He has the line "lord if your five foot three and your three hundred pounds, taxes aught not pay for your bags of fudge rounds". He stated people kind of misunderstand the basis behind that line. He had read an article that contained the statistic that 75% of food assistance money goes towards the purchase of food that is categorized as snack foods. Many times it was because lower income families are more likely to have issues with being able to shop at actual grocery stores whether due to transportation or location or long work hours. So they end up getting food from local convienence stores. He didnt intend for it to be taken as a dig at overweight people or even those on welfare

Sad commentary on life today. However, it has always been like this for the working class, versus the wealthy. The disparities & taxations have not changed since my youth. The song from my childhood was: Ol' Man River. Look up the lyrics & read the struggles of life on the Mississippi. Now, a white man in our society today, is singing the same mournful tune. 😢

True the reference to the minors on the island is time sensitive, but the part about the people in power thinking that those who are not thinking that the common man do not realize that they are trying to control every aspect of their lives.

I'm agnostic...his message is great, as is this review. Rap and country are closer than you woul think...they both tell stories. Raps more fun to listen to for me, but I respect true country storytelling.

. my hubby started a school bus business over 45 yrs ago... 1 bus.. made it into the largest bus company in our state.. working 90 plus hours a week... The buck stopped with him.. everything was on his shoulders.. 220 employees and their families depended on him .. he couldn't sleep at night sometimes from the pressure.. He sold the business about 8 yrs ago .. and the government is taxing him to death now because he actually made some money.. why is that fair. He will 68 2 days from now.. and now his biggest problem is trying to keep the government from taxing him TRIPLE at this point..Because he worked his butt off his entire life he's being punished, almost, because he was successful.. Something is wrong.
