white and abit older, but it has a great story, and keeps your interest with great cast of actors for the time, trust me you will love it
You all gotta please react to Rush hour 1,2 and 3, starring Jackie Chan and Chris tucker. You will love them. They are hilarious and there's so many action packed scenes.
6:00 - You two are far from the only reacters to think that maybe the prison inmates were gathering to WELCOME new convicts so I shouldn't be surprised....yet I always am.
The warden was a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Ever read The Count of Monte Cristo? It is A-MA-ZING!! Quite a few parallels between it and Shawshank. It’s a masterpiece! Has just about everything. Read it UN-abridged Alternate ending: Andy’s letter: You remember the name of the town don’t you? Red:.......AW CRAP!
That chubby dude in the beginning saying "i don't belong here" i think he meant he was to be in protective custody, i mean he doesn't look like a type that'll do a crime but a molester is more likely.
If you're open to black n white older films, Gilda is a great one. It was Rita Hayworth's defining role. So much so that she partially blamed her lack of success with men on it saying that all the men want to go to bed with Gilda but in the morning they wake up to me.
And where in the Bible did Andy place the rock hammer? A very suitable title page, I think you'd agree: EXODUS!!! Andy had a great sense of humor! I like to think that Brooks is no longer alone in that rooming house room now that Red left HIS message!
Everyone who sees this gets upset when Andy brings the info of his innocence to the warden. But the warden is powerless. The 1 and only thing he could do is pass along that info to the DA and 9/10 times, the DA wouldn't care. As far as everyone in the judicial system is concerned, Andy had a fair trial and was convicted so therefore he is guilty. Andy would have needed to get that info to a defense attorney and get them to investigate and hope they could come up with enough evidence to either vacate his conviction or at least get him a new trial, but it would have to be VERY compelling evidence to convince a judge to allow either of those things. The warden and guards are not even part of the judicial system, they're part of the prison system.
Hey Daisy and Ivy I’m new to your channel and you guys did a great reaction to a great movie and like I said love your reaction. Keep up the good work and I’m definitely a fan. 0:03
Yes, we definitely missed it! We hadn't read the book before watching this movie, and didn't know anything about the story, so didn't know that the original character in the book was Irish hence the joke! This was an amazing story overall, I'd love to read the book at some point because I'm sure there's probably so much more we missed w/o reading the book!
@@StreetHierarchy Since Red doesn't have even a hint of an Irish accent, and he has a smirk on his face when he makes the comment, I think it's clear he isn't Irish and that he's making a joke.
BIG SPOILER alert. Sorry but I have to bring this up. As many times as I've seen this movie, I just now caught something that makes no sense. If Andy threw his gun in the river,(he did), then HIS fingerprints would not match those on the murder weapon. That alone would have been enough for reasonable doubt. Movie over.
