What you witnessed there was a man he swappes guitars whilst playing,then had to set the new one up during a solo before proceeding to play most of the song behind his back. He then gave speech against apartheid in South Africa.Then he lost a tooth and if you hadnt been looking you would never have known! Stevie Ray was an absolute legend! Oh and he was from Texas!

Just some background info: he took his guitars to "Charlie's Guitar Shop" in Dallas to be service. Stevie is from the Dallas area. Anyway, he & Charlie became good friends. Charlie gifted him that white guitar. (Yes, they switched guitars.)He typically plays this song on the white guitar, he named it after Charlie . Charlie died unexpectedly after giving Stevie this guitar, so Stevie wrote this song in honor of Charlie. Stevie & his guitars were inseperable. He wore them around his house, played in the car. His ex wife said he would play in his sleep. He's talking about Apartheid. Stevie was the sweetest guy. He paid off a house for a friend's auntie because she was about to be evicted, bought ice cream for his neighborhood kids when the ice cream truck came around. Watch what happens at the 9:00 mark. Playing with his teeth, he pulls one out. He looks to his guitar tech and says, "Lost a tooth!" then says, "It's gone!" If you want to know anything about the guy, let me know, I know his history, frontwards and backwards. I live in Dallas, know where he's lived here. Visit his grave regularly and bring flowers to show respect. We still love him even though he's been gone over 30 years. I've got quite a few songs to recommend, if you'd like...

Great reaction! When you said "I officially love Stevie Ray Vaughan" I knew you were hooked. We who love Stevie will love him forever, and pass on his legacy to our children and Grandchildren plus many more. Each Reaction video helps also. Yes he was a beast on guitar like no other. Had to lol when you said he looked so cool, that's for sure. The hat, the vest, boots and his treasured Squash blossom turquoise necklace. I believe his beloved brother, Jimmie Lee Vaughan found it at the crash site. Not certain because that is second hand info. Can anyone verify that? He wore it often. Stevie always looked great no matter what the look, he exuded swag, coolness and confidence without arrogance. Even his voice said who he was, a true Texan, a favorite son. I also know nothing of guitars but that tone and sound had me hooked at first listen. There's times when nothin but SRV's music can pull me through, a day doesn't pass without his magic. You mentioned that you may not like everything by him, but the more you hear from him, well you'll get it. You're gonna be amazed by this man, he was not 'just another' young performer. 🙌👏🎊🎉🎶🎸❣️Yeah‼️for Stevie Ray🎸. He is my all time favorite artist and even though we only had him a few short years, his music stays fresh and always awesome because he was the guitar and completely consumed by music his whole short life. Self taught from age 7, never learned to read music as he was just remembering what his soul already knew. He changed guitars in the beginning as it wasn't in tune and that switch was flawless. He didn't drop a pick, but had to adjust his foot pedals to the different guitar and why he had to adjust the amps as well to get that "sustain" he used later when he held that long note. There isn't a human emotion that Stevie can't evoke with his playing. He and his guitar meshed and melded together from the get becoming one in the same. I found you and subscribed because of Home Free but I strongly encourage you to keep going down this 🐇🐇🐇🐇 hole🎸🎶‼️. He will amaze and delight each time. 99% of all his work does not require a filter. Only occasionally does Texas Flood and Little Wing from the El Macambo ever get blocked but not every time. He never plays the same song the same way as he is always in the moment so each rendition is different. No chance of getting bored here‼️ Thank you so much for this today💯👏👋🪅

