Legend has it that Bruce Dickinson and Ronnie James Dio conjured a daughter of Metal. They bestowed upon her the name of Brittney Slayes, and that is what she does.
4:37 "Just listen, Chase...just shut up and listen." 😂 Don't mind you talking, ginger. It's always a damn good day to me when Chase uploads a UTA reaction and starts off with airdrum dance.
Test Your Metal was the first song by UTA that I heard when that album was released (found on youtube by accident / chance / algorithm I don't know!), still a non-skip anytime it comes up, brilliant!
WWHHHHHEEEEEEE!!!! Oh, by the way, the landscape is Beautiful Canada!!! Yes, these guys have spent A LOT of time in the back of a van, cuddling their guitars. It happens to all Canadian bands. The MILLIONS of hours on the road, freezing to death in winter or broiling alive in summer, hauling between the provinces and territories, from one festival venue to another. Britney probably goes out and screams at wolves and Grizzly bears to warm up. She's a Canadian girl. On ward!!!
To back up your information: She has a range from C♯3 ("Northwest Passage") to D6 ("The Filth and the Fable"), source: therangeplanet.proboards.com/thread/21/brittney-slayes
Traveling for work a couple years ago, going through RU-vid looking for new bands, I came across this waiting on my plane. My very first UTA exposure. Life has never been the same! Love UTA
When you go to a UTA concert you can hear Brittney warming up by going through scales if the venue is smaller. I remember her talking about her concert day warm up routine in an interview and when I went to the washroom to change my shirt to the UTA one I just bought I could very clearly hear her just singing notes to warm up!
Love the idea of 2 in 1, that would be great imo!! 👍🏻 Also I can’t wait for you to react to their song Ten Thousand Against One, I think it really is my favorite song of them! I particularly love the way Brittney performs it live, even better than studio imo. Thanks for your great content !!
In this song Brittney and the boys seem to pay tribute to the days of the NWOBHM, especially Grim Reaper and its singer, the late, great Steve Grimmett.😢👍
Great thanks for this reaction. I like your work. Unleash The Archers is one of the best metal bands nowadays. I love them and I heard all their songs. Brittney is one of the best singers in the rock and metal scene :-).
Chase, as far as I know Brittney's recorded range is a C#3 (Northwest Passage) to a D6 (The Filfth and the Fable, layered vocals in Ripping Through Time). Highest note in Test Your Metal is an A5.
What I've noticed about Brittney, just from watching live videos here on RU-vid, is that she really doesn't seem to go with the easier option on stage. She's always going freakin' ballistic. :) Great reaction, man. Looking forward to more! Edit: Just for your own enjoyment (and not a reaction), I recommend checking out Soulbound live, just to hear her opening scream. It's absolutely bananas.
IMMORTAL IS MORE THAN A NAME! TEST YOUR METAL Test your metal! You been around town with an original sound and everyone knows who you are All you really got is your name, but everybody loves you the same The party don't start till you walk in the bar, and the crowd is waiting on you As soon as they hit the lights, take flight But there's not many places you can play and all the faces stay the same I'm not tryin' to say this town is lame but it's time... Test your metal! Hot city nights, under city lights; we are the night Trust me when I say to hit the road and escape, can you hear them calling for you Just try to take it day by day, the next town ain't so far away There's a world outside lets take a ride, I'm not gonna say it again Now's the only chance you got to rock Don't let your dreams get away, get up, go forth and make them scream... It's time Test your metal! Hot city nights, under city lights; we are the night Test your metal! Hot city nights, under city lights; we are the night
Three things, first of all good reaction like usual. Second, I am a field service tech. As such I get a text message every time a certain piece of equipment is used at a customer's site daily. I get three to four thousand of those texts per day. That second to last "test your metal" is the sound byte on each and every one of those texts. My wife hates it and it's great :D Third and most importantly, I cannot possibly recommend enough, if you're going to continue reacting to unleash the archers, "the General of the Dark Army" is mandatory. Personally I feel it is on par with some of Nightwishes longer pieces. If that doesn't intrigue you I don't know what will
Awesome reaction, Chase! Unleash the Archers always hit the mark! Brittney is a powerhouse. I'd say do two Apex songs back to back - that is, one video per song, one after the other. That way you can really focus on just one song at a time. I'm sure you may have looked up the tracklist for Apex already, but in case you haven't, here it is: "Awakening" "Shadow Guide" "The Matriarch" "Cleanse the Bloodlines" "The Coward's Way" "False Walls" "Ten Thousand Against One" "Earth and Ashes" "Call Me Immortal" "Apex" You've obviously already listened and analyzed a few from the album. Excited to see you do the rest! Also hoping to see a reaction to "Unending Sorceress" by Unlucky Morpheus. Thanks!
Big time classic metal cues....lots of Judas Priest and Iron Maiden as you have pointed out....as you have seen now, they have a very diverse style and can perform such different types of metal. Quickly becoming my all time favorite band.
With all the comments about 80s, how about Doro Pesch ? Probably the original femal fronted metal, and still going 35+ years on. Her 25th anversary concert even got Tarja, and Floor on stage with her at the same time, along with others Lemmy, Liv,... . There are some good Waken performaces on RU-vid
Ya this is a favorite that can take anyone back to the 80's/90's metal days for sure. Love your reactions and UTA is AWESOME!!. I agree with another comment I read that you SHOULD JUST INVITE BRITTANY to your channel for a chat. She's really cool and would probably introduce you to some of her favorites as well. Keep em coming and congrats on your growing channel!!
