Angelina recorded this demo on January 3, 2017, which was 7 days before her 11th birthday. The demo was never officially released but all parties involved are ok with this video being on RU-vid. Written by Brandon Lowry aka Baby Fuzz, along with a couple others. Angelina was the first to record the song and Brandon has his version on RU-vid. Incredible song, masterfully sung by Angelina, could be a huge hit but now is just a interesting chapter in her musical journey.
Great reaction! And kudos for what you said about her age, which is lost on most people hearing it for the first time. That being said, it really is nothing short of incredible that a ten, close to 11 year old girl can sound like this, don't you agree ? Totally mind boggling. Needless to say I guess, this performance is way up there on the favorites list for most of her fans, myself included. Much love from Norway, as always ♥♥♥♥♥
She created this demo when she was 10, and had it been formally released, there is no doubt in my mind that it would have been a huge hit. No reasons have ever come forth as to why it never reached fruition, but a few thing are known. At and around this age her mom has seen fit to make her change the 'dark theme' original lyrics. 'Back To Black' became 'Back In Love', 'You Know I'm So Bad' became 'You Know I'm So Good', and 'Rehab's' dark theme went to become about not wanting to go to school instead of 'rehab'. Now we come to this song and realize that in the latter section of the song she talks about being willing to hold her head under water for the object of her desires. This phrase connects to what could only be described as a self inflicted suicide, and that is much 'darker' than any of the three changes her mom ordered in the Amy Winehouse songs I mentioned previously. You will have people say it had no part in the song never being released, but based off what we already know about how strict her mom is with regard to lyrics her daughter sings, who honestly believes her mom wouldn't stop her from releasing this song in it's present form?
I don't believe in this unpublished-because-of-this-suicide-thing fairy tale for a second. Brandon wanted to sell this song and if Angelina's team had taken it and made it an Angelina original, it would have been a matter of minutes to age-appropriate the critical ending (just like the other cases you mentioned above). Nobody would have ever found out about the head under water part and this demo would never have been leaked. I'm sure there were other reasons - maybe because it would have become too big a hit at a time when it wasn't appropriate, maybe it didn't really fit Angelina's repertoire (Maria also noticed that it sounds VERY DIFFERENT compared to what Angelina sang at that age).
@@paulwagner9303 The ONLY thing I feel sure about is that in the demo we heard, there's no way Sara would have allowed it to be sung by her with those offensive lyrics. Was that the deciding factor, who can say? Would it have even mattered if Brandon was willing to lyrically adjust the song, again I repeat, who can say? There's a part of me believing that Sara didn't want her recording anything at that age, for don't you think that if Angelina's rewrite of 'Rehab' was released, it would have been a big hit for sure? I mean the lyrical changes in that song are insanely genius.
@@ridgemanron We all know that we don't know anything about it for sure. Brandon is the only one who ever said anything officially about it and even there you can read between the lines... I think we agree that the whole thing didn't have any chance in the form as in the demo at the time. What annoys me is the focus on the suicide thing that you hear in every third comment. The ENTIRE lyrics aren't particularly fitting, not just the ending (that's what I meant by not fitting for her repertoire) considering her age. That Sara didn't want an original with super hit potential at all at the time is an interesting thought, and that's exactly what I believe most of all - not a top hit whose consequences will demand more from an just eleven year old than she can handle. PS Apart from the whole debate it should not go unmentioned that it was brilliantly executed from an artistic point of view - and that's probably what the people who leaked it thought when Angelina was almost 13.
My take is that if it was truly a demo then it may have never meant for commercial release in the first place. Demos are usually just that, denos. Usually used to shop the song to other artists for possible recording, or submitted to record companies for a record deal or sometimes just to get an idea how the song works. Do we know why Angelina was asked to record a demo?
@@pjg58x there is info circling that the people who did this recording are the same who worked with Baby Fuzz. It seems that AJ's family did not want to proceed with the song (for whatever reason), so that's why Baby Fuzz didn't get the memo that AJ had even sung the song and he decided to proceed with his own version. Personally, I don't believe the suicide theory because AJ started with Gloomy Sunday and I also believe that the lyrics could have been easily adjusted. Angelina's debut album "It's Magic" release was just around the corner. My own theory is that most likely its master was already in the factory getting printed, so they didn't want this song draw attention away from its release. And let's keep in mind the fact that this song was not done with FS band like all the other songs on the album were.
All the images of Angelina here were at age 10, except for the crescendo part near the end , there she was 12 (singing her original song Shield on the Skavlan Show). The cute image at the end from her video of fly me to the moon in 2016 (age 10). For many fans this is her best cover song, though so many performances compete for that status...
