The first time that I heard this, I was at their 2018 Christmas show. The whole show, they were each mic'd separately and the power of their voices rang through the room. They left at the end of the show, and THIS was their encore. They came back on stage around that 1 microphone and began the song... WITH THE MIC OFF! The whole room (close to 1000 people) went totally silent as we thought that their equipment had failed. THEN we realized that they were presenting it in TRUE acapella - no amplification... At the end of the first part, the sound guys slowly raised the volume and by the end they were back to normal volume... BUT the room was STILL silent with the beauty of the presentation... They went on to perform a few more songs, but that moment was amazing.
maybe this will help.. Auld = old, lang =long, syne= since. Old long since (old times long gone) , its Scottish...a Celtic language. meaning for the sake of times long past. The song is basically a toast to old times and old friends. I swear that the tones and harmonies ...almost sound like a wonderful blend of bagpipes at one point in this song. Happy New Year.
Isn't amazing to think that 3 months after this reaction video was made... the world locked down and we are all, collectively, clawing our way out of that hole.... Beautiful reaction to a timeless poem, written by Robert Burns, 'The Bard of Scotland' and put to most heart touching music....
So glad you had your headphones for this one. You would have missed so much. This one, with those ultra tight harmonies, gives me goosebumps. Happy New Year 🎉🍻🤠
Oh, those voices, they are so beautiful seperate and together. Thank you for that reaction, I watched your facial expressions during the video. Happy New Year to you !!
Thank you as well, for your most wonderful emotional heartfelt reactions to so many great songs...from HomeFree ..as well as many other artists!! God Bless u young lady and all of your loved ones in 2020!
I hope you are having a Wonderful New Year!! Loved this reaction, I know, surprise LOL!! Looking forward to a full year of content to watch. :) You never disappoint!!
You should react to their video for "Love Me Like That." It's Austin's song about his most recent relationship and is just so raw and emotional. It has brought me to the brink of tears many times because it's so beautiful
Thank you for putting in the effort to try and pronounce Auld Lang Syne correctly! Your "Auld" was a bit off, but at least you tried and didn't just say "Old" like everyone else haha. I've been thinking about how to explain how to pronounce it - think of the pronunciation of awning, or the way they say Anna in Frozen, Aw-na. That's kind of how you say Auld - Aw-ld. And well done for saying Syne right instead of Zyne - it sounds the same as "sign".
The easiest way I have found to explain how to pronounce Auld to anyone who isn't Scottish is getting them to say 'mulled', as in mulled wine, then to say it without the m. As for Syne, using the formula Cosine, but without the Co. For me personally, the best version of this song belongs to Runrig. 👍
So Auld lang syne was written in 1788 and the words themselves are Scotts Gealic (Scottish). Its a phrase that, as it was explained to me, literally translates as 'Old times past' and has two meanings. The first is literal and simply means a time long past, and the second is as an expression that means "For old times sake". I though that was cool. Now, if you want to branch out, please react to "The Longing" - Patty Gurdy (Hurdy Gurdy Music), this is a solo thing, but Patty Gurdy also plays in a...pirate themed heavy metal band called the Storm Seekers. Not really *my* thing, but I can see their appeal, and you might like them. *edit* OH and she recently released a song that's apparently going to be in the movie Carnival Row? Don't know much about that, but its a cool song called "Grieve No More"
Patty Gurdy has a very good version of Over the Hills... Other things you might want to check out are: Lindsey Stirling Delain Frozen Crown Nightwish Unleash the Archers Sina Drums
still happy to be in a new decade? this year has literally been the worst since I'v been alive. this is a beautiful rendition but I'll always prefer the original Gaelic lyrics to it, idk why just sounds better to me being of Irish decent.
