@the baron hi u se joike is a kinda song that dosent mean stuf like words but u can dedicate joiks for stuf so its kinda singing u can sing about ur dog whit a joik

@the baron ~ in very old teachings about the joik, the song is non-different from the person, place, event, or obejct that is being sung to or about. So, if you sing about someone who has died, you are literally calling their essence into presence. If you sing about a river, you are singing the essence of the river and the sound of the song is considered the subtance and force of the river. (For those who are science fiction and fantasy readers, Ursula K LeGuin used this concept for "A Wizard of EarthSea" about how everything has a unique signature n sound and knowing the name or sound of a thing gives you power over it). The intimate connection of the Sami with the natural world is expressed in joiking as are the sacred relationships between people. Having this band win and win big is a BIG deal in Norway for Sami people, who are the Indegenous people throughout Northern Europe and parts of Eurasia. Their language and joiking were outlawed for MANY generations and so were their spiritual traditions, traditional crafts, and artwork. I can only imagine how much pride Sami people have to feel at these younger musicians really claiming their dignity and sovereignty. Some of my ancestry is Sami and *I* am bursting with pride from across the pond in America.

His name is Fred

Fred Buljo... comes from Sami musical "royalty" of sorts, for lack of a better word. His father is the Sami musician and artist Georg Buljo who was a pioneer in merging traditional Sami music and joiking with modern techno. Georg also recorded and toured with Mari Boine who is the godmother of Sami music.

Norway won once in the 80's, once in the 90's, once in the 2000's. This is the last chance to win it in the 2010's and keep the streak going.

Not every 10 years, but each decade - 1985,1995, 2009. Fingers crossed for this year, last chance for a win this decade.

I read that the name KEiiNO actually comes from Kautokeino, so here is a lot of weight behind that too.

@@louisesn8319 ja, den med Norge i. Og det er ikke første gang det feires 17.mai borte! Det er nok rart for artistene, men den norske Grand Prix klubben, som er med på turene, er vel nærmest blitt vant med det, ettersom mange finaler blir arrangert rundt eller man er i gang med forberedelsene på denne datoen. I 2009, var det jo hjemreise for Alexander og co om kvelden 17.mai etter at finalen ble arrangert den 16.
