truly sad, glad they released the return to eden video-album from 2012 which is a great milestone they set! All of you won`t be forgotten, for you shaped and inspired so much music and so mutch bands that followed..............No words, just : Thank you for the music!!!!!
Funny anecdote - According to the classically trained Billy Currie, Midge Ure wasn't a fan of the classical romantic feel of the song's orchestration, and said: "This means nothing to me," to which producer Conny Plank replied: "Well, sing that then."
Hi Psyche. We have conversed previously on some of your Nightwish reactions. I have loved Ultravox since '77 when John Foxx was the lead singer, and I drove my mum mad when this came out! I bought the 'Vienna' album on Cassette would you believe? lol. A few fun facts for you Psyche. Ultravox were originally called 'Tiger Lily' before adopting the name change to Ultravox! The exclamation mark was removed when Foxx left to pursue a solo career in 1979, and the band were dropped by Island Records. Midge Ure was born James Ure. Although he is not a tall man, his nickname has nothing to do with his height. When he was in Teeny-bop boy band 'Slik', there was another James (Jim) in the band, so young Jimmy Ure turned his name-around to form 'Mij' to avoid confusion. Finally, the night scenes at both the beginning and end of the video were filmed in Covent Garden, and not Vienna. Happy memories in a time when I was 15 and yet to take my O-Levels. Then life turned to shit!!!! lol. Take care dear Psyche : - )
Another fun fact. The tarantula in the video that creeps across Julian Temple's face is apparently the same tarantula that crawled over Sean Connery's shoulder in the Bond film Dr. No. Wonder if the videos director Russel Mulchay mentioned that to Sean when he directed him in Highlander a couple of years later? Great song, my favourite still today.
For many the Clash : London calling is the song that introduced the 80's. Then I'm thinking back to my youth in the early 80's; the soundtrack that I hear inside my head is "Vienna" every time....
Hi, i find it so great that you were enjoying this without the need to interrupt each 50 seconds as many other channels do, maybe a surprising comment but i don't really understand how it is possible to appreciate a song to the full extend without being able to let it play without interrupting ... So for my part, i thank you so much for that, and by the way, you expressed yourself very well even being silent :)
Makes me proud to have the 80s and 90s as my music eras. I am sure every generation says it but I do believe they were and still are the best. Still relevant today even by the current gen. Loved your reaction, made my tear up ❤
