Queen did indeed see this when she was on the show and they were so impressed they put it on their website and sent Angelina a message that she was welcome to cover any of their songs anytime. She grew up listening to jazz and blues by virtue of her grandmother. She now mastered the art of making the song her own. You are right Freddy would have loved it, maybe he still is listening and loving it. You should look further into her past. One in particular is " I put a Spell on You", however take your socks off first, because she will blow them off. I never did find one I was wearing the first time. She is 16 or 17 now and is on track to take over the world. I loved every thing she has done. I think you wil too.

Lady, welcome to the world of Angelina Jordan. A bit of history for you, Angelina Jordan (AJ) born January 10th 2006 in Oslo Norway. Dad is swedish Gerry Slattman, Mom is Japanese-Iranian Sarah Astar. Recorded by chance at age 1,5 years singing Whitney Houston in a microphone in English, at age 2 she discovers her grandparents jazz collection and listens to it for day on end. At age 3 she had planned her life through. Age 4 she decided, not her parents, to go to the academy for music and performing art and practices singing for about 36 hours a week since age 4. At age 7 she finally is allowed to participate at Norway Gots Talent (NGT) and wins it with overwhelming points. At age 8 she sings at a open air TV-event where she is introduced to Scandinavia. A few weeks later (I got this from different sources) she was ennobled The National Treasure of Norway. At age 9 they record the famous video "I put a spell on you" and Angelina gets her Nickname THE BOSS from the musicians, that sticks till today. To clarify, this is not AGT, it’s AGT the Champions, which means she already won a Got Talent show, in this case she won Norway’s Got Talent at 8 years old, she auditioned at 7 and she won just after she turned 8. She has had the attention of the music industry ever since she won NGT, she even performed at Quincy Jones’s 85th birthday celebration at O2 arena at his request and singing a song he himself arranged for Frank Sinatra, and Quincy Jones called her the most significant music artist since Michael Jackson. The reason you haven’t heard of her sooner is that she has always enjoyed the protection of her mother and extended family to ensure she had a normal childhood, which by all accounts they did accomplish. Queen was blown away by this performance and tweeted their approval, and they also allowed her the rights to release the audio of this performance herself, which is available on all platforms. She also already has an album that she made with the Norwegian Military Band that has been in and out of the top 10 on the iTunes Jazz albums chart, along with many other singles. I would never have thought that a 13-year-old could impress me, but this performance really blew my mind the first time I saw it. Many child prodigies mimic the original, but with Angelina I get the feeling that she has developed already a mature way of expressing herself through music, like a true artist, at age 13! If vocal trainers could train people to do that, they would, the amount of breathy tones used here would be hard for anyone to make feel right. This is more about her creating and loving it than anything. Crazy confidence. She is feeling it and connecting to it, allowing us to with her. Beautiful reaction thank you. Very much enjoyed it. She should be seen and heard everywhere and will be. But any support she can get to grow before her career really kicks off soon is a good thing. These things are a lot about momentum and she deserves to know she made it overnight when she releases her original album under Republic Records next year.

