I love the dichotomy between Anthony and Lucas. Ant is how you speak to people you don’t like and a party, polite but still disagrees with that person. Lu is what you’re thinking in your head when talking to that annoying person. Basically Lu is your inner thoughts
idk common gets old for me and i cant listen to him often but w with Qtip but id rather tribe called quest because i personally think his verses are better and you can never argue with tribe
@@wilson6024 Agreed q-tips definitely better, but I could listen to common any day of the week, resurrection is fire. Been loving de la soul as of lately as well
@@LiPeDeeX yeah idk I think he tries too hard to appeal to 90s rap or something and thinks that just bc new can’t be all time lost but yeah clearly if he thinks 2 of his albums top 10 oat having him high should make sense for him
@@LiPeDeeX i love kendrick but man he isnt top 5 he undeniably isnt better than jay z nas em andre disputably biggie i guess or tupac but i dont think tupac is top 5 and you could replace biggie with somebody like wu tang
The biggest thing to decide when picking a top 5 like this is what does it mean to be 'top', is it legacy? discography? skills? personal preference? impact? You could probably get a totally different top 5 depending on how you decide to place someone into your top 5.
top 5 rappers of all time normally doesnt mean personal preference, as if you wanted their preference you would ask what their top 5 favourite rappers are, so its really not that subjective
Hip Hop fans saying lyricism isn’t important to them is so weird. Lyricism is one of the big things that sets Hip Hop apart from other genres. The story telling and how rappers bend words and use punchlines is what propelled Hip Hop to be taken seriously as an art form.
Guys I don't understand why you wouldn't put already kendrick over 2pac or biggie. I mean they're both legends and they have my respect but their career was not that long because of their early deaths. Apart from this I would say Kendricks discography is way more completed and is better. He already has 2 albums that can be considered in the top 5 rap albums of all time. Apart from this his rapping skills are better. I know that pac and biggie have influenced Kendrick and that they're the reason that kendrick is rapping and that's why I think the only thing that they have over kendrick is Influence but I believe that isn't enough for them to rank higher.
I completely agree, personally I think with that has already come out regardless of time and eras, Kendrick is the greatest to do it, sure 90’s and 00’s rappers have influence and their albums have been around for longer, I think Kendrick is the most talented and has the most powerful discography. when you look at tpab as well as gkmc and even DAMN you realise that this man does not miss, even his new album has so many concepts and themes that just simply are art. I do see him being in and dominating the goat conversation within the next 10 years.
no no no no heres the thing tupac was one of the most emotionally involved people while singing he brought great impact inspired many but theres like a 30/70 on him being better than kendrick and then we get to biggie smalls the most influential out of the 3 the most skillful out of them not the best lyricist compared to kendirck and kendrick hasnt been around long enough he has 1 amazing album and 1 thats perfect but not better than ready to die or life after death and those are just two of his albums kendrick only got 2 very good albums damn is nice and all but not on the same level
@@subrcket2134 You're delusional. Kendrick has surpassed biggie at this point. The only thing biggie has over Kendrick may be influence. Also Tupac is far more influential than biggie on rap culture and culture in general.
Wasn’t planned😂 with all due respect to Tyler we love to debate and have these hard barbershop type conversations. Music is subjective and we’re just sharing our opinions!
I still don’t get why people say it’s too early to put Kendrick that high. GKMC has been out for 10 years. In 2010 ppl had Em high up (MMLP was out for 10 years) same with Nas, 10 years after illmatic came out he was already in everyone’s lists. Lu literally has 2 Kendrick albums in the top 5 hip hop albums of ALL TIME, but can’t put Kendrick top 5?
facts and kendrick literally has no misses in terms of albums since gkmc. so many people also call tpab one of if not the greatest rap album of all time. kendrick absolutely has the catalog to back up being that high up.
