Reaction - Angelina Jordan - Suspicious Minds - HYPNOTIC! 

You have not just stumbled upon a popular singer; Angelina Jordan is the greatest storytelling signature voice I have ever heard in my 76 years of appreciating the best the industry has to offer;

I've been in a trance listening to Angelina sing for three and half years now.

My thoughts on this, Yeah! She’s something special, isn’t she? Power & Pure Velvet Perfection! This vocal arrangement was all Angelina, I have no doubt in collaboration with a stellar team including Rob Christie & Mery Zamani her Grandmother. She is a Master Storyteller. The video is shot in the same Antique Store that she did 'My Funny Valentine' on Valentine’s Day. I believe it is in LA near her home. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. Thus the Antique store, She grew up studying and performing these classics. That is Rob Christie on piano. Sister Juliette and a couple of Uncle Michael's Babies. I think that makes them cousins not nieces. Full Black Leather Bodysuit, the guitar from his concert in 68 and the hair a homage to Priscilla Presley. Yeah! She can bring tears to your eyes. I base my interpretation on my knowledge of Angelina's journey from an 18 month old little girl singing a "classic" of music history 'I Will Always Love You' . She has been listening to these classics on repeat on YOU Tube since then under the guidance and inspiration of her Grandmother Mery Zamani. She has been performing these classics since her first time in studio at 6 yrs old.. She has continued this journey through her 1st introduction to the world with her "Classic'" 'Gloomy Sunday’ and following with her many performances at her many Jazz Festivals, TV performances, Concerts, and charity events, studio recordings and practice sessions at home accompanied or not. The location in the Antique store represents these classics (like the furniture) of another era. To me she portrays wonder at all these classics surrounding her. as she has travelled this road. Her tribute to Elvis is at her present age, today, each stage represented by her cousins and sister and ending with Angelina herself on the couch still admiring all this history surrounding her. The beautiful rendition of the song, and other tributes are in the leather outfit, Guitar and hair a tribute to Priscilla. Just my interpretation but it makes the most sense to me. ♥👣👸🏻

My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As the video starts out, we see dishes, and it is a symbol of a home. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust.

The baby and very little girl are Angelina's cousins, the pre-teen girl is Angelina's sister Juliette, and the piano player is Rob Christie, Director of the Republic Records LA studio who has been working with Angelina since she signed with that record label in 2020 when she was 14 - she is 16 in this video.

She plays guitar, piano, violin and speaks seven languages. She runs children's charities and has raised bazillions for them. She's also not from this planet. 👍😇🦶🦶

Angelina Jordan epitomizes the word ARTIST. There is something about every cover AJ does, they always sound much better than you have ever experienced them in the past. It is more than remarkable; it is astonishing how she affects one's innermost being by drawing you in and holding you as you anticipate each heartwarming phrase. Think about it, 16, but at any age she is making musical history, sheer genius. It is no wonder that Stargate Production Co. (Beyonce, Rihanna, Sam Smith) signed her at 14, and Republic Records, the largest record label in the world signed her at 14.

What a glorious production, praise to everyone involved, so perfect for Angelina Jordan she rules the universe with her talent. Again, the great talent of Rob Christie playing the piano. The Cinemaphotography, a total MASTERPIECE, Excellent ART Cole McCarthy! Great touch, the cousins and sister get a cameo. Mery, you should be so proud, AJ's grandma produced this. (This red guitar is identical to the one Elvis played in his 1968 concert on TV.) Oh, the tears, and loss of breath, she is like no other in the universe. Here is a classic example of what this ethereal talent, Angelina Jordan, can achieve she takes a mundane song and turns it in to phenomenal classic. Angelina at 16 is the MASTER of her universe, she is top priority for both Stargate, and AJ's voice has been unique since she was 7 years old and now at 16, she controls us as an audience, leaving us hang on every word and phrase. She has written a number of songs.

I can listen to this rendition hundred times and I will continue watch/listen to over and over again…our angel Angelina is simply the best..

This was recorded to dust off the history of Elvis Presley ahead of the release of a documentary/movie in the middle of 2022. Tom Hanks played Elvis' manager, Dustin Butler as Elvis. Also this song and many pieces of this video commemorate the 1968 Elvis Comeback Concert that was televised. That red guitar, while not the actual same guitar, same make and model, is one that Elvis barrowed from one of his band members that night because it matched his outfit. The hair an homage to Priscilla. Again you see why Angelina is incomparable! She covers songs and makes them her own. Each special and sensational. Tears are allowed and expected. The baby and other young child are Angelina's cousins, Angelina's manager and agent, Uncle Michael Astar's daughters. The other young lady is Juliette, Angelina's younger sister. Tlhis set is an antique furniture store in LA used for several takes of different songs. "Suspicious Minds" was done first and then after a wardrobe change, she sang Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing." Rob Christie, Head of Studio Productions for Republic Records is accompanying on the piano here on "Suspicious Minds," as he has done often with Angelina. He is a Grammy winner himself. She wears the boots onto the set but sings barefoot as always. She is a gift to us all. After more than 200 covers and a few originals, I have no doubt she is the finest female vocalist to ever live. No one has ever had the combination of talents that this young lady possesses.

