LOVEBITES is back from hiatus : The first songs with the new bass player Fami. Lovebites has been around since 2016, and the women became more famous worldwide after performing at several major festivals, mainly in Europe, starting in 2018. 2018 - Wacken - Open Air in Germany 2018 - Bloodstock Open Air in England 2019 - Graspop Metal Meeting Festival in Belgium 2019 - Download Festival in Spain In 2020, their career was abruptly interrupted by Corona. But they masterfully overcame the crisis, got married and had babies. In 2021 the founder Miho left the band for personal reasons and it went into a hiatus which lasted until the end of 2022. In the fall of 2022 they found a young fantastic bass player and in 2023 they released a new LP. The new LP reached the 5th place in the Japanese charts. Japan is the 2nd largest music market in the world and it is very rare that in these times a rock band comes so far forward. They have a new bass player who is just 21 years old since the original one from this video left in August 2021. She is phenomenal too. thanks tim - knew you would love them. midori and miyako are THE best duo of guitarists on planet earth at this time. they pretty much do these back and forth solos and the combined harmonies in almost every song. and drummer haruna is a machine. her star cymbals are for show and she spins them at the beginning of many songs. the bassist here is miho - who originated the band in 2016 with haruna. but she left the band 2 years ago due to personal reasons and after about a year hiatus a new bassist - fami - stepped in and the band is back in full force. vocalist asami - the one and only voice - gives you chills every time. many many epic songs to check out from them

They always plug Priest' Diamonds & Rust before the show starts, so you might not be wrong on where they take the inspiration for the dual solo xD Welcome to this Lovebites journey, it is a long path of awesome music and some of the most awesome metal videos ever. Request request...they lost their bassist and band leader in 2021 and went on hiatus for some time, as two members became pregnant too. Luckily this year they are back with a new bass player and they have just dropped a new Bluray together with three videos, you can check those, both the three of them are awesome. The songs that are portrayed are "The Hammer of Wrath", "Nameless Warrior" and "Judgement Day". Oh and the members, _asami_ sings, _midori_ is the tan/blonde guitar player, _miyako_ is the other guitarist and main composer, _haruna_ drums and _miho_ and _fami_ were the old and the new bass players. _fami_ was only 20 years old when they recruited her past year.

There seems to be a misconception that Japanese bands, particularly female bands, are a package, that if you like one you have a duty, if not to like, then to experience the others. But your opening comment after the intro, that Lovebites are a metal band is both accurate and relevant. I’m often urged to check out Band Maid, BabyMetal, Aldious, Nemophila…the list is huge. But it comes as a mortal shock to many when I tell them that, from descriptions such as yours of Band Maid, I already know that they aren’t going to have the same impact on me as Lovebites had, because they won’t be playing the kind of music that attracted me to Lovebites in the first place. I’m 63. It’s *because* I’m 63 that I recognised in Lovebites a style of music that hasn’t been played, certainly not played to the standard they play it, for decades. I’m also someone who repays loyalty with loyalty. Lovebites following is, it may surprise many to learn, tiny…even in Japan. But they appreciate, give time and energy, and genuinely love their fan base. That simply encourages the same in return. Lovebites are not “A” band I like, they are “THE” band I like. That I follow (literally) and that I support in any way I can. That has never been the case in all my years of having and following idols. Lovebites are one of a kind. A once in a lifetime group of beautiful, talented, fun, friendly and genuinely appreciative individuals.
Thanks for your perspective. I agree for the most part, but those connections people make between these bands(even if they aren't completely connected) leads others to them. I found Baby Metal on my own and they're uniqueness is what hooked me. Then watching reactions to them had me hearing about Band Maid(tho completely different). Then hearing those people talking about Lovebites or The Warning or Nemophila(the last 2 I still haven't heard yet).I'm so glad others made that connection for me and I get to listen to them all. Yes I noticed what you said about lovebites being heavy metal and band maid are more of a rock band, that one statement was refreshing and made me sit up and listen more, knowing the difference between the genre is missing in too many reactors, enough for me to subscribe. LOVEBITES was formed in 2016 by Miho(Ba) and Haruna(Dr), members of the band "DESTROSE", which went on hiatus in 2015. The girls made their major label debut in 2017 (March 24) with "THE LOVEBITES EP". On 18 June 2018, LOVEBITES won 'BEST NEW BAND' at the Metal Hummer Golden Gods 2018 awards organised by the British metal magazine METAL HUMMER. On 4 August, LOVEBITES performed on the W.E.T stage at WACKEN OPEN AIR 2018, one of the world's largest annual metal festivals in Germany, with the 10,000 capacity venue almost full. "Bloodstack open air 2018(Aug. 10)" also participated. On August 20,2018, LOVEBITES announced that it has partnered with X-ray Touring, one of the largest players in the UK booking agent industry. LOVEBITES toured the Netherlands, Germany, France and UK from November 13-21, 2018. "Tokyo DiverCity" is pronounced "Tokyo diversity", NOT three seperate words, "Tokyo Diver City" (there is no such place, lol). It's a play on the word that's really freakin' out the tin-foil hat Qanon crowd. LMFAO!!! The Japanese are proud of their positivity and diversity as a country, and they're really good with English language word-play.