I'm sure another song others will reference as an absolute must for your reaction is "Texas Flood" at the El Mocambo, 1983. I agree, but don't stop there. There are so many sides to this man and his magic. Some say exploring the work of a legendary artist is like a deep dive down a rabbit hole, but with Stevie Ray Vaughan, expect to go UP! Stevie is one down-to-earth artist who will take you to heavenly realms... so welcome to your SRV cloud! Stevie is just about the most humble, charismatic, authentic, passionate, uplifting soul who has touched my life with his character and his music. I so admire his respect and caring for others, and am so grateful for his God-given musical gifts that have allowed him to develop his effortless, natural style. I am amazed at the incredible love and diligence he's put into his craft; and am besotted by his spiritual connection to his instrument and the music. He is truly a channel. And he is like a tuning fork to his rapt audiences, who, watching him on stage, hearing him play and sing, feel his spirit and vibrate to his being amidst the music. I especially love his wonderfully expressive voice and his ability to make his vocals match the voice of his guitar. Watching his live performances is the way to go... giving you a much more expansive and moving experience. It gives you that much more appreciation than just for his insane skills and being treated to his showmanship and his signature improvisational flow. Then there are all the performances with amazing artists like Johnny Copeland ("Tin Pan Alley" you must listen to), Jeff Beck ("Going Down Slow"), Lonny Mack ("Wham" and "Oreo Cookie Blues"), Albert King ("Born Under A Bad Sign"), Stevie Wonder and friends ("Superstition"), his brother Jimmy Vaughan ("Pipeline"), and others. I also want to correct something you misunderstood. When SRV bent down that time you thought he dropped his pick, he wasn't retrieving a pick. Stevie Ray knew the sound he wanted and his sensitive ear always caught when something wasn't just right. You noticed him tuning his guitar at certain points and fiddling with the amps till he was satisfied. Well, when he bent down, he was adjusting the wah wah pedal at his feet. A couple extra picks are usually handily stored at the top of the mic stand. Should a guitarist drop the one he or she is using... a pick is right at hand. Glad you are discovering Stevie Ray. We happily share his heart and his music with you, and the encouraging story of his triumph over addictions. Though we regret that a tragic helicopter crash in 1990 took his life, cutting the world off from SRV at an age and point in his career when he was proving his even greater potential as a guitarist, as a music producer, and as a man, we should not continue in sadness. As he was making himself known, bringing amazing music to us, he was (and still is) helping others overcome and find healing for their lives. The legacy he leaves us should not be lost, for it is a legacy that shines in both his music and his example. So watch. Listen. Be uplifted with everything Stevie gives, because he gives his all. Stevie Ray is the Guitar.

When an electric guitar is moved in front of and around amplifiers, the feedback created, and the sound waves that cross each other, cause new sounds. The vibrations lengthen and putting the guitar at different angles changes the interaction of the sound waves too. He also adjusts the knobs on the front of the guitar for treble and bass and volume and also uses the whammy bar to pull up and bend all the strings at once -- all of which creates unique sounds and he never played anything the same way twice. I saw him live in 1983 in Denver, about 6 rows back in a small venue, and we could feel the notes go right through us -- everyone jumped to their feet on the first note and didn't sit down the whole time.

I was at Stevie Ray Vaughn's last concert the night his helicopter crashed after the show at Alpine Valley Wisconsin August 26th 1990. The fog was so bad after the concert that we stopped and got a hotel room on the way home. The lineup was SRV, Eric Clapton, Robert Cray, Stevie's brother Jimmie and Buddy Guy. He actually lost a tooth when he played with his teeth. You can see him look off stage and and say "I lost a tooth, it's gone" RIP SRV!

If you like this video of his music you're in for a treat You've only scratched the surface. This is my favorite performance of his. He did change guitars at the start of the video, he couldn't get the one he was using tuned right so he called for the backup. I'm sure you'll watch this video again pay close attention after he plays with his teeth you can see him mouthing to someone offstage that he lost his tooth. (But yet he kept on playing). I'm sure you'll get more recommendations so I'll spare you for now😂.

Texas Flood Live at the El Macombo is a must watch. Willie the Wimp, Mary Had a Little Lamb. Miserlou and Pipeline with Dick Dale (King of Surf Guitars) simply outstanding. Live by the Drop is my personal favorite, released after his death so no official video. Also killer duets with Albert King, BB King , Jeff Healey and with his brother Jimmy Vaughn (of the Fabulous Thunderbirds) are all worth a deep dive. Oh and for 18+ minutes of musical greatness? Watch his Sound check. Anyone else does that & they're shouting "the best show in my life!" SRV? He was just warming up..........

