Bravo! Zhou Shen's one of the top amazing and incredible artists in the world! In fact, he's my favorite singer who can sing all kinds of genres, in different languages, sounds and all of them are of really high quality. Ppl name him walking CD, as quite often his live performance is even better than the CD record, no matter how the music equipments are esp. on outdoor stage. His music path is never easy for his unique voice and tiny outlook which is not widely accepted as an idol singer/artist. Luckily he has overcome all the challenges with his great passion for music, talents, extra efforts, positive manner, etc. Zhou Shen is a legend and deserves our appreciation, respect and treasure 💖 💖 💖

This song was composed by Yin Yue and Gao Xiaosong. Zhou Shen wanted to sing it when he was younger but Gao didn't give his permission because he thought that Zhou Shen wasn't ready for it yet. Five years later Zhou Shen recorded the song and sent the demo to Gao. This time Gao allowed him to perform the song. I like its mysterious vibe. When the composer gave this song to Zhou Shen. Zhou Shen couldn’t sing it either. For over ten years this song had been composed no one able to sing it. When Zhou Shen send the demo to composer. You can imagine how happy he was. Composer also praised Zhou Shen talents also praised Zhou Shen Shen how fast develops. Fastest learner he ever seen.

Holy sh!t I was so excited to see you chose this song! This is one of my absolute faves. Zhou Shen absolutely killed it. It's such a sultry, sensual song. He's my favorite artist - a true artist and a beautiful human. I look forward to more of him on your channel. There are so many amazing songs to recommend, it's hard to know where to even start. beautiful vocalization, but what I like most about is the highly poetic lyrics. Chinese is my 1st language but I can't quite understand the lyrics because it's too abstract, yet I appreciate how beautifully it's written. At one point he talks in first person about how he rings his own doorbell, enters his own house pretending to be a guest, and celebrate/enjoy his own party by himself; organizing and selling all of his manuscripts (which no one else is interested to read, I suppose) after he dies to buy a ferry ticket (to the next life I guess); I'm your child, your eraser, as well as your paper (but he's not talking to someone else, just himself as if he is his own "everything"). It sounds to me like an old poet dying in loneliness, who's longing for companionship but also doesn't mind being alone because he's so used to it... just my personal interpretation

Reminds me of something a Vampire would sing to seduce his victims into a trance-like state. I have no idea what the songs about, so forgive me if I'm way off. I'm also on allergy medication and a bit loopy at the moment. Whatever the case, it was as you say, STUNNING and oh so haunting. Love it! Great reaction as well :)
It is interesting that no one else has covered this song (I think). Most singers don't have the skills to do it properly! It took ZS 10 years before he got permission from the composer to sing it in public. No one dares to do it live!
all the negative emotions are packed into a single but beautiful song, the loneliness, sadness, struggling, dissatisfaction, unsettledness, disappointment, and madness can easily rip off your soul, you can fit it easily in the Joker movie. you're right, this performance is a very unusual journey for listeners.
Actual Song Title is “Listen to the Ringing of Your Doorbell “ It was written & composed by Mr. Gao Xiao-Song, musician, writer, director, host, and bibliophile and ex chairman of Alibaba Music Technology. He has composed many songs but has only allowed 2 singers to sing them to date. When he met Zhou Shen, he was most impressed and decided to sponsor and let ZS sing 10 of his compositions. Doorbell is one of the songs which He gave to ZS in 2016 or so to practice and interpret. However Mr Gao thot the ZS 1st version wasn’t good enuf and believed ZS is capable of putting far more emotions in this song. He asked ZS to send him the final version only if he himself feel he is satisfied with his final work on this song.. It took ZS at least 4 arduous years to practice to arrive at this version. After he sent the final version recorded in his iphone to Mr. Gao who promptly informed him over WeChat video that that was exactly what he was looking from from ZS. This song debutted in 2020 the Singers Show. Incidentally Mr Gao was the first person who truly believed in ZS’s uniquely creative talent, breathtakingly beautiful angelic voice, and personally invested in ZS. He invited ZS to his LAX home recording studio to record his first CD of 10 songs
