i love how goofy all their videos are. these guys clearly don't take themselves too seriously and it's just another reason to love them, as if the music wasn't enough.
Unleash the Archers is a band that feels like they truly found their voice several albums ago... and have just gotten better and better every subsequent release. Love'm.
Please keep coming with the reactions of this album.. yes the synths is there for making it sound galactic due to it suppose to be set in space.. some fans are not liking it .. takes a few listens but this album is top notch.. and when its done live like on saturday.. it sounds friggin awesome.. even the journey song with Carry the flame.. but legacy and others are just friggin kick ass .. thank you chase for what you do .. tc n be safe
@8:40 "No... we cant have this, we need them, please, 2020 has been hard enough" Im working in an office after a very long day, its late into the evening, im exhausted.....and I burst out laughing and turned a lot of heads towards me a that moment.
Awesome job jumping on this one. I was all set to come home from work and watch the video, but then I saw this was your reaction and I figured I would get the video and the Chase reaction in one shot. I really love this album. I think there are only videos with just a pic of the album art for the other songs on it so far. I really enjoy Waking Dream, The Wind that Shapes the Land, and Afterlife. Always a damn good day with UTA.
@@ChaseCarneson Also secretly hoping we go back and do Band-Maid - Cross that dropped the same day as Wonderland. It's not from the same February 14, 2020 show that most of the live reactions have been, so it could be cool and different that way.
Always look forward to your UTA reactions. Always great commentary. Next track by them, go back in time to their song Time Stands Still (official video) 🤘🇨🇦
If I recall correctly, that is the exact reason that they added the synth on this album. It's another concept album, which is a sequel to Apex, and this time they are in space. So that's exactly the type of feeling that the synth is supposed to give.
If you haven't already listened to it independently, please do yourself a favor and check out The Wind That Shapes the Land, for your next UtA reaction.
I cant believe how much you truly enjoy listening and analyzing the music you listen to very entertaining and educational in how you approach your reactions. I must say probably one of the best reaction channels I have watched.
Team UTA won! 🇨🇦 ✊ You're so into the solo that your face turns red. It's adorable. "Who's this guy that's been killing everyone?" Might be their new bassist haha.
Or the old one hired "a friend". I confess I was sidetracked by the cute blonde. Maybe UTA saw "Noise" and thought they'd copy the tactic Nightwish used? 😜 🤣
They've had a secret weapon in their back pocket the entire time that we didn't know about. Andy can actually sing. Listen to Carry the Flame and fall in love with this band all over again.
Great thanks from your reaction. I very like your work. You´re doing great. This song is one of the best songs UTA. I love this band. Keep up the great work :-).
Awesome to see folks catch on to UTA ;) Brittney has been doing a good bit of interacting with the RU-vid community during COVID,and she's a treasure when she does.Hopefully we can see them live again soon.As a local,I really appreciate their video locations.Great to hear a fantastic band and see familiar sites as well.Definitely gets my Canuck pride up.
Chase..this was their flat out attempt to write a pure power metal song...mission accomplished!!! You will need to react to some additional songs within Abyss that showcase their ability to stretch their boundaries. Legacy and The Wind that Shapes the Land....just phenomenal...really the whole album is just a masterpiece!
Great analysis as always!! To continue your journey through UTA, if you want to follow a chronological order, I’d start with 1. Dawn of Ages (first video they did) 2. General of the Dark Army 3. The Cowards Way/False Walls doubleheader 4. 10000 against 1/Earth and Ashes doubleheader (The reason I bundled these together is they are the 4 songs from Apex dealing with the Immortal and the Matriarch’s 4 sons) 5. Call me Immortal 6. Then I would start the journey through Abyss in track order. Brittney has said they wrote the album to be listened to in that way. Keep up the great work!!!
Just saying Chase, I'm sure I'm not the only one that wouldn't be opposed to you potentially setting aside a day of the week to react to UTA kind of like you've done with Nightwish lol. At least until you're able to get through the rest of Apex and Abyss if nothing else. Always love seeing your reactions to them. Granted I've watched quite a few of your other ones now as well, but how many UTA reactions you've done in such a short time is one of the main reasons I ended up subscribing aside from the insight you're able to give. After all, with a few exceptions, most reactors seem to do a song or two by them and then move on and never really go back.
