There have been 2 occasions when I was sent (a) a chocolate bar and (b) a slice of wedding cake for a wedding I was unable to attend and on both occasions I only got the item months later, the envelope partially destroyed, re-addressed inside another more robust packet like a bubblewrap bag, the item itself being in a small snap-top clear polythene bag and reduced to an unidentifiable brown dust.

Max Faulkner is the stuntman/actor you recognise. He is in a number of stories - Jon Pertwee’s final two outings, Genesis, Android Invasion ( Corporal Adams) Sun Makers and Invasion of Time (as Nesbin).

Some profound commentary on Ferrero Rocher, there. I agree with Paul that the shot of the Ambassador framed against the sun is fabulously eerie - I don't think Michael Ferguson gets enough credit for the quality of his location work on this story. You probably missed it, as it's very brief, but when Taltalian picks up Liz he doesn't have an accent, as this was the first scene the actor filmed and he hadn' developed it yet. This episode was broadcast on the day Apollo 13 launched, which gave the remainder of the story an uncomfortably high level of topicality at the time...

4:55 Yep same guy as Android Invasion 8:45 Similar to the Ice Warrior in Seeds of Death. Same Director, Michael Ferguson.

Not only has there not been much Death yet, but the Ambassadors haven't really done anything ambassadorial (apparently that's a word) either. This story is truly living up to its name!

When the Ambassadors touch anyone or anything the effect looks more like high voltage electricity than radiation IMHO. See similar scenes in the film 'The Projected Man' and 'The Avengers' episode 'The Positive Negative Man'

Re the Ferrero Rocher posting conundrum: I would imagine a padded envelope such as a Jiffy Bag would do the job. On the episode itself, yes that is Max Faulkner of The Android Invasion fame. Also, the stuntman hanging off the weir, Derek Martin, will appear a few more times in the show, most notably in Image of the Fendahl. Later on, of course, he would become widely known as Charlie Slater in EastEnders - adopted father of Zoe Slater whose actress, Michelle Ryan, played Lady Christine de Souza in Planet of the Dead.

I love your comments about the optimism of a slightly futuristic present day. That was very much the spirit of the time. Recall, this is 1970. We watched space and moon shots all the time. The enthusiasm for science and the future was unparalleled. Good times.

I do find it interesting that in modern films/tv our depiction of the future is much more dystopian. It’s interesting to see how the view has shifted.

to balance that out there were other films more pessimistic of course, ie Planet of the Apes (1968), THX1138 (1971), No Blade of Grass (1970) etc.

4:36 Oh dear oh dear😭. I can see Doc Troughton trying that one on Jamie. Yay great to see Cyril Shaps again, lovely actor playing Lennox here, giving us a generous reprise of nervous shifty dude from “Tomb of The Cybermen” although he adds a good dash of sympathy this time. He has a standout moment to come in this story, which if you don’t flag I most certainly will.

Max Faulkner is the electrocuted soldier and yes, he was in The Android Invasion (I don’t think that’s a megaspoiler?) as well as other stories, being a stunt artist who was an actor.

Is Thomas wearing a top from The Space Pirates? That neck line looks kinda similar but I can't see any emblems sticking up from the collar into his neck. Did he remove them? Liz remains resourceful - escaping as quickly as it took the villains to capture her. Paul wants driving gloves and a cloak. Two episodes ago Thomas was taken with the masks the baddies were wearing. It's like an episode of Mr Benn with you both wanting to dress up! Yes it is the soldier from The Android Invasion! (Spoilers) Someone buy Thomas a notebook - in blue, vaguely TARDIS shaped!

You might have to change the title of the channel to the Dad Jokes Proclamation or The Shallow Dad Jokes. Keep them coming. When I was catching up on old Dr Who, this was one of the first I watched. I wasn’t looking forward to it but I really liked it. Had clear memories of watching Spearhead in 1970 but nothing else from this season. 1971 onwards I have memories of all the stories.