Stevie Ray Vaughan was born in Dallas Texas on October 3,1954, Stevie Ray has a brother who is 3 years older than Stevie Ray named Jimmie Vaughan and he is an amazing guitarist In his own right and had a band called The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Jimmie got an electric guitar at the of 10, Stevie Ray loved it and would play it whenever Jimmie left the house so at the age of 7 Stevie Ray was given a toy guitar for his birthday with cowboys and Indians on it and even with a toy guitar Stevie Ray learned to play Wine, Wine, Wine and Thunderbird by The Night Caps (on a toy). When Stevie Ray heard a Muddy Watters record he said he was hooked and wanted to play the Blues. When Stevie Ray got his first gig at a roller rink in 1964 Jimmie gave Stevie Ray his electric guitar, Jimmie had carved Jimbo on the back, Stevie Ray used that guitar right up to his death. Stevie Ray and the basses for Double Trouble Tommy Shannon joined a band called Krackerjack, they went to school together and that was the roller rink gig. Stevie Ray's career only span 7 years starting with his album Texas Flood that was released on June 13,1983 when John Hammond signed Stevie Ray and Double Trouble to a record deal with Epic records, within months they achieved main stream success and became the leading figure in the Blues in June 1983 and throughout the 80's. In that 7 yrs Stevie Ray accompanied so much, on December 13,1983 Austin City Limits video was voted Guitar Player Magazine's Best New Talent, Best Electric Blues Guitar Player and Best Guitar Album with his album Texas Flood, Stevie Ray is only the 2nd guitarist along with Jeff Beck as the only Triple Award Guitarist. On November 18, 1984 Stevie Ray won a W.C.Handy National Blues Award, Entertainer Of The Year and Instermentalist Of The Year, he was the first white person to win either. In 1982 he was the first musician to be inducted into The Austin Music Hall Of Fame, 2000 he was inducted into The Blues Hall Of Fame and in 2015 he was inducted into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. This song Life Without You Stevie Ray wrote it for his good friend and mentor Charlie Wirz who died of a heart attack in 1985. Charlie owed Charlie's Guitar Shop in Dallas Texas that opened in 1976. Charlie and Stevie Ray's guitar tech Rene Martinez made the White guitar in 1983 for Stevie Ray it has a ho-la girl on the back, the heel plate says "To Stevie Ray Vaughan more in 84' Stevie Ray is playing that white guitar in this video, I know alot of people think Stevie Ray dropped his pick but he's actually adjusting his Wah-Wah pedal on the floor next to the microphone, the wah-pedal makes that Wah-Wah sound coming from his guitar. Stevie Ray can play his guitar so many ways, behind his head, backwards, tune his guitar while playing, one hand, broken string, switch guitar in the middle of a solo and never missed a beat, he did it in the beginning of this song and it's hard to catch, you can see he plays with no hands just by moving the guitar up and down side to side, tune his guitar while playing, adjust his AMP'S while playing one handed, even using his elbow at times. Stevie Ray said because he never learned to read music he always played from the heart, he never used a play list because he said he didn't know what he was going to play or how until he got on stage. That just goes to show you how amazing Double Trouble was keeping up with Stevie Ray and never missing a beat. Chris Layton joined Double Trouble on September 10,1978 on drums, Tommy Shannon joined Double Trouble on June 23,1981 on bass and Reese Wynans joined Double Trouble on June 7,1985 on keys. Stevie Ray can also play drums and Saxophone. On August 26, 1990 Stevie Ray along with Robert Clay, Buddy Guy and his brother Jimmie Vaughan went to East Troy Wisconsin to open 2 shows for Eric Clapton at The Alpine Valley Music Theater, both shows sold out 40,000 seats each night. When Eric Clapton finish his last song on August 27th Stevie Ray, Buddy Guy, Robert Clay and Jimmie Vaughan went to stage with Eric Clapton said performed Sweet Home Chicago by Robert Johnson, that would be the last song Stevie Ray would ever play.Stevie Ray boarded a helicopter that crashed into the side of a mountain right after takeoff and everyone on board were killed instantly, the pilot had just failed his test on using the gages for that helicopter, he never flew that helicopter and he never flew at night. It was so sad, imo STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN WILL ALWAYS BE THE GOAT. I'm sorry I didn't mean to write such a long comment but I thought you would want to know some things about him.

Well now I love you, too! I was blessed to have spent prettiness with Stevie from around 1987 to his passing in Aug of 1990. I can tell you he was as kind and humble as he was talented. He got clean and sober in 1986 after a lifetime of struggle. His new lease on life was captured in his final album with his band, Double Trouble called “In Step.” There are so many performances to delight and amaze you, but I’d like to recommend a deep Blues number (Blues was his love) that he performs with Double Trouble and another Texas Bluesman, Johnny Copeland. Stevie switched guitars due to a broken string. He frequently did this due to the intensity with which he played. His string bends were insane, even though he played 14 gauge guitar strings. They were like cables!

Usually when Stevie Ray Vaughn switched guitars is when he breaks a string in his guitar. So in the middle a song he switched guitars and the show goes on.😁👍

This amazing performance makes me sad as a long time SRV fan, I think about him as life without you. A few things, the first guitar (the red one) was going out of tune, so he swapped it for the white one. He did not drop his pick, he adjusted a pedal. When you play a lot of guitar you get to a point where all you think about is the produced sound, so adjusting amps, or even where you put your fingers or how to strum is NOT thought about it is just about the sound. I had small glimpses of that music Zen, he lived in that state. Lastly, yes, he played with his teeth but you will notice he broke a tooth while doing it and just carried on.

His last name is spelled Vaughan, should make it easier to find more from him.
