The reason why Jane didn't know how long it's been since the she and Thor broke up was due to her being snapped away during the Thanos snap. That's basically why Thor corrected her. And Thor never got over her.

Also her husband was the director/guy moving the props around. One of Hemsworths, two of Natalie's, and two of Taika Waititi's kids were among the kidnapped children. Love is Hemsworths actual daughter, and Kid Thor in the flashback is his son.

People complaining about Zeus has no idea what Zeus was in the Mythos. He was a very horny, jaded, arrogant God who wanted humans do be nothing but his worshippers, so much that he didn't want them to advance at all (Myth on Prometheus). Him not being a benevolent creature fits very well.

In my opinion, Gorr's motivation has been simplified compared to the original, even though he has an Adrian Toomes-like mindset and Wanda's motivation. Christian Bale did an excellent job in this role, but due to the fact that the Thor and Jane line is more prominent, he has little screen time. But in fairness, I note that the humor, unlike Ragnarok, has become more balanced.
@Akatsukileader9
@Akatsukileader9 2 года назад
It kinda bothers me that the real villain is the Necrosword basically, not because it steals Gorr's motivation, but because there's no reason (at least for now) for the sword to want to kill gods specifically. But then again, we didn't know what the sword was or where it came from during the Gorr arc in the comics. The sword basically comes up with the entire plan itself in the first 5 minutes. Gorr's end though is much more fulfilling in the movie. Now free of the influence of the sword he does indeed choose love and be with his child during his last moments, trusting a god of all people to look after her. Whereas in the comics, he loses the Necrosword to Avenger Thor and Young Thor unceremoniously cuts his head off when he was depowered and no longer posed a threat.
@lucamagic7676
@lucamagic7676 2 года назад
No way, the humor in this movie is 10x more excessive and unbalanced than in Ragnarok, and with an even poorer script, hence all the bad reviews
@philipgood5041

I'm guessing it's because he hasn't been slaying gods for as long. In the comics he had been at it for thousands of years.
@matveynoname7083

I have a deep, philosophical view of this movie. It's about denial. Specifically, it's about how three different people experience the denial stage of grief. Thor's in denial about all that he's lost. Almost every friend he's ever had, both mortal and Godly, his family and his home. He's already been through anger, bargaining and despair. But his vaunted strength couldn't save anybody, so now he's over-compensating with goofiness. It isn't until he accepts that even the woman he loves is dying that he actually moves on to acceptance, choosing to spend their last moments appreciating what he has. Valkyrie is in denial about the loss of her culture, doing whatever she can to protect it. Turning her home into a tourist trap, with Asgardian plays used to entertain children and their last flight-worthy ship used as a theme park ride. Jane's in denial about the fact that she's dying, just like her mother, and there's nothing she can do about it. No science and no magic can prevent her death. In a way, Gorr's in denial too. He's experiencing anger more, but he's in denial that the loss of his civilisation was his people's fault. They kept faith in a God who couldn't care less about them, instead of doing anything to improve their situation. It's less pronounced, but it's still there.
@nicolasbaron4506
@nicolasbaron4506 2 года назад
Reviews were way too harsh with this one. Sure, it's a drop off in quality from Ragnarok, and the runtime may be short, but it's still a fun ride with the return of Natalie Portman and having Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher. I also felt there was a chunk missing in the middle that was cut for pacing reasons, but I could spend a lot more time with it if needed. Still, the pace of the movie felt right for what it was trying to be.

A interesting thing about gor that may help make the characterization of the sword cooler is that in the comics it's a symbiote like venom just a very powerful one. Unfortunately since sony owns the symbiotes they legally couldn't make that connection
@AspieMediaBobby
@AspieMediaBobby 2 года назад
The shadows coming from the Necrosword were likely their way of hinting the Necrosword was connected to the Symbiotes without explicitly saying it, also the sword speaking in Gorr`s head and influencing him to behave in a darker,more aggressive manner like symbiotes do with their hosts it isn`t hard for audience members, who aren`t Comics fans to put 2 and 2 together that these alien objects that cause dark and impulsive behavior might be connected.

