"cheerleading long version" omgsh i am never referring to pom poms as anything other than cheerleading - short version ever again LOL so cute~ thank you Sera
Well there was a pretty interesting performance that AoA did with a bunch of male dancers using this style back last fall on Queendom with a serious gender bend twist when they performed Mamamoo's Egotistic, and that was one of the most viewed performances from the show (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JXC7rtAVOzM.html). I get the impression that younger Koreans are more open-minded about such things or at least many of the artists are and increasingly the companies are okay with it, but obviously there are elements of society that aren't just as it is in many countries still. If you look at G-Idle's recent hit with "Oh My God" it's pretty clear based on the pronoun used in the chorus that it is a woman singing about desire for another woman. A decade ago I doubt a mainstream label would have allowed that on the album even as a deep cut let alone as the lead single, so attitudes must be changing enough that that didn't bother Cube or here with Chungha, this choreo didn't bother MNH. Neither company was worried about KBS, SBS, or MBC banning it from TV or the radio or a large negative reaction from fans.
Korea's making progress in accepting such things, especially amongst youth like in many parts of the world, but they still have a long way to go considering how conservative they are
her dance style is called waacking / voguing* ! and yes she is performing with female and male dancers :) thank you for reacting!! *very interesting debate going on in the replies correcting this part of my comment
Zhang Yixing is the King of China waacking and vogueing are frequently used together though, I understand why they worded it liked that, they’re very similar in genre and were both formed by the gay scene in the 80’s
You're right.... she's voguing... Reminders you Madonna... Male dancer in high heels and makeup is beautiful and different.... The new generation... Chung Ha looks gorgeous and very confident.... Her VOCALS.. Vogue, or voguing, is a highly stylized, modern house dance originating in the late 1980s that evolved out of the Harlem ballroom scene of the 1960s. It gained mainstream exposure when it was featured in Madonna's song and video "Vogue" (1990), and when showcased in the 1990 documentary Paris Is Burning (which went on to win the Grand Jury Prize at the 1991 Sundance Film Festival). In its modern form, this dance has become a global phenomenon that continues to evolve both stylistically and demographically.
There have been a few comebacks the past year that were underwhelming, so I was actually scared that Chungha's would be overhyped too. But thank goddess she served us with quality vocals, choreo, visuals, and production! So worth the hype and did not dissappoint 💯
YASSS you reacted to Chungha! Also I noticed you are almost at 100K subs let's get it y'all and help Queen Sera get to 100K! Do an 100K Silver unboxing vid pleasee when you do :)
The Voguing dance that is prominent here, with the music style, was popularized by Madonna---so that's probably why your subconscious or your memory knew it :-)
I’d love to see some analysis at the end of the video where you can go into some things that you may know about more in detail since you were an idol previously but no matter what still love the vids and thanks for showing the world your reactions for us to view
I do not know why people get stuck in one track, if i did not go from jazz to rock to metal-to new wave-I would never have hit techno, then edm, dub step, and then fused electronica then Gmv- Pop Stars and now this awesome fusion that is high-level art to me. Thanks, forgive a new fan who already will follow you where you lead in newer music.
Because Madonna has gotten older (and evolved), she isn't the Madonna we remember fondly any more...so someone else has to be _that_ Madonna. It's just old enough of a look to be cool again.