I insta-subbed 🙂 I've been following Angelina closely since she won Norway's got talent in 2014, at age 8. The auditions were performed while she was 7, but she had JUST turned 8 by the time of the final, which she won with a whopping 46% of the total votes, leaving 54% for the other 9 finalists. I am super happy that you found her, it's not a day too early. So far, Angelina has been completely protected from each and every shark in the business that have tried to get their hands on this once in a century talent. And there have been plenty of big sharks, like Disney and so forth. In 2020, at age 14, she signed with Republic Records on the premise that they would hold off from promoting her in any way until she's finished school. It so happens that that will be next summer 🙂 Her age suggests that it should be 2 years, but she was advanced one year. Another premise what that she's be given full artistic freedom. The artistic director of RR, Mr. Rob Christie, a two time Grammy winner, has taken on some kind of mentor role to her, and has so far been accompanying her on quite a few studio recordings and performances. Angelina seems to be in the best environment possible. Also her family, who has always been very protective of her, ensuring that she would have an as normal childhood as possible. Her manager is her uncle, Michael Astar. (Angelina's full name is Angelina Jordan Astar. Quite a suiting last name I dare say 🙂 ). Actually, most of her family can be seen in this video, if you look at the 5:32 mark. The 4 people you see closest to the camera is her uncle, then her mother Sara, holding her little sister Juliette, and her grandmother Mery Zamani closest to the camera. Mery, originally from Iran, was recognized as a child prodigy herself (like Angelina as well), and she excelled in writing and art. Mery is Angelina's single biggest idol and influence, and is more or less solely responsible for Angelina being where she is today. Mery would constantly play jazz in the house, and Angelina really started to show interest for the genre at age 3, though at that age she had already been singing for 1,5 years...LOL We have video proof of that. She was 1,5 years old. I guess that Mery quite early was able to pick up on the fact that there was something special with Angelina and her musical understanding. It takes one to know one 🙂 Angelina has received little to no vocal training, though she went to the Waldorf academy from an early age. Luckily, the vocal teachers and pedagogues understood quite early that they shouldn't interfere too much with what Angelina already got and try to make her to something else, if that makes any sense. Some of her coaches have stated that Angelina could teach THEM, and not the other way around. I said that Rob has been accompanying her on quite a few of her performances, and I hope you'll be thrilled to hear that Angelina has an extensive catalogue of music, with roughly 160 covers spanning at least 8 genres and 5 original songs as well. So there is more than enough for you to listen to before she takes off, hopefully next summer already. Angelina has been working for some time on her debut album, and she has confirmed that it contains a lot of her own stuff, and that it will be released next year. Angelina Jordan captivates from the first note, then treats each note as it is the most important while she makes us pay attention to meaning of the story the song was meant to convey. Her tone is beyond beautiful and her voice has a positive physical effect on me, like it is hugging my soul. Please take the time to read the biography I compiled for my all time favorite musical artist. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on RU-vid. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. *Why Angelina always performs barefoot* At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old. At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on RU-vid went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration. Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. All before Angelina turned 14. At age 9, Angelina recorded a music video covering the 1956 Jay Hawkin’s classic, “I Put a Spell On You”. The video begins by showing Angelina writing her “wishes” for how she wants to perform the song. Angelina has always created her own arrangements for her cover songs. At age 10 and just a week before her 11th birthday, Angelina recorded a demo of “I’m Still Holding Out for You”. Her family never pursued having that recording officially released but someone leaked it on a RU-vid video. Thankfully, everyone involved with that song is now ok with the leaked version. Many angels (fans) believe this is one of Angelina’s best performances. When Angelina was 11, she performed a number of concerts in Norway with a jazz/rock band. Those concerts included up to 14 songs, each remarkably performed. Angelina seems to be at her best when on stage, never nervous, only 100% confident. Also at age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year. During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each. In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina was eliminated after covering Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT. Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on RU-vid. Angelina has always made changes to each song she covers and often her version is preferred over the original. On RU-vid, search on The Complete Works of Angelina Jordan as Rusty Shackleford has put all songs in one file and has a complete playlist in the description of that video. The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her. During the pandemic, Angelina was often seen buying meals for the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles. In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one. Angelina had previously released, 3 other original songs: “What is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield” each one is beautifully written and makes me believe she will be writing songs for decades to come. In April 2021, her original “7th Heaven” was released. A jazzy, danceable, inspiring song. Angelina has posted numerous short performances on Tik Tok and Instagram. Angelina had concerts in Norway in July 2022. Personally, Angelina as a great human being and her music came into my life when I needed it most. Her music has improved the quality of my life more than I can express. I now introduce her to as many people as I can, with the hope her music will do the same for others. We know once her family believes the time is right and allows Republic Records to fully promote her, she will become the superstar she has always dreamt and believed she would be. Great reaction! You immediately "got" Angelina: she's a born artist and an incredible singer. And yes, it all came from her: the arrangement, the emotion, confidence, etc. And while Freddie obviously couldn't hear this, his band (Queen) posted a link to this video on their Twitter feed saying "WOW! Norwegian born Angelina began singing at the age of one and a half, and by age three was listening to jazz and classics legends on repeat. Her grandmother was her greatest influence, but Angelina chose her own path. Her first studio performance was at age 7, singing I Who Have Nothing. She won Norway's Got Talent at the age of only 8, singing old time classics from Billie Holliday and George Gershwin, and became the youngest ever vocalist to win an international Got Talent Show!