IMMORTAL IS MORE THAN A NAME! FASTER THAN LIGHT [Verse ] Once more we're flying fast as light Dark matter passing in the night Pursued by a force we can't outrun As we hurtle towards a dying sun [Pre-Chorus 1] We maneuver through the remnants of a moon On the solar winds of supernovas There is not a place to hide, the Matriarch is close behind It's plain to see she's coming for us all [Chorus] Fly till the stars collide Till we live or die Faster than ever before Fly to forget your past To move on at last Fly on and forever more Faster than light [Verse 2] Still farther and beyond we race Into the outer reach of space Through systems I will never know And yet still we have nowhere to go [Pre-Chorus 2] As the planets shatter right before my eyes There's no turning back, she's already here Stare into infinity, and know that time is short for me I can't deny she's coming for us all [Chorus] Fly till the stars collide Till we live or die Faster than ever before Fly to forget your past To move on at last Fly on and forever more Faster than light [Bridge] Why do I not turn and fight And see if I somehow might set myself free? Why do I feel so alive As if suddenly I somehow find I'm where I should be? Finally, I feel I can face up to all that I've done and become something more, more [Chorus] Fly till the stars collide Till I live or die Faster than ever before Fly to forgive my past To move on at last Fly on and forever more Fly till the stars collide Till I live or die Faster than ever before Fly to forgive my past To move on at last Fly on and forever more Faster than light
Fantastic analysis of the track as usual Chase! You have absolutely become my favorite music reaction RU-vidr as of late so keep up the good work! Also just to let you know UTA has uploaded the whole Abyss album under the Unleash the Archers Topic on RU-vid, and I can only echo the sentiments about reacting to "Legacy", its one of the more diverse tracks on the album and brings me to tears every time I listen to it its SO good. Your commentary on it would be greatly appreciated!!!
Chase, I know there's a whole new album and lots of material from Apex you haven't digested yet, but do yourself and all of us a favor and make your next UTA reaction be to 'Legacy' off the new album. There's no video, but it is simply the most unique metal song I've ever heard; I haven't heard anything like it before, and I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. I am really curious to see what your reaction will be. I'm not sure it's my "favorite" track off of Abyss, but every album run-through I smash that repeat button 3 or 4 times because it's still creating new neural pathways in my brain, and I never thought that would happen at my age. I'd love to get your thoughts on it.
I agree 100%. 'Legacy' is the song that really stands out to me on the album. It's really amazing how each character has distinctive musical and vocal traits so you can always tell whose point of view the lyrics are from.
Agreed. I think Legacy is the most unique song in the album. It caught me completely off guard when I first heard it and it's the song I most listen to when I don't listen to the whole album (which I think is the best way to consume Abyss). Overall, a very impressive album. UTA is the shit.
Heard this right when it dropped! Definitely, BEAST drummer feet! This is a great listen during production time, especially when sh*t needs to get done!
I knew you'd react to this one and I was, of course, not disappointed. This one is my favorite song on the album! If you want more of their stuff - the song (and music video) of theirs that I discovered them with years ago was "General of the Dark Army" - they were awesome then but have still come a long way and gotten even better! I also think you'll **love** "Ten Thousand Against One" from Apex (which has at least one fan/lyric video on RU-vid). Thank you, as always, for all the great analysis and education about the music we love!
One of my faves from the new album!! You must continue your journey throught the Apex and then Abyss! They are sooo good!!!!! Every song deserves to be listen!! :D Cheers Chase and thank you!!
Superfast song set to a video with people running in slo-mo threw me off at first. If you want to hear some amazing harmonies, I’m pointing towards Ayreon - The Day That The World Breaks Down again ;-)
I enjoyed the Song, the video was hilarious so much so I missed a ton giggling like a schoolboy, so I made sure i had another screen up so I could enjoy the breakdown.
Glad you got to this one so early. Their music videos for this album have been very silly due to real life circumstances, but the album itself is amazing. It's actually giving some competition to Nightwish "Human:||:Nature" for my album of the year. And before this one, there was absolutely no contest.
Awesome reaction and analysis as always. And yeah as everyone is saying, they introduced the synth with this album cause it brings the 80s space vibe to the music :D I would love to see you react to the whole album, piece by piece. Because it's so well put together and every song is just building up to one another. Would love to hear what you have to say about that. But don't feel pressured to do so :D
i think it would be a great idea to react to a song from their first album so you can evaluate just how much they evolved. I absolutely love this song and this band
Man, Love the reaction and analysis as always. I cant wait to see you react to Return to me from the same album, it doesnt have a video yet but hands down my favorite of the album.
