REACTION!! First Time Hearing: Reacting to Nightwish - 'Tribal' 

Hello Twisted Whiskey Reactions [ Twiztid Whiskey Reactions ] ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This video is from their recent tour (2022-2023) promoting the "Human :||: Nature" 2020 album, with images from several concerts, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). Floor is married to Sabaton's drummer Hannes. She is Dutch, but Nightwish is Finnish with one member from the UK.

Yes, she performed pregnant during the second half of this tour. I saw her and Nightwish this summer in Stockholm in early June, and she was heavily pregnant but performed like nothing was different. Headbanging, windmilling and jumping around. Unfortunately, they had to cancel the last performance of the tour in Norway at a festival. This was because she collapsed after the second to last show in Finland. She got her second little girl in October. This song was just as EPIC as this video when I saw them live - Incredible sound live as always.

Floor was out there kicking ass late into her pregnancy. She eventually had to stop at the very end, but man she always gives 100%.

The Islander Arms was a virtual concert Nightwish created during covid lockdown times when no concerts where allowed so they came up with a virtual concert which people paid to get exclusive access online to view. At the beginning of the tour, Floor was diagnosed with benign breast cancer and successfully treated. As she herself admitted, she came back to the stage too early. In the middle of the tour she became pregnant. Parallel to the Nightwish tour, she went solo and recorded a solo album. After the penultimate concert she collapsed and had to cancel the last Nigtwish concert. She moved her back to her small farm and later canceled her last two solo concerts. She is now the mother of her second daughter. Floor is the third singer of Nightwish. The band was founded in Finland in 1996 by mastermind and keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen, with Tarja Turunen as vocalist. Nigthwish is one of the co-founders of Symphomic Metal and Tarja established opera singing in Metal: NIGHTWISH - The Phantom Of The Opera (OFFICIAL LIVE) Due to private and artistic differences, she was fired in 2005 and replaced by Anette Olzon (who is Swedish): Nightwish - Come Cover Me live Montreux Jazz Festival 2012 HQ In 2012, an argument escalated in the middle of the tour and two days before the next concert the band no longer had a singer. Floor must travel from her home country of Holland to the USA within two days and memorize 1.5 hours of setlist: Nightwish - Ghost Love Score (WACKEN 2013) Before Nightwish, Floor was in two other bands: AFTER FOREVER - Energize Me (OFFICIAL VIDEO) ReVamp - Disdain Live at Graspop (2010) In a few months Nightwish will release a new album, but will not go on tour. So you entered the Nightwish journey in a peculiar way. Cool by me, but I do need to inform you. The songs Tuomas (on keys) write they often go deep into his (at times tormented) soul. There is merit to read his story front to back and not pick out random pages. Many reactors only talk about the moment a video was dropped or created. But for this specific band I suggest you always check when it was written. For the order to check the songs out, you can use Gabriels list (already spotted his comment) . It sticks to this singer (they have had others) and gives you plenty of flash-back and flash forwards to keep it interesting, but does not mess with the timeline in a way that you will miss the context of the songs.

Hi man, great reaction! This band is my favorite band of all time. And even though Sweden cant take credit for Nightwish we are still proud to say that Floor lives in Sweden. As you heard this band is really badass and if you want another badass song you should react to their song “yours is an empty hope” live in Mexico city.
