That beautiful woman just can't stop upstaging people with her addiction to talking about herself. She has no reason to yak ! Good Lord! The show-off chic needs to shut up. I wanted to watch Morgan James sing !! Is there anyone else irritated?
And there it is. After 9 comments about my commentary, instead of just clicking off my videos, you finally admit to your obsession. You're here for my looks. Cause if you actually want to watch Morgan James sing, there are plenty of full performances on RU-vid, yet you stay here complaining about something that won't change. You're here cause you enjoy watching me 😂🥰 cute.
"I wanted to watch Morgan James sing....that's why I clicked on a reaction and not on the original music video and now I have to complain that the reactor is giving us her opinion".......what?
Yeeeeeeeees!!! Her voice is like a hug😌 awww what a wonderful tone, sooo clean, dark, rich oooooh!!! I love the time she spends on words... so tiny but so POWERFUL!!!!🎶 This group (the ceeeello 🤯) and this arrangement is INCREDIBLE!!!!!🌟 Thanks Hege!!!!🙃😁
First time hearing Morgan and wow, what a singer! She's really good! I like the control she has in the part of the bridge where it goes "dream on, dream on, dream on....." 🎻🎻🎻🎻
Great reaction. Love PMJ and Morgan. Don't know how I never found your channel before. I see you also sang with Jennifer, who I adore. Can't believe you haven't reacted to any Home Free, the a Capella group. Jenn can tell you all about them. AMAZING singers.
It made me stutter and lose my words. So good! Thank you so much for the recommendation, I knew it would be great coming from you. And thanks for watching ☺️
@@HegeOfficial I just read your intro notes. Simply priceless. "You wanted me to react to Morgan James singing Dream On with Postmodern Jukebox. Turns out I wanted that too, I just didn't know. I thought I had heard all the great covers of this song, but there was one more. " Amen.. and PS... a tiny nudge in the direction of Stranger by Dimash. Just a tiny one...The same 2021 Festival as 'Ave Maria'.
Loved the reaction. Scott Bradley (the guy at the piano) is the genius behind Postmodern Jukebox. He does the arrangements. All of their stuff is amazing. Love to see a reaction to some a capella stuff like Home Free or Voiceplay. Home Free calls themselves a country vocal band but they can literally sing anything and Voiceplay has some amazing arrangements. Very theatrical. Both groups have amazing beatboxers and bass singers.
Great reaction, your excitement is infectious. Lol what a incredible version of this song, Morgan was amazing. All the belts and growl/grit were fantastic but I think my favorite part of the song was the last 15 seconds or so, after the last belt. It was very sexy, her voice and the music.. I’ll have to look up more of her music. Thanks!
Welcome to the Morgan James Fan Club! Now on to "All About that Bass" with Casey Abrams, Haley Reinhart, Morgan James & Ariana Savalas (Telly's daughter) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aLnZ1NQm2uk.html , "Maps" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8gO_lxThc1M.html and "I Really Don't Care" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EddjOiFcp9Y.html . Morgan and Haley cover "Dear Prudence" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wv_Xhzwvjyg.html is also a must! Then down the rabbit holes of Morgan and Haley's other tunes on-line. You will not be disappointed...
