Even now, people in the UK still reference 4 candles. Their humour was never smutty, it was always silly. I always used to watch them on a Saturday evening, such a great family show. I used to like the Phantom Raspberry Blower sketches.
these shops, that sort of sold everything back in the day, were known as the general dealers or the corner shop, often these shops were and extension on the house, the owners lived in the back, like where you see the guy come from at then end, Back in then, there was no big stores, they would be in the town center, in the villages, they had these store, handy for day to day stuff, people were poor and not everyone could afford a car. They would ofther use these corner shops, get stuff through the week and pay on friday, so if you were a bit short of money through the week, you caouls still get some food for the family, and pay friday
When it was Ronnie Barker's funeral they carried four candles up the isle accompanying his coffin as a tribute. He's the bigger of the two Men. As far as I know, he wrote this sketch himself. He used to write Scripts himself under another name, so they'd be taken seriously. The comedy timing is perfect.
So glad to see other people reacting to the British Sense of Humour, these two were comic genius, when these guys were on primetime Tv they would attract audiences of 20 million+. There are so many other sketches from These guys "The Two Ronnie's" for you to enjoy, keep up those Laughs, there a tonic to our ears in these times that we live in. God Bless you both ❤ 🇬🇧🤗
I first saw this on British TV, (many years ago) and I have seen this clip innumerable times. Normally I do not like it when the people watching are commentating over the actual soundtrack, but this couple simply sit back and enjoy every second of this sketch, They will have my attention for future posts, as I enjoy a good laugh......Let`s face it, at my age (89) I do not much cause to have a good laugh these days.
Great reaction, guys. If you like this one, you'll love The Two Ronnies Sweet Shop sketch...where Ronnie Corbett gets his revenge as the awkward customer, on Ronnie Barker. X
Great reaction .... you should also watch ... Harry Enfield - Arsenal('33) Vs Liverpool('91) ... Unfortunately both Ronnies have passed to the other side... RIP
Hard to believe once the sketches were written they mostly improvised when doing them responding to each others reactions which just made them funnier and usually done in the one take.
Voted as one of the funniest sketches of all time in the UK. Have you watched the falling through a bar scene from "Only fools & horses" Another extremely funny piece of English comedy
The two ronnie were legends, sadly ronnie barker has passed, the larger one, couple sketches you might like, the racing pigeon crossed lines two ronnies round of drinks or with just ronnie after the other ronnie has had passed My Blackeberry isn't working enjoy, great job on your british content, your subs will go alot higher doing british content, we are proud of our heritage, culture
@@gtaylor331 i honestly did not know that, not sometijg i heard, i appologie for the wrong info, RIP ronnie, thanks again, i truefuly did not know, post adjusted
Saw tips, was clutching i thought, without being too pedantic you would of thought the guy would have bought the safety guard for the saw when he first purchased the saw.plus it seemed highly unlikely that he would order multiple saw tips, hence tips, any usual diy man would ordinarily ask for one, hence they would say saw tip.not tips insinuating they wanted more than one, never the less it was a fantastic sketch..
English comedy back in the day was brilliant there where so many funny shows if you want to see a show that would not be able to be on any tv love thy neighbour this is back when people didn’t care how talking to each other
Glad to see this simple but genius sketch from fifty something years ago still has the power to make people anywhere in the world laugh their socks off. That's the greatness of the Two Ronnies. The Billhooks joke at the end was a play on words as it's meant to sound like Bollocks, which is an English term for Testicles, and then the man asks, how many would you like, one or two. If you struggle with the accents, I would just try to percevere with it because the subtitles thing 100% never gets it right, and you will just end up even more confused. Great reaction though, enjoyed watching you.
Ronnie Barker (the big guy) used to submit sketches to his own comedy show under the name 'Gerald Wiley'. At a dinner held to meet Mr Wiley by his colleagues, he stood up & announced it was actually him and at first, they didn't believe it. Barker starred in a classic sitcom 'Porridge' set in a male prison where he played Fletcher, a wiley inmate. He often said in interviews, he regarded it as his finest work. Both Ronnies are sadly gone now. At Corbett's funeral, there were four large candles carried into the church.
I think this sketch has actually gone up in general estimation in recent years. I don't recall it as a stand-out before. Perhaps because they had a lot of good sketches. But it is certainly a good example of Ronnie Barker's wordplay - which is sometimes difficult for the uninitiated, because it relies heavily on the way people will tend to speak here. It wasn't a true double-act as such, because they were stars independent of each other and it's interesting to see how different their separate monologues to camera are.
Hi I'm new to your channel from the uk 🇬🇧 I love your reactions its great xx as you see this really old show these guys are brilliant but sadly no longer with us the British sense of humour is a bit crazy as you can see 😅
Great reaction but I would turn off the captions because quite often it's not putting what they are saying and probably turn up the sound a bit more love from the UK