So I've know of UTA for little while now, but had only heard a handful of songs. Only really started listening to them in the last month or so and honestly I can't get enough. I listened through Apex in order first. But now I pretty much have their entire catalog on shuffle to hear everything I haven't listened to yet and I honestly cannot find a bad song by them so far. I wouldn't be surprised if you end up reacting to all their music over time lol. Cannot wait for the chance to see them live.
Yes!! One of my favorite UTA songs. Great reaction as usual! I think you might like: Delain - Masters Of Destiny aswell, not many people have reacted to it and i think it's a special track.
Seeing as you made reference to Iron Maiden and Bruce, could you do some “Reviews” of your favorite Maiden songs? It would be great to hear your take on some of the technical points in their songs. 🤘 Keep up all the great work!!
Omg Yes! Iron Maiden. I couldn't put my finger on it before. Now I can! Listening to UtA for the first time was like discovering Iron Maiden for the first time 30+ years ago!
Awesome as always love that you went back on the solo not for technical reasons but because you wanted to lol nice :) . Reccomend you check out Allegaeon ( I found out about them through brittney slayes she had written or said something about being excited their album Proponent for Sentience was coming out) they are amazingly talented musicians.
It's not a proper Unleash the Archers song without it starting with the Brittney Slayes metal wail of power™. If you havn't already, check out the video on their channel where she sings Queen of the Reich (by Queensrÿce). They went to a karaoke bar for drinks after a gig in Edinburgh and Brittney went up to the mic. Video is shot with a mobile camera, weak karaoke mic and she still slays (pun very much intended) and is having so much fun. They are a band I actually found out about from reaction channels. Can't wait for things returning to normal so I can see them live.
Kinda just wanted to comment I followed your channel and it's the first reaction channel I've ever followed, always though it's just shitty algorithm baiting but you always have something insightful to say and your disseminations feel so natural and effortless, and you obviously have a strong musical vocabularity to back it all up. Respect+
ty for this one .. love it .. shows more of a live exp..and it gives you a view into their lives of being a band struggling to become their own..Gotta love UTA ... look forward to the next brother .. tc n be safe Ps hope she catches this and get a hold of you for that interview.
You probably will like to watch (or react) to "Brittney Slayes - Queen of the Reich Karaoke - Edinburgh " She did Karaoke after the last concert of a tour, still sounding awesome. No frills, just Brittney on a Karaoke microphone.
@@ChaseCarneson for sure she is amazingly talented, and so humble you just have to love her...LOL thanks for your reaction chase it is informative and insightful. you have a great ear for music
Great reaction again Chase, as you like this kind of music could I suggest Past tense by Sanctuary. It's and older song but Warrel Dane is an absolute legend of a singer in my opinion. Keep up the great work.
Spotify just recommended me this song! But it's really you who introduced me to this awesome band. And getting back into rock/metal. I kind of want to see your reaction to Within Temptation (either Angels or The Howling); they were a band I was introduced to and enjoyed during high school.
I would suggest one of the collaborations from Within Temptation as an introduction. Sharon Den Adel is another of the Dutch singers. Yeah, it's in the water. Within Temptation - Black Symphony "Somewhere"; this was live with Anneke Van Giersbergen Within Temptation - Paradise; you get Sharon Den Adel and Tarja Turunen. I like the video production but there are some live versions also.
YES! UtA is super-fun because they are so... "pure". I mean that in the sense of them doing their thing, having fun and just being awesome. They still have that thing that you get from bands early in their careers where they are just a bunch of friends rockin' out and going with whatever comes.
Love the 80’s vibe this song has...🤘. Noticed u did some Japanese metal review, Have you ever tried Anthem from Japan? They’re legendary try Double Helix( instrumental) or Black Empire. There great live... anyways have a DAMN GOOD DAY!!!
Love your reactions, especially to these guys! Given what you’ve already done off Apex, I’d recommend Earth and Ashes or False Walls. Or any other, they’re all awesome!
Chase, another great UTA reaction as always. If you want to hear some vocal range, check out Beast in Black. Their vocalist, Yannis Papadopoulos, has some insane range. I recommend Blind and Frozen as a song to start off. I know you'll love it!
Theres a really good interview with her and Mary Z about her vocal training/background, I'll edit this post with it when find it... The interview: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aETpnw3dCck.html
I understand that a coment was needed, really, but that stop before the main chorus at 3:07 was almost criminal, lol. Just joking, very nice reacting video o/
Please please please, However you do it, do more from Apex, calling it a masterpiece is no exaggeration at all. They really just NEVER disappoint do they?
If you're open to more pre-Apex UtA tracks, I can't recommend 'Frozen Steel' enough (probably my favourite UtA song, but I love them all), and if you want more old-school sounding metal, try 'Going Down Fighting' (another personal favourite). 'Time Stands Still' is from the same album as those two and has a video, if that matters.
@@luisnunes2010 yeah i watched all three .. Damn good !!! cept for the 3 missed cords in the beginning of Dreamcrusher ;) 2 by grant and 1 by the bassist.. but hell ..shit happens
Britney likes to start warming up by singing softly for a bit here and there, hours before the show starts, doing little exercises, going a little harder over time, but never really blowing her load. Paraphrasing from her interview with Mary Z.
UTA are incredible. It is a shame that they have not received the fame and fortune that they deserve. Takayoshi Ohmura is another incredible guitar virtuoso that is underappreciated in the west. People know of him by his stint in Baby Metal, but he is so much more than that. His solo stuff is fantastic. Just discovered this one today. Here's a taste of a live performance with Mikio, Boh, and Hideki (one set of Baby Metal's Kami Band), : Holy Tomorrow - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wmXU_fgAe1M.html -