I think juice is the best freestyler just because of the sheer amount and how he’d turn freestyles into entire hit songs, even if other people can technically out rap him in a freestyle
I know I'm a bit late to the party here, but, in no particular order... Tupac, due to his crazy level of consistency and incredible storytelling, not to mention his undeniable impact on the industry as a whole. His flow, lyrics and sound were literally era defining and he was the first voice many had ever heard from the world of hip-hop, especially Millenials like myself. To say he's influential would be like saying the sun is bright, so it's kind of an understatement, to say the least. R.I.P, Pac. DMX, for his awesomely unique voice and the infectious hype energy he exudes in his music, it's impossible not to at least nod your head to so many of his songs. DMX was possibly the very first rap artist I've ever heard, growing up in the late 90's and early 2000's, and even now I can very easily turn on a DMX song and jam out with a big grin on my face. R.I.P, X. J. Cole, for his friggin incredible lyrical flow and for always being just so damn real with his fans and his music. That's not to mention his storytelling and quality aren't just consistent, but constantly improving, with his hooks and bars only getting more and more sick with every passing year. Mark my words, J. Cole is one of the Greatest of All Time, and he'll absolutely be remembered as such. Eminem, for his uniquely blunt and often dark storytelling and lyrical writing, combined with his masterful use of wordplay and innuendos, it's hard to deny that his storytelling and bars are some of the most legendary in hip-hop history. No one, and I mean no one, can shake the world of music in the rap industry quite like Em. The Notorious B.I.G, for his legendary deep, smokey vocals, deep, complex lyrical writing and absolutely absurd legacy he's left behind. Pac may have been just as skilled and enjoyable as an artist, but he also had a considerable body of work before his passing, while Biggie only had 2 full albums entirely made and put together by his own hand at that point, and they were't even released until after he had already passed, with the rest being unfinished or compilation post-mortem albums. And yet, he is still in almost every rap fan's top 5. That speaks volumes to the sheer quality of the Notorious one himself. R.I.P, Biggie. Some people may take issue with J. Cole being in a top 5 of all time list like this, but I don't care. He deserves the props, if you ask me.
Ye, kendrick, biggie, killer mike, Q-tip. Obviously jayz, em, Andre 3k, mf doom and nas are technically amazing and I love them but this is my top 5 favourite not best necessarily. Also JID's up there
Luca has some of the best takes. He sounds very knowledgeable and passionate about rap. His opinions also sound well thought out and hard to argue against. Shout out. 🔥
1) Jay-Z 2) Juice WRLD 3) Swae Lee 4) Lil Wayne 5) Ty Dolla $ign These are my Top 5 rappers. The only thing that I love those rappers, the song rap on a smooth way is like a relax vibe for the summer.
One of the biggest things these guys need to understand, which I don’t think they ever will, is that no rapper is objectively better than any other rapper. Music is subjective, it’s an odd choice to make a 20 minute video dedicated to tearing peoples top 5 lists apart, as if there is a correct top 5 list.
Kendrick, Eminem, Jay, biggie, pac. Basic list i know but i love tupac em and k dot and from what ive heard of biggie and jay theyre incredible they've been incredible and ive yet to dive into their catalog
My list: 1. Eminem 2. Biggie 3. Nas 4. Andre 3k 5. Wayne 6. Jay-Z 7. Kendrick 8. Black Thought 9. MF Doom 10. Royce Da 5'9 (2pac for impact is much higher, but as a rapper, only cracks the top 15 imo)
@@Python-xs2iv I don't think there are any newer artists that could get into the top 10, but my favourites are Tyler, Travis, Polo G, Juice, X, and J Cole
1. 2PAC 2. NAS (THE BEST EVER) 3. BIG 4. RAKIM 5. COMMON ( MY FAVOURITE) OTHERS are JAY-Z, BLACK THOUGHT, EMINEM, ANDRE 3000, AZ ( Favourite), SLICK RICK (Favourite), KRS-ONE, BIG L, J. COLE (Favourite), KENDRICK (Favourite), LAURYN HILL (Favourite),ETC
EXACTLY. not just them but a lot of hip hop content creators only favour the popular and safe opinions and clown the unpopular ones. sometimes they forget the subjectivity in music.
5. Denzel Curry 4. Mac Miller 3. Kendrick Lamar 2. ASAP Rocky 1. Ski Mask The Slump God This list starts pretty basic, and ends with Ski out of nowhere. Ski isn't the best objectively speaking, but he's my favorite not because of objective pov. I love him as a person and his music style.