My favorite song from the new UTA album now has a goofy music video AND Chase already has a reaction video up for it? My Monday just got a whole lot better!
@@ChaseCarneson Nah it happens it was just way too busy, and too many colleagues are on holidays. Which they absolutely deserve. Your video is just making it a damn good day.
Hey Chase .. Great review !!! Yes He does answer and comment on posts ( Grant ) He's hit me back on facebook and insta..... Might take Him a while but he gets to it as much as he can , so COOL ! That is what make's Me LOVE this band SO MUCH !!!! They Get It !!!!! Cheers !!!!
AMAZING!!! And NEVER be sorry to pause! This is satisfying every step of the way. The DRUMS!!!! I'm in love! The humour is SO Canadian! And I had lunch, thanks.
I didnt know this band until now and this takes me back to the 90s...Stratovarius, Rhapsody, Sonata Arctica and all those bands from that era...even early Nightwish. I'd recommend Stratovarius - Destiny
Probably my favourite of the album besides Abyss and Soulbound. The vocals with the line about going through the remnants of a moon on the solar winds of supernovas is awesome. I get chills Brittney is awesome. If i could meet one person from a band i listen to itd be her
Every time i hear that line i love it! I literally imagine competitive ice skaters in space on the rings of Saturn (or any other planets) whipping thru space. Essentially, the album cover.
I watched this video 11 minutes after it dropped. It is definitely a great song and a great video. I did watch their live stream concert and it was so fun. Brittney was so engaging and they sounded great! Great video and have a damn good day!
@Chase Carneson - I hope you were able to watch their online concert his past weekend. They were amazing. Abyss is a great album with a lot more 80/90's rock touchstones in it than previous albums.
I love that the breakdown starts when we start to see grant struggling with the fact his friends are dying, and it ends with brittany taking back over when he gets shot.
We have to be serious here; As The master of PAUSE, you must give a Masterclass of pausing to these girls. Invite also UA and Wintersun when having that! I was about 1 sec from cardiac arrest when listening 😅😓
The intro on this one reminds me a lot of Stratovarius. If you haven't heard anything from them before, I reccomend it. They're one of the original influencers of Nightwish as well.
I don't really understand any of what you're saying but something I do understand is how awesome they are ;) Does understanding the music and being able to analyze it allow you to enjoy it more and/or distract from the music?
Can do a bit of both to be honest. Taken a long time to switch off the "Active listening" part to really enjoy the song for what it is. But also very fun to be able to figure out why I like it.
Out of curiosity, do you ever react to songs that aren't singles/have music videos? Would love to hear your thoughts on the whole album, with The Wind That Shapes the Land being my personal favourite off the new album
Chase. Look up the 5 piece family band Liliac. I'd suggest some of their covers first. Like Rainbow in the Dark, Holy Diver, Enter Sandman, The Trooper, Crazy Train, Somebody to Love. Then some of their own material they're very good indeed and I think you may like them.
thanks as always for the the great breakdown of the song. This is kind of wierd but watching this video and seeing how goofy and fun this band is makes me think of Maximum the Horomone. Mind you they sound nothing like each other but there is something about watching people just have fun with their craft. If you have never heard Maximum the Horomone I would highly recomend you give them a listen I would recomend Yoshu Fukushu as that song shows off the fact that they dont play one genre of music and its a fun video.
Fun video and great song! In the beginning it sounded a bit like Dragonforce, just alot better ;) A question to my favorite youtube reactor (yes thats you Mr. Carneson) Can we expect more Wintersun reactions in the near future? :)
I love these guys now , never heard them until chase reaction. I’m still watching Nighwish, greatest show on earth reaction, I’ve loved that song for years. It was so great that you understand it like you do. I wish I could explain to my idiot friends how absolutely amazing nighwish are, but they are idiots 🤦♂️. Ya they like metal but are out of date if you ask me, Floor Jansen is the new ..... everything 🤣🤘🤷♂️👍👍🥰🥰
That was quick, lol! Abyss is a contender for album of the year for me, it's fabulous. It took me three or four listens for it to really grab hold but now I can't stop listening to it Only time will tell if I like it more than Apex, but it's already close. The album launch live stream at the weekend was suitably epic. Hey Chase, please react to the new Nemophila single, RAITEI: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lh-dVLKP314.html
I've always kinda thought that Unleash the Archers was a one-note band (one very high note, but one-note nonetheless,) but this song makes me wanna give em another look 🤔