nice reaction hege.. morgan james is an amazing singer and performer and fits perfectly with the postmodern jukebox family. she is very different than my favorite haley reinhart but exceptional in her own way. she is opera trained from julliard. this performance is stunning and her best one. the string arrangement is also superb. the way the guy on the cello plucks it like a guitar after her first run is super cool (never seen that before). imho, the last belt "straight tone" was definitely intentional and likely done as homage to aerosmith and stephen tyler heritage... for a brief moment in an otherwise completely jazz vintage cover, we are unexpectedly but purposely reminded by ms james of it's more raw rock-n-roll roots... :)
OMG.. Thank you so so SOOO much for reacting to Morgan, she is effin amazing, a brilliant performer and storyteller.. NOW next up should be her and PMJ's cover of Hoziers Take me to Church.. ( she'll knock your socks off, even if you arent wearing any ) and or , all about that bass OR Dear prudence by Beatles, ft Haley reinhardt
I've watched a number of reviews of this number. Some good, some not so good. This one had some unique perspectives. One thing all the reviewers miss is commenting on Scott's beautiful arrangements. He also has a great knack of matching his arraignment with the performers,
Nice reaction dear Hege. I know Morgan James and I love her cover of Dream on with PMJ ... CRAZY good 🔥For information, you should listen to thé last Angelina Jordan cover "Suspicions minds" by Elvis. Her voice is now so full and mature and the arrangement is also very nice (piano and guitar). Have a nice day. Gilles from France 🇲🇫
Awesome reaction Hege! First time I've seen you get SO into your reaction that you're almost fighting for the right words! Loved all your tidbits of wisdom along the way too. I did notice the vowel change by the way ... I think you and Jennifer are really starting to teach me a few things. 😁 I haven't listened to a ton of PMJ, mostly Haley Reinhart covers but I really liked this one by Morgan. Oh, almost forgot ... 🎻😊
Yeah it really got me, hahah. Thank you so much ☺️🙏 I appreciate it, and I’m happy to hear that you find my ramblings useful ☺️. Thank you for the “mini cello” haha!
Very interesting analysis as usual. Morgan also does an excellent job on "I really don't care", "Barbie Girl" and a duet with Haley, "Dear Prudence" and a three part cover of "All about that bass" with PMJ, Haley and Ariana Savalas (the European tour).
Thank you, Randall :)!! She was amazing and I am looking forward to hear more of Morgan. The duet with Haley must be a whole masterclass in great vocals :)
🎻 Lovely reaction! This is one of my favorites and I thoroughly enjoyed your analysis and enthusiasm! I had made a request on an earlier reaction that you react to Floor Jansen whose voice is at least on a par with Morgan’s. Also, I’d love to hear your reaction to your fellow countrywoman Aurora who’s voice is quite unique as is her performance style. Looking forward to both! 😊. 🎶🎶🎻🎶🎶
Thank you ☺️ I’ve heard both singers before, but there are definitely a lot of performances I don’t know. I hope to get to it soon ☺️ Thank you so much for watching, and for your recommendations! 🙏
PMJ brought us Haley Reinhardt, Morgan James and many more wonderful vocalists.......Scott Bradlee, the pianist, does the arrangements and the band is top notch ! ......especially the cellist's solo !
For another amazing Morgan James cover where I feel her cover completely outshines an already great song is Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel. I love that video so much
Thanks for the informative reaction. It is always fun to see someone discover how talented Morgan James is and to explore PMJ's cool catalog. I think you might also enjoy checking out Morgan's cover of Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer", which is done in her preferred soul music style and is very good. For PMJ, I guess their version of "Seven Nation Army" with Haley again, or Megan Trainor's "All About That Bass" featuring Haley, Morgan, Ariana Savalas, and Casey James, both of which are quite good. Thanks again. I do enjoy your informed takes and how much you really enjoy the performances and look forward to more
@@HegeOfficial - How about a reaction to Audra McDonald telling a story in speech/singing? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-j5Z_BpYCLqU.html
I just found your channel, great stuff! So far you are hitting all my favorites! A great recommendations for you. This is a very different type of cover and it is amazing. The arrangement, vocals, background vocals, I just love everything about it. It was recorded live in 2010 at the - London Union Chapel Alice Russell - Crazy Enjoy!
