Review of the "Sittin' on a Backyard Fence" from 1933's Footlight Parade, with postscript about I actually liked the Cats movie. (Yes, I might be the only one.) This is one cute musical number. The movie includes a TON of stars (see below) but I believe this is Ruby Keeler and Dick Powell.
Footlight Parade (en.m.wikipedia...) came out in1933 and is a American pre-Code musical film, meaning it includes some racier elements that were clamped down following implementation of the Hayes Code. Everything is staged and choreographed by Busby Berkeley, so you know it's food. It starred James Cagney, Joan Blondell, Ruby Keeler and Dick Powell, with featured appearances by Frank McHugh, Guy Kibbee, Hugh Herbert, and Ruth Donnelly.