She announced and teased a new song drop from her EP coming out soon. It’s called Now I’m The Fool. We’re all psyched. This Elvis cover is sheer magic.

Angelina's voice affects everybody in one way or another. This woman I know and I were sitting and listening to Angelina cover Rihannas " stay," she looked at me and said she felt like she was having an out of body experience. I've never felt that but she does have a habit of bringing a tear to my eye😊

Thank you for returning to Angelina. Your reactions to her performances are always worth watching. The song was written by Mark James, an American singer/songwriter, who recorded it the year it was written. The best known version, however, was that done by Elvis Presley. It was his last No 1 song. In the Wikipedia entry of the origins of the song, Mark James is said to have remarked "That late one night, he was fooling around on his Fender guitar and using his Hammond organ pedals for a bass line and came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James's wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of." Other singers covering this song invariably base their performance on that of Elvis, in that it is very "upbeat". Angelina took a very different path in that she read and understood the lyrics and what Mark James intended when writing them . To my mind, her rendition is much truer to the emotions of the song. The children appearing in the video were Angelina's cousins Aurora (first) and then Athena - daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, and then her sister Juliette. I would hazard a guess that they were included to emphasise that children are very important to Angelina and her family. Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along).

According to an accompanying letter from Casey, he was asked to let Elvis use the guitar by the producers, as they "thought it would look beautiful on camera and with the set." The ‘68 Comeback Special marked Elvis' return to live performance after seven years spent focused on acting in Hollywood films. The televised concert, which launched Presley's return to live touring, featured him playing the Hagstrom for the opening segment as well as during one of the live "stand-up" segments. Suspicious Minds was the last hit Evils had in his career.

You are doing great & you'll get even better with time. Don't let negative comments get you down, unfortunately people write things in a comment that they would never say to the person's face. If they are too bad then just block them. I prefer to use the word "mesmerizing" for Angelina's music rather than "hypnotic." If you are hypnotized you can't come out of the trance, but if you are mesmerized you can come out of the trance, but you just don't want to.

This was really a kind of in memoriam to Elvis, from the empty piano at the beginning to the mirrors looking back, the Priscilla Elvis hair, the leather, guitar and even the red jump suit worn by the pianist, echoing the costume of Elvis's backing band on his comeback concert. Angelina is the master of respect when it comes to honouring the greats. A wonderful reaction!

Going onto 1-1/2 year trying to process this, because Angelina is simply a phenomenon never encountered before; she makes me wonder whether Homer knew about legends of some long lost singing techniques when he described the hypnotic Sirens that Ulysses encounter in the Odyssey, and whether Angelina rediscovered them.

AJ wrote a tribute song to her grandfather who left this mortal coil. The live in studio version is the best vocally. Her crying into the void between them will rip you to shreds, but her astoundingly good lyrics will help you heal by the abrupt end. If you've ever lost a loved one, she will help to heal those deep wounds. Those we lost are not far away, they exist in the tears we shed for them. Great reactions, thank you.

A nice reaction! Her Grandma, Mery Zamani, helped produced this. She used the same store (Melrose Gallery) she used for her My Funny Valentine and I Have Nothing videos. Her sister Juliette was the older girl and the 2 younger girls are her Uncle Mike's kids. 2- time Grammy winner Rob Christie is on piano once again. He is also the music director of Republic Records, the music company she is signed with. The beehive hairstyle was to honor Priscilla Presley and the time period she met Elvis. The black suit and red guitar was a classic look for Elvis from his comeback concert. What a performance and homage to The King! A great job by Angelina! She was actually lucky enough to meet Priscilla Presley at a private screening of the most recent Elvis movie.....

AJ plays the keyboard/piano, guitar, flute, and violin. She speaks several languages, her native language is Norwegian, English, Japanese, her paternal grandfather was Japanese, and Arabic. Grandma Mery is a famous artists/painter, and poet, and is Iranian, she was a child prodigy, also. Wait till you experience her singing in Japanese, she is the 8th wonder of the world.

He wasn’t a songwriter but a great performer and interpreter of songs. The song was written by and originally recorded by Mike James. Of course Elvis had a huge hit with it. Angelina pays homage to Elvis in many ways in this video including the Pricilla Presley hair.

Mark, James was originally I put it out on and put it up. It is considered industrial favor for failure so they gave it to Elvis Presley. He brought the number one. This was the last number one hit of all the all the time and Angelina’s gonna do suspicious mind her way she’ll start of the bridge and you’ll enjoy her voice. Not only because of her voice and the tonality of it, or her singing techniques, but also because of her extreme versatility. So far she has been covering more than 80 different artists, spanning at least 9 genres. I guess you're a Christian, as you said "the higher the hair, the closer to God". If so, I guess you're familiar with the song How Great Thou Art. I believe Angelina was 12 years old when she covered it. And she sang it in the same key as Elvis. I have been listening to angelina since 2020 when I discovered her from AGT. I never ever thought anyman could ever cover an elvis song. Now angelina covered many elvis songs. I like her versions better than elvises. RIP Elvis. Who would ever think a little norwegin girl would knock elvis off the pedastal he was on. But she did.
