Totally agree with the last hot take. Machine knitting is still handmade. In the case of the sentro its still very much using your hand to crank and weaving the thread on to cast on. Manually fixing dropped stitches,or manually creating them. Manually tying on yarns in a particular order if doing colour work especially intarsia on the sentro. Hand stitching or crochet the pieces together. Blocking the pieces. Then with the flatbed,the amount of different techniques for texture,ruffled,godets, weaving, intarsia,eyelets. And if you don't have a punch card slot you literally have to transfer every.single.stitch. yourself. Even with a pinch card slot there is still so much to do. You still use your hands every step of the way. It still takes hours. Acrylic yarn vs natural yarn. I spin my own yarn and so can use natural plant and animal fibre.BUT i still usually have synthetic fibres mixed in there for extra sparkle, to help it not pill as much. Plus just because its a natural fibre doesn't mean it's good enviromentally in all stages of making it. Plant fibers go through a lot of chemical processes just to make it easy to spin and card. And thats before dyeing it. If you can only afford acrylic, get the highest quality acrylic you can afford. Or source from second hand shops. Unravel old sweaters and reuse the yarn. Cut up tshirts into strips ,collect ribbon from old packaging. The snobbery in the fibre community is insane ❤

10000% agree on all points! It is so much work for all the reasons you brought up. Thank you for elaborating so well!!! Also I really appreciate your expertise on fiber choices. I totally agree about reusing yarn any way you can and am getting into that more myself. Of course there is so much nuance to what fibers people choose and it’s not so black and white!! 💖 also totally agree on the last point lol

I'm team "not stretched out false elastic properties" aka knitted ribbing. Knitting has genuine elastic properties, crochet doesnt.

I def agree. I want a pattern/tutorial for everything but I will never ask bc I’m a designer too. I think it’s a fair boundary to only sell finished pieces 🤷🏾‍♀️ if I can’t afford the price & miss the piece I want I’m blaming capitalism n the economy not the artist. 🤷🏾‍♀️ The knitting machine convo has always been unserious lmfao. Thank you for bringing up the comparison of a sewing machine

Omg right you totally get it!! I also def see other people’s work and would love to have a pattern/make something similar but right like if it’s not something they do I’m not gonna ask!! Also omg right it’s actually ridiculous hahaha

I agree with your hot take on pattern! There are some crochet artist that will copy and not give credit. I def don’t see issues with gate keeping, a pattern that you designed🫶🏾🖤🖤

Also bamboo, cotton, and other plant fibers are also vegan. I agree that acrylic fiber marketed as vegan is greenwashing. I prefer natural fibers as well. As a vegan myself, I know it’s possible to find natural vegan yarn that has similar properties to wool! However yes they are pricey :( hopefully one day it’s more common!

Yes yes yes on everything!!! I love plant fibers. Hopefully one day!!! If you ever want to get into it, buying naked yarn in bulk & hand dyeing it is a great way to save money. My yarn usually comes out to $5 to $8 per skein!!! Not that you asked lol

the thing with your hot take 9:40 i do understand where you are coming from, however maybe some people have specific body sizes too large or too slim or something and thats why they want to do it themselves but ofc the majority are like you said but im saying maybe some of them want to doit themselves because they know their measurements anyways, great piece you designed there it looks so beautiful

thank you so much!!! ❤️ I totally see where you're coming from! size inclusivity is super important to me. I offer made-to-order commissions for all of my pieces to be more size inclusive but it's always good to have empathy and not just be annoyed at someone for asking for a pattern!!

I love protein fibers. But there are vegan fibers that aren’t acrylic. Bamboo and cotton come to mind. It doesn’t automatically put you in the vegan=oil=yuck category. Not passionate about it. I knit wool and other protein fibers almost exclusively but wanna point it out. Like the video! Thanks for sharing!

But you could make a lot of money selling the patterns right ? you would sell a lot more than the items of clothing, and once the pattern is done it's "passive income" no ? I adore your work :-)
@lilyfoubisou
@lilyfoubisou Год назад
Thank you so much!!! Selling patterns can def be an easier way to make money since it becomes passive after all the work like you said!! It’s just not something I’m interested in tbh and since I don’t really do that it always annoys me when people ask me hahaha but only about specific items that I’m selling not as much about pieces I make to order or have already sold

hiii!! 📣ur number 1 stan is present.📣😂😂 i need to shutup!😂 i already have *quite* a few controversial opinions that ppl would def be off-ended by (not you though, haha) but 9:08 i agree .. like that “drop the pattern nonsense” is *sofa king* irrriiitaating. and tbh, ur more than a crocheter with a knitting machine, ur a knitwear designer. all this stuff that ppl say in the crochet/knit cOmMuNiTy bores me to tears.😂😂 i know i sound like a *jerk chicken* but just being honest. also, i think you *lowkey-highkey* started the crocheter with a sentro trend but your stuff happened to come out of that machine looking designer.. ok tangent..😂😂 let me stop.. cuz i’ll go on and on.. 12:10 omg! speaking of those videos..😂😂 14:21 i have soooo much to say.. omg..😂😂😂😂😂too much.. TOO. MUCH.

Ummm never heard of vegan yarn. I can see silk not being vegan but you don’t kill the sheep to get wool so I’m confused
@lilyfoubisou
@lilyfoubisou 5 месяцев назад
I get it! unfortunately a lot of wool is not ethically produced and sheep are subject to pretty cruel environments/treatments. I'm not an expert on this, but I think there's a pretty big lack of transparency of where a lot of wool is sourced!! but there is certainly ethical wool out there :)

Your dress is very cute but you really need to consider pulling it down as everyone can your private area completely. It is not attractive and it totally leave nothing to the imagination. Unless that is the look you are going for???

you literally can't that's the pink knit of the dress lol. I'm not posting videos to "leave things to the imagination". you're the one unnecessarily sexualizing my body in a video where I'm talking about fiber arts