Not “all” PMJ videos are “one take”, some are, but where that phraseology was attached to PMJ is mostly due to Haley Reinhart’s one take in creep. All PMJ videos, however, are recorded live
@@HegeOfficial but it's not true, 'normally' most PMJ videos were NOT recorded in one take. Off the top of my head I know Haley and Morgan have both been credited w/ one take recordings, but I haven't heard it been said about any other PMJ cover. Haley's one take is the one that has been promoted the most, Scott even made a video just to tell the story about it's one take on Creep
@@HegeOfficial I'm not saying it's 'non researched', I'm telling you the truth. Having watched a lot of reactions, specifically of Haley performances, I've noticed many fans play a game of 'telephone', that is, they hear something, then when they retell it, it's embellished, that gets passed around, and finally the end story sounds nothing like the original story. Too many people do this w/ the story of Creep, they say Haley was sick , or she refused to sing "Creep", that Scott had to talk her into it and she said ok just this once... All BS. Haley lives to sing, she would never turn down the chance to sing. The PMJ tour they recorded Creep on was her very first professional tour, she would never turn down that opportunity. Yet people embellish it. The truth is she took a red eye flight from the US to Berlin, went immediately to the venue to perform the one cover, Habits, she did for PMJ at that time, then they went on to play seven shows straight in different countries before their day off when they recorded Creep. Yes, she was tired from travel, but not sick, and she was never in position to demand anything. Scott has said she wanted to do one more take of Creep despite being tired, and Scott said that the one take was perfect. I made a video of that week journey from joining PMJ to recording Creep: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eVASTaIoTYw.html Anyways, I'm not saying you were wrong, just that PMJ fans seem to like embellishing things. As a singer yourself, you have to know how rare 'one take' recordings are, so on it's face, how possible is it that 'most' PMJ videos are one take? Very unlikely. Anyhow, I do enjoy your reaction, observation, I wasn't saying you were wrong, I am saying that some PMJ fans tend to exaggerate
@@HaleysTusk I get you, I was just pointing out how there was an implied disclaimer already in my video exactly because I don’t know and the info might be wrong :) I see the phenomenon you describe. I see it in fans of every singer, even those where it’s very obvious what’s live or not - for better or worse. And a lot of the time about details that don’t really matter. I feel like this only builds up this expectation of unattainably consistent perfection, and makes artists not want to sing live cause they fear the scrutiny if they dare sound “too organic”.
Please, please answer me this. I heard on more than a few occasions, Morgan coming in AFTER the beat to add a wonderful dynamic. Am I wrong? None of the reviewers have mentioned this.
It's a very common thing in several genres - especially in jazz an e.g. r&b and funk - for a singer/lead instrument to play around with the timing, yes.
I'm so glad you reacted to this. Morgan James is fantastic and I enjoyed your reaction to her. I have a few suggestions: Home Free's a capella cover of Folsom Prison Blues (Johny Cash's famous hit from 1958). There have been lots of reactions to some of their other songs (esp the amazing "Man of Constant Sorrow" - an old folk song from 1905. There haven't been many reactions to Folsom Prison Blues - and it is a wonderful song. Enjoy Also in the a capella category is an all women group called Citizen Queen singing Roberta Flack's song, "Killing me Softly with His Song" - a song about Don McKean and his hit, American Pie - itself about Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J.P. Richardson. By the way, Home Free and Don McLean collaborated in a version of American Pie. Enjoy and keep up the good work.
Excelente tu reaccion, saludos desde Costa Rica, pura vida !!! Morgan James , magistral. y tu me recordaste en un momento a la hermosa actriz Charlize Theron .
Another beautiful arrangement from Postmodern Jukebox with always a good singer. Otherwise there is also Angelina Jordan who has cover of King Elvis "Suspicious Minds" : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RTbKhkceR00.html A very nice tribute just before the release of the movie on Elvis. Angelina is breathtaking : bewitching and full of melancholy.
One of my favorites by Morgan is "When You're Gone," [The Cranberries] I think it's her husband on guitar, they did a bunch of covers during covid. Very tasty.
The Aretha covers she did during lockdown are spectacular too. Morgan is another one of those modern day singers who can do those throwback sounds like she was born to them. And, as a contrast to Haley on the PMJ covers, she's great bc Haley's got that higher, jazzy baby/gun moll/torch singer vibe and Morgan's got that beautiful, rich lower register happening. PMJ really brought some light to some stunning singers that many of us might never have heard of otherwise. Love the rabbit holes they opened up for me!
