The original artist is Miracle of Sound. He watched/listened to it and rated it 10 raised alehorns out of 10. Everything Voiceplay does is wonderful, so glad you reacted to this one!! Geoff dropped Man of Constant Sorrow a week after this, you will want to react to it, I promise!!
I knew you were going to love this song and video!! They out do themselves every time! I cannot stop watching this, it is amazing!! That first B0 Geoff hits lasts for 15 seconds!! Eli has become the Asgardian god of rock, Layne is a beatboxing god, Cesar has become a Berserker, and J None has shown us that rap indeed belongs in acapella! Great reaction!
Valhalla is where Viking warriors who died an honorable death in battle went in the afterlife. That's not to say that other Vikings did not go to a Norse version of heaven; Norse mythology is full of gods affecting their every day life and afterlife, much like Greek and Roman mythology. But Valhalla was the wish of warriors ... if they were going to die, they wanted to die honorably in battle.
This is from the video game Assassin's Creed, originally by Miracle of Sound (which gave a huge thumbs up to VoicePlay for this cover). Valhalla is kind of two things in Norse Mythology. It's their equivalent of Heaven. It's also the "hall" where Odin (the "big" god in Norse mythology) lives with his two sons (Thor and Loki). In English, "calling" can mean several things like telephoning someone (I'll give you a call) or to give someone a name (I call my dog Spot), or to yell out (Stop!, she called), but it can also mean that something is beckoning you, it's "speaking" to you, it means you want to go to that place or that object. So here, they feel "drawn to" Valhalla and want to go there. It's "calling" them. English is a strange language!! You often seen this usage of "call" in the King Arthur legend, where Lancelot felt Camelot "calling" him or in Roger and Hammerstein's musical "South Pacific" where the forbidden island of Bal'i Hi is "calling" to the sailors.
Umm... Valhalla is Odin's Hall, but Thor does not live there (he has his own hall), and Loki is Odin's Blood Brother, not son, in the myth. Thor's brothers are Baldr and Vidar, who represent Summer / light, and sheer strength, respectively. Baldr could not be harmed by anything in the Nine Realms except mistletoe, and Vidar had an iron shoe he could plant, and become totally immovable. In Ragnarok, Vidar kills Fenrir by planting his iron shoe on the inside of Fenrir's lower jaw, grabbing his upper jaw, and lifting, tearing Fenrir in half. Vidar is also the only Aesir who is described as fighting in Ragnarok who actually survives the battle, emerging from the World Tree with Magni and Modi (sons of Thor), Villi and Ve (thr brothers of Odin), and Ask and Embla (the primordial first humans, crafted from an Ash and an Elm by Odin and his brothers in the early days of Midgard).
@@Valandar2 First of thanks, I was getting ready to correct this guy. But keep in mind that this version of Ragnarok is just one version. The other it is a end of everything. There are also two different versions of Baldur.
Valhalla is not heaven, nor close. Fallen warriors go there and fight and die each day preparing for Ragnarok. But the Freya gets first pick of the fallen and they go to Folvangr. Quit taking your myth from Marvel
Awesome reaction to an amazingly epic song and video. Valhalla Calling is a viking cry on the battle field. Valhalla is vikings heaven. Basically they're saying Heaven is calling me.
In Norse mythology, Valhalla is the warrior afterlife, where people who die in battle go to fight for all eternity, sort of like Klingon Sto'Vo'Kor. This is an oversimplification, but it'll do for our purposes here. Authentically, it is pronounced with an initial voiced labio-dental fricative sound, closer to F than to B. This sound is common in Germanic languages but did not exist in classical Latin and likewise is not used in most dialects of modern Spanish, except possibly in loan words.
Eli once again created the backgrounds in Unreal Engines, like he did for My Mother Told Me and Enemy. However, this time they didn’t record green screen. They recorded in front of giant LCD screens playing the background. They really raised their game! If you look at the first pinned comment on their video, you will see that Miracle of Sound liked their interpretation. This is the second video in a row that they have gotten positive responses from the composers and original performers!
Valhalla is where warriors gather if (and only if) they die on the battlefield. It was shameful to die in your bed. In Valhalla, you greet the gods, eat and drink together, and tell stories of valor. If Valhalla is calling, it literally means you're called to die fighting for your cause. Battle chants got everyone worked into a berserker rage before fighting.
I love watching your reactions, especially when it's Voice Play, that said they just dropped their cover of, White Stripe's Seven Nation Army, So, there's that. Now we've both got something to look forward to.I can't wait to see your reaction to that.
In case anyone wonders why they look so shiny in some shots, when they were filming, the AC broke in the studio and since they wearing furs, they were sweating quite a lot ^^
In Norse mythology (Vikings) Valhalla is Odins hall , the place in the afterlife where those warriors who died honorably in battle would go after death
Hi, its from the PS -game Assassin's Creed First,Vikings Genre is the right word for this song or " my mother ..." An other Viking Song also an cover from voice play and others.😊
Valhalla is the Norse warrior's afterlife. If a Viking dies in battle he can go to Valhalla. So this is a war song the Vikings might sing before possibly being killed in battle. Geoff really impressed us with his B0 for a long time. I also love Eli's high metal grit! He should have been a rock star!
Miracle of Sound is the artist who wrote the song and as someone says they have seen this and gave it a ten out of ten as a cover. Valhalla is part of the Vikings' religion. To be worthy of getting to Valhalla you had to die bravely on the battefield. They also mention Odin's halls. Odon was ne of the Nordic gods. VoicePlay really went all out on this one and it's so intense. Who imagine that Cesar, sweet little Cesar. could look so fierce? Prononcing Valhalla must be tricky as I know that in Spanish it would be very different. The first part is like Val in the name Valerie or the word value or validate. And in English the double L is just said as L, as you would say hello. Your reaction was amazing. :)
For a lot of music good ear buds are fine. Certainly, good ear buds are better than crappy headphones. However, there are some laws of physics that not even Apple can break. I guarantee those earbuds did not accurately reproduce some of Geoff's lower notes with all the nuances of his voice in that range. I would encourage you to get a set of decent headphones. A larger driver will definitely help with the bass. If you get a pair with proper fit, they will be the most comfortable way of listening to music (that fit is as important as sound quality. I like ear cup style but on the ear ones are good as well.
H i Hi Sam.. new here.. and yes i cam because i have a crush on several members of this band >.> ... I am so happy you tackled this one.. but .. if you dont know these guys, you might wanna have a lower-your hormone-level sort of tea? ... some ppl HAVE actually gotten pregnant fro Geoff's voice.... .. but i will give a sub and hang out some if you want oddities like me :D
This cover literally took all the impact of the song away. It was supposed to be sung by Skalds, norse "battle bards" which usually had powerful and thunderous voices, such as Peyton Parrish from the ft video. Making this with low pitched and weak voices is just sad, it's like watching a big and powerful warrior yell but the sound of a little girl coming out of him. Just sad.