In the scene when Thor said "We shall feast....not on the children, we DON'T do that anymore" is actually true in Norse mythology because Thor used to eat children, and used their bones to resurrect them again, then eat them again. Good thing this dialogue is used as a "joke" because it might scar the kids watching this film. But also gives historical accuracy on Norse mythology

I actually loved seen Thor use his magic more, when he empowered the kids was actually pretty cool. Love & thunder could’ve been 9/10 but it’s clear it’s super over saturated with humour. There’s 2 fake out deaths. Imagine if Korg died. That could’ve set the tone for the rest of the movie. Then Valkerie dying. Thor could’ve taken his rightful place like they set up in the dark world and reset in endgame. Valkerie could’ve had a cool Valhalla moment, where we see flashes to tease us. I feel like it would’ve made the movie serious. That and the scene where thors giving his speech (the one where meek interrupts) that could’ve been a grounded moment that could’ve made it seem like Thor is actually worried. As much as I do like this movie, and I do like this movie, they definitely didn’t have enough time to properly flesh out both Gorr the God Butcher’s story, or my personal favorite, the Mighty Thor storyline. I think both of these plot lines would have greatly benefited from either a longer run time of the film or just being two separate movies altogether. Funnily enough, when Marvel announced the new female Thor, I had hoped that it meant that Thor Odinson would become mortal so that he could be with Jane. Imagine my surprise when I found out that Jane *is* the new female Thor. Hearing fans talk about how powerful Gorr is in the comics made me sad that we only got to see him kill one God on-screen. I would've loved to see him find Omnipotence City and just massacre them all (except Bao; Bao must be protected at all costs). I also wish Gorr could've fought Khonshu or Arishem (according to a friend of mine, Celestials count as Gods). PS, It's funny that you mentioned the story of Moses when Gorr attacked New Asgard. it depends on the series you talk about but so far in MCU I think we've seen mortals < demi-gods < gods < eternals < eternity some things like warcraft have in betweens like elder-gods

I think you know but in case you don’t when Jane said it’s Ben 3 or 4 years since they last saw each other is because she was gone when thanos snapped

I imagine Trump would approve, even love both The Sovereign and Zeus's use of gold for decoration in their homes.

You know it kind of defeats the purpose of Mjolnir protecting Jane if it's only making her cancer worse.

It didn't make it worse. I don't care to explain it either. However, I get the what you're saying. An unfortunate side effect of being a demigod I suppose.

I liked all the Thor movies, but I think this is my favorite one. I've had a crush on Natalie Portman since I was little from the Star Wars prequels, and I'm not religious but I teared up when she went to Viking heaven!

So, who's your favourite director out of the three 'Thor' directors we've had so far? Kenneth Branagh: Thor (2011) (who's voice acting we've just heard in 'El Dorado') Alan Taylor: Thor: The Dark World (2013) (apparently he was really annoyed with how much Marvel altered his original version) Taika Waititi: Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and Thor: Love and Thunder (2022) Who's your favourite?

A character dies and everybody cries And then this character comes back, either by resurrection, time travel or because of the Multiverse Everything becomes meaningless

The guy playing Thor in the play I think in real life is Chris Hemsworth brother. He was in the play in ragnarok.

When I saw the title 'love and thunder' I kept wondering if it meant that we were going to meet Freyja/Freya, norse Vanir goddess of love, war, beauty, desire, death, and wealth (the Vanir are another family/tribe of gods like the Aesir (Thor's family/tribe). I guess she was the blonde woman we saw Valkyrie reach for in that flashback we saw in 'Ragnarok' when Valkyrie tells Thor about how Hela destroyed them all.

But his loyalty is with theGod's, and his father. So he will be a hero to them. However, that would be an easy character arc to navigate. Hercules having to ask himself if he's a hero or not depending on his actions.