I really appreciate the way you explain what is going on...i can sing but i dont know how it happens. What are the chances of getting you to react to "Nutshell" by Alice in Chains...the unplugged live "Nutshell" from the mtv unplugged series is the one to get...Layne Staley and AIC were one of Grunge Musics biggest bands in the 90s, AIC also has a recording called Jar of Flies...not quite a record some said but we would practice absolute silence for the duration of the album...my friend was an AIC Freak. ok ok one for the road "Long Gone Day" is a song for the netflix and chill "smooth operator"...Sade Vibe and such.
Aw thank you for that! I really appreciate it :) Thank you so much for the recommendations! Alice in Chains is not in my usual genre I react to on here, but I am open to it :) And I do love some Sade vibes :D Have a great weekend!
Glad you enjoy this one... but with Postmodern Jukebox there's a lot more to see, try Don't Speak with Haley Reinhart or I Can't Feel Your Face with Casey Abrams (or Both) you can't lose with PMJ. Success!!
I don't know if you are aware that Morgan James is good friends with Haley Reinhart....they both do a number of PostModern Jukebox videos (as well as each have their own videos). So, if you haven't heard Haley's cover of "Creep" (Radiohead), you are in for the surprise of your life...IMO (and others) she's the best female vocalist on the Planet !!!!
If you’re interested in a. Fantastic performer I recommend checking out Aurora. Her live version of 1, 2, 3, 4 (murder Song) at the Nobel peace concert is transcendent
Yeah, ikr? I avoided Aurora for a while despite getting her in my YT recs a lot (some part of my brain thought she was going to be a discount version of Bjork) but finally listened to that performance of "1, 2, 3, 4" and... just wow. She's the real deal. I love how much she lives inside the world she's singing about, whatever song she's singing. It's so great when you discover an actual ARTIST artist rather than just some rando putting on a character for views/clicks/likes. Discoveries like that - and many of the vocalists I've found through PMJ - get me excited about music again whenever I've begun to get bored with it.
Haley's Creep was famously one take. I don't think that's automatically the PMJ default though. The videos certainly have a certain amount of audio post processing. Nothing excessive though.
Well done; I think Morgan James is one of the most talented female vocalists out there. She has a wealth of material out there worth reacting to. But, while I have your attention; how is it that you have not reacted to Norwegian singer Angelina Jordan? She is 16 now, but has been blowing up RU-vid since she made her first appearance on Norway's Got Talent performing Billie Holiday's "Gloomy Sunday" ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rI6ZhRk86Hs.html ). She has over 170 different songs out there, including originals. Here most recent release is Elvis's "Suspicious Minds" ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RTbKhkceR00.html ). Those are the bookends; everything in between is extraordinary.
You seen Morgan now it's time to react to Haley Reinhardt with postmodern jukebox cover of"creep". 106m views, 58 wks top of billboard jazz chart and critically acclaimed
"Morgan james" and " haley reinhart " are both excellent singers/ performers and I'm sure are decent people. I'm absolutely certain if they where aware of your behaviour towards ANGELINA JORDAN they would not want you as a fan , are you not ashamed of your trolling behaviour posting disrespectful, demeaning comments on every ANGELINA JORDAN reaction possible , your profile name has changed frequently it must be well into double figures. what is your motivation , I can only conclude that you see a 16 year old girl at the beginning of career as a threat to your favourite artists, you should be ashamed , yet you continue , imo your obsessive behaviour is not healthy for you, i would respectfully advise you to seek treatment for your obsessive behaviour.