Yes, this was an original song, demo’d by Angelina Jordan, right when the year turned 2017. Baby Fuzz, Brandon Lowry, covered his own song on November 30, 2018. She was 10, just a few days from turning 11. Whether it be the suicide issue or the fact that her family or shield thought that for a 10-year-old, the song would have charted, and they didn’t want to deal with the public asking them about the suicide issue, or whatever the reason could have been, they basically told the writers (there were two other writers, along with Baby Fuzz) no on releasing the song. Angelina Jordan said she would never sing this song again. I think this was just good foreshadowing for all the music that’s to come for Angelina. She’s just so spectacular! ❤
Anyone requesting this song should add some background on the song, at a minimum her age (1 week before turning 11) & the "Leaked" part is not to worry about. You're not the only reactor that almost didn't play it because it said it was leaked. Great song, great vocals, too bad it didn't work out since it could have been a hit, Imo.
She was 10, cutting a Demo. Afterwards Baby Fuzz tried to get Angelina's Mamma to buy the rights to be Angelina's song. She wasn't having that, so it was never released. It got leaked 2 years later and then pulled, but a fan had it long enough to put this Brilliant video together. It has not been rejected by either side, so it is okay to react. I like the picture where she is wearing the Crown, so Appropriate, God Bless!
10 years old. She was asked to Demo this new song that hadn't been recorded yet. The original artist, Brandon Lowry (Baby FuzZ), later recorded it. So it's a reverse cover. It was too good to stay in the studio. And all parties are reported to be okay with it being out now. Like other jazz songs she's done, it's heart wrenching and she delivers it so well. This is consistently considered one of her top 5, at least until the latest EP just came out.
Interesting back story isn't it. When I first looked into this it was that Lowery (who has written many hit songs) touted this around several A listers but had no success, so decided to record it himself. Not sure on the timing as to whether he already knew that the family wouldn't pursue Angie's demo, or just that he would do it himself anyway. Shame, as it was and still is imho a radio ready hit
@@davedawson7825 This "Leaked" video was uploaded to RU-vid on 12 Nov 2018. Baby Fuzz (Born:Brian Lowry. Stage name:Sterling Fox) uploaded his version on 20 Dec 2018.
I've heard speculation about this song. It was supposed to be a demo and not meant for release under Jordan's name. Hence "leaked." I've also heard her mother didn't want it released because it referenced suicide, but I also heard that the people around her was afraid it would be a smash hit and they didn't want to thrust Angelina into the white hot spotlight of fame like that. Considering that Disney came calling shortly after she won Norway's got talent and her family turned them down I can believe that
Hi 👋. Great reaction to 10 Angelina when recorded. A masterpiece that won't be. She did such a beautiful job on this. We can't wait until you buy download and react to each song on her new EP too. God bless you and your family 🙏 ✝️❤ 🙂👍
A 10-year-old here singing like a seasoned 30-year-old. I think this one reflects the most passion of anything she sings at this age.. if there were not contractual issues that prevented her from publishing this independently, no question it would have been a huge hit worldwide. It is just a fantastic piece of work. It was written by baby fuzz who recorded it, and you can find that online here. But Angelina was asked to sing the demo and this is it, and the demo got leaked. Your reaction reflects what most think of this song. Thanks for all, peace and love.
"I love you for all that you are, all that you have been, and all that you will be.!!!" - Miss. Angelina Jordan Angel Fan's Family Globally & Beyond...
Yeah 10. She recoded a Demo for Baby Fuzz to try to sell the song. Never sold. After leakied Fuzz released own version to protect copyright. Neither Baby fuzz or Angina asked for video to be pulled.
Surprisingly thin reaction for one of Angelina's arguably best early numbers..."very nice" does not start to describe this, especially considering her age. Ten year olds simply do not sing like this!
You'd "think" that when someone requests a specific song for a reaction, s/he would provide some background to the song and/or the artist instead of expecting the reactor to ask all the questions needed to appreciate the song. People don't seem to understand that most reactors are busier than a one-legged man in a shin kicking contest (yes, Scotland has such events). Reactors simply don't have time to research every single song, performance, or act they're asking to react to, edit their reaction videos and get it on RU-vid for OUR enjoyment! Please, show a little more respect to the reactors, people! 💕
This is a new song and a demo and not a cover or a jazz standard that carries its own nostalgia making it familiar first. This is a Hallmark song at 10 showing her young genius capacity at understanding and interpreting new music.
Great reaction, you were perfect about her age. I love this song, She was the first person to ever record this song, it was a demo that was leaked, then Baby Fus covered his own song, after he did not get anyone to buy it.