I think some people in generation z do actually branch out to the earlier days of hip hop and rap. Stuff like soul too ... I love that stuff for the most part. I also like to be forward thinking and enjoy new stuff too if I happened to like it. Its kinda hard for me to not feel frustration towards someone unironically claiming that music is dead or that "herp derp it's not like the good ol days!" Just branch out, be open minded and know what kind of music in that space to avoid. For me that is people Iike Lil Pump, 6ix9ine, DaBaby or NBA YoungBoy n clones of him
Nah, cap. I like old music more than new music MF DOOM,Pac,Em,Kendrick,Wheezy,Pink floyd,Nas,3k are all my goats. But I feel like what separates artist from todays days is obviously the production, and since music is so much more easier and simple to make in nowadays, Its easier for artist to come up with better melodies,Flows and even bars. I say its even easier to create bars because for some people in rap, they all have this same conservative mundane music format. All they talk about is drugs, lust,Violence, and boasting. But the precursors have better lyrics and story telling. Juice and Denzel curry definitely are the artists from this gen that stands out to me. Juice wrlds Unreleased discography puts him Top 1 artist from his gen because of how his melodies are so charming. Bars are still in that conservative format I previously talked about though(Kendrick lamar is not the same gen as Juice nor is JID so dont try to argue). Honorable mentions: Yb,Carti,Uzi,21 savage enumerated these artist from 1,2,3,4 respectively. Before you say anything I look at artist unreleased and released discography before making inferences. I know about 80%+ of each artist discographies
I feel like trying to rank artists from an objective standpoint is really dumb. And then critiquing someones list is even more pointless. Music is subjective, the fact that my top 5 is different from other peoples top 5 is a beautiful thing. If everyone had the same top 5 or 10, then that would make consuming music obsolete. That being said, here's my *subjective* top 5 (in no particular order): 5.) Kendrick 4.) Ye 3.) Lil Wayne 2.) Schoolboy Q 1.) Chief Keef
Are we talking JUST on rapping skills or overall as an artist? Cause going off the latter, In no order: Kanye West JPEGMAFIA Tyler The Creator MF DOOM Kendrick Lamar Off of just rapping, Id say: Nas Eminem Big L Kendrick Lamar Ice Cube FYI my top 5 switches up almost every other day, There's plenty of artists that deserve to be in there as well, This just how im feeling at the moment lol
@@subrcket2134 Cube is a fantastic storyteller & Has incredible flow. I had him top 5 as for me personally he has some of the most enjoyable tracks to listen to. As far as Tyler, As a ARTIST yes this is absolutely a reality where he is top 5. I think he's a fantastic producer, Songwriter and rapper. Same with Kanye or JPEG he just has an incredible understanding of music, And it's hard to deny it. Also keep in mind this is my OPINION lol and like I said it changes basically everyday. If you ask me now Tyler, Cube & Even Kendrick probably aren't gonna make my top 5.
logic is not in there nor pusha T influence wise future i think should sit in top 15 comfortably but i think the best list would be MF DOOM em jay Z nas andre 3k maybe biggie could be on there for andre or DOOM or scar face
Kendrick can be considered top 5 cause if someone like Biggie can be then why not Kendrick and you can't say Kendrick doesn't have longevity cause Biggie didn't as well and dropped basically one album while living which was obviously a classic and life after death but Kendrick also has gkmc and tpab which are classic albums as well his subject matter is dope technical ability is one of the best and he can basically do anything Loved the vid tho as always
biggie is simply infinitely more influential and kendrick isnt as well moved out as biggie i feel he can be in 5-10 years but not now gkmc isnt better than ready to die or life after death but tpab is
1 juice 2 wayne 3 mobb deep 4 kendrick 5 andre3k and how yall say juice isent the best freestyler he the goat at freestlying juice had endless flows and could feestlye cirles around anyone. My personal top 15 off the top: (A mix between lyricism, hits, style, catalogue, originality, influence and so on) 15. DMX 14. Little Simz 13. 50 Cent 12. Snoop Dogg 11. Ice Cube 10. Black Thought 9. Lil Wayne 8. Jay-z 7. Nas 6. 2Pac 5. Notorious B.I.G 4. Kanye West 3. Kendrick Lamar 2. André 3000 1. Eminem
I think putting Mac as your number one is defendable. Swimming and Circles grip you emotionally as well as any of the best albums can. Obviously I don’t think he’d objectively be number one, but for personal lists, it’s defendable.
Juice has to be considered for the top freestylers list , he could rap for hours at a time with ease, in his short time he made over 3000 songs and they are all fire, he already mastered the ability and just would’ve gotten better