Appears you and James Waddell have a disagreement? lol I see your point in this being in 6/8 when you listen to the instruments alone. Morgan on the other hand is singing the song as Steven Tyler did in Aerosmith which was in 4/4 time. One of the more confusing songs dealing with is it, 3/4, 4/4, 6/8, or 12/8 is the Animals classic cover 'House of the Rising Sun" i've seen Tabs which had any of the four mentioned time signatures. Seemed a little trivial and childish the back and forth of who's right or wrong. I'll say you both are correct!! :) Also the 2 songs he left, for you to tell which time signatures, Thorazine Shuffle by G'ovt Mule is 3 bars of 5/4 and 1 bar of 7/4 . The Blue Rondo Turk is 9/8 time, then does the very cool switch from 4/4 to 9/8 alternating a bar of each, then during the sax solo its all 4/4
Thanks for being level headed about it. The back and forth is unnecessary indeed, but the thing is I never said he was wrong. I just explained why I disagreed that it exclusively has a 4/4 feel - because he was saying I was wrong, which I am technically not. Seemed pretty clear to me. My whole point was that it can be written as both (I even checked and there are score versions online of this arrangement in 6/8), and that in the video I specifically said the feel of it, not that that’s how the arrangement was scored (as I’ve explained to James in the past I go in blind without knowing anything about the arrangement, so I generally don’t make hard claims). But when people start shouting (using caps lock), assuming things and calling me confused, I reply in the same fashion and block ☺️. I didn’t know the comments were still even visible, so I don’t see whatever links he’s left.
And thanks for the cheat sheet btw ☺️ haha. My ex (pianist) played Blue rondo a la Turk when we studied jazz tho, and it’s the type of piece we’d have to analyze in class. But I appreciate you wanting to show me and help out ☺️ But I can’t see his comment anymore so I can’t reply, and he’s not my professor so don’t really feel like I need his approval of my knowledge 😅
Hey pretty person, while scolling your video history i bounced in on "Crazy" and "Chandelier " and discovered You are very Good : ) Something tells me you Already know about Angelina Jordan. "Put a spell on you "
Aw thank you so much ☺️ Yes, I do, I watched her first audition on TV back in Norway, but there are a lot of performances I haven’t watched so I’m going to do a reaction soon ☺️
Hi, new sub here! Can you please react to Gigi De Lana’s live performance cover of Dianne Reeves’ “Better Days”? (Official channel is: Gigi De Lana and the Gigi Vibes) It’s a pleasant surprise! Probably one of the best covers of this song, imo. The performance is actually taken from a 2 hour livestream where they take song requests from viewers. It’s received a lot of international reactions based on her tone and vocal abilities, but I would like your take on it. She’s a rising star in the Philippines (singer, actress, model) but her passion is music and her RU-vid channel has blown up in the last year. Her other covers/songs have also had millions of views, but I think this particular performance is worth watching. Please check her out and let us know what you think. Thanks! Let me know if you need the link. 😊
Hi, I'm a new subscriber on your channel. I'd like to recommend you, don't speak about postmodern Juke box or love fool, in addition to the Mexican rock band The Warning, I hope you can bring it to your channel.
For months you’ve been coming back to several of my videos only to leave hate, and complain about the format, as if you have no choice but to click my videos. Don’t you have better things to do?
Ah, you’re back. Kind of silly of you to keep coming back to my videos when you know they are analysis videos and that I will stop. So disrespectfully: shut up, Susie.
You’ve been leaving your hate here on and off for months 😂😂😂 how hard is it to just avoid the content that’s not for you? I find it easy, but I guess trolls just have to.
Lol f off loser! 😂 You commented about my tattoos 9 months ago and were just as nasty then, so why are you back watching? Obsessed with me much? Funny how your IG profile says "Love god and people", yet you're herr spreading hate to people like me. Kinda hypocritical there, Susie. Just leave and go be your wonderful self somewhere else ❤️
Btw I obsessed right back for a moment. I loved the part of your self righteous poem that said "Love is my only wealth" 😂 Soooo not very wealthy then, I reckon. Also wonder what Jesus would think about the kind of love you spread in these comments, Susie. A bit disappointed, I'd think. And your take on vaccines was priceless 😂 enjoyed the laugh. Thank you!
What is your point in even asking? If it’s not for you, don’t get one. Also, not everyone believes in God. You do you, and let others decide for themselves. Bye.
