This was an event held for 18 year olds across Japan since the voting age changed to 18 from 20. As a band they selected 1000 people from videos of 18 year olds all over who showed any kind of dream/determination/energy/power an 18 year old has, to both show Japan that 18 year olds are old enough to make decisions, and encourage other teenagers to hold this new responsibility without being crushed by it. There are videos of ONE OK ROCK selecting the 18 year olds and watching them one by one, whilst Taka also gets inspiration for this song.

@@KDarlings BTW: What They said BEFORE the Song started is also important. That Video You Reacted to was missing both the intro Performance by some of that Audience as well as the Pre Performance mini-Speech by Taka (Like the one Post Performance). It just started Right at the Song... (and it had Chinese Subtitles on everything, which is mostly useless since China tends to block RU-vid completely) Like I said in another Comment, I can Share with You the Archive I did of the Blocked Video that has ENGLISH TRANSLATIONS for Everything said in Japanese. C Ya L8r then!. *;P* .

Also: - Even though the Voting Age changed from 20 to 18, the "Adulthood Age" for everything else by Law is still 20. So They're supposed to Vote on things that affect the Country while They are still considered _"Children"_ ... And obviously, the "Older People" don't Like that _"irresponsible People/Kids"_ can Vote... So You could expect a HUGE abstention rate on ages below 20 anyway from "peer pressure" alone (to keep up "appearances" about Your "Public image" that is taken very seriously in Japan). It's like that other ONE OK ROCK Song with the Paradoxical Title: - "Stand out, Fit in". People must, somehow, be able to "Stand out" from others in order to be selected for Jobs, have "a Voice", and other important stuff, but, at the same time, Society Forces Them to "Fit in" and be Like Everyone else. They even have "a saying"/proverb for it that roughly translates into: - " The Nail that Sticks Out WILL Be Hammered in." Note that they're talking about"People", not actual "Nails" (it's a metaphor/parable). And Japanese Society as a whole enforces it, sometimes even Bullying then info place/"Conformance"... (No Wonder They have a Bigger Suicide rate than most other Countries, with all the Pressure to be Like "everyone else" - which normally means "Overwork" and, because of that, HUGE amount of "Stress", when not actual *"Death by Overwork"* - Japanese even has an actual Word for _that_ ...) I've Ranted for Long enough, I reckon, so I'll take My Leave. Bye then. .

@@TheBest_F-22 hey, know-it-all Gaijin Your prejudice and know-it-all are embarrassing. Why do you act like you know this even though you're not even a Japanese and have never lived in Japan? What you write is the same not only in Japan but all over the world. Your knowledge is typical biased information obtained from the internet. "Stand Out Fit In" is not a story about Japan, but about immigrants living overseas. The video is about Asian american people living in America. It's a story of discrimination in America and trying to fit in with the locals.
@novrinkov0053
@novrinkov0053 9 месяцев назад
@@TheBest_F-22 Please don't believe too much exaggerated information made by Westerners. Japan's suicide rate is high, but it's not even in the top 20, and it's not much different from America. Suicide rate. Africa and Eastern Europe have higher suicide rates than Japan. When it comes to depression rate, America, Brazil and Europe are the top countries, but Japan ranks 115th. Furthermore, the reason for suicide in Japan is economic, not depression. Bullying? many of the reasons for suicide in kids are poor academic performance, and bullying is not even in the top five. Do you think there is no bullying in the West, africa or Southeast Asia? Did you know that 60% of Asian kids experience bullying in the West? Haven't you seen the news about Asian hate in the West? At least in Japan you don't get beaten up while walking on the street. Bullying is a common problem for children all over the world. It's not that there is more bullying in Japan than in other countries. You're only looking at information about Japan. Human habits and behavior are not very different. Your biased knowledge is already racism against Japanese. One of the reasons why there are fewer in the West is due to religious reasons. Because in the christianity suicide is considered a sin. That's why they force themselves to live even though they're depressed and suffering. Japan has a seppuku harakiri culture where it is considered an honor to bring down the curtain themselves. The West would be a great suicidal countries if it wasn't considered a sin by religion. This is because the number of addicts, depression and homeless people is far greater than in Japan.

Also, about the One O'clock: The name of the band came from the fact that they used to rent studio for rehearsals at 1am because it's cheaper (they were still high school students at the time). And so they chose to use that for their band name, however they added a twist. So you see, in the Japanese language there is no "L" sound, only R. So, one o'clock would be one o'crock (wanokurokku) and they just added a spin to its spelling => One Ok Rock. The band accepts both One Ok Rock (overseas) and One O'crock/wanokurokku (Japan, usually abbreviated to Wanoku) spellings. Hope that helps! 💓

Thank you for this great reaction! I loved seeing you get emotional during the song. I get the chills and tearful everytime. Especially after seeing the documentary of all those 18 year's old and their rehearsals. Mind you, they never rehearsed with the band, and this was their first time performing with them, hence why many were very emotional. Though, I'm so amazed at how they were able to stop themselves from jumping into stage with no barriers XD XD I also really really like Taka's speech at the end, it's very motivational and also during their performance of this song on Ambitions Japan Tour, he gives another great speech. This song is one of my top favs for all the deep meanings behind it. Thank you again! 🙏

(I can download that one too) Edit: I just checked and this Version is still UNBLOCKED everywhere Worldwide. Just so You know. @ノエルギャラガーになりたい
what you said about how they named their band is correct,I mean one ok rock is formed as four members and they would always go together for making and creating music at around 1 o'clock(one ok rock) and that's how they formed the band.
@-R.Gray-
@-R.Gray- 5 лет назад
OK, I'm only speculating about this. Do you remember in the interview how Hua Chenyu said he was going to release the set list for his concert a month in advance, to give the audience time to practice ? This explains how the Martians can sing along so well with him at his concerts. He wants them to, so they practice beforehand. I think the same thing was happening here, and I suspect from the title that this was an audience made up of 18 year olds. In Japan there is huge parental pressure to achieve academically, resulting in a very high suicide rate among those who don't measure up. I think this song is rebelling against this pressure, saying that no matter what they say, they can't take away the unique expression of the universe that we all are. This is more important than other peoples' expectations. "Standing on the edge"-(living in the present moment) "No ground beneath our feet" (beyond the ego, which is always grasping for false security) "We are, we are" (pure consciousness, beneath the personality, or spirit, which can't be touched by others' opinions.) The song is saying in other words, don't let them get you down. Just my guess.
