David Bendeth has performer credits on every ERROR song (save Breathe) too & DPA were in the studio with him everyday for 3 months. Seems that’s just how the donuts are made.

Pau says writing simple song that say what they need to say is so freaking hard. There is a quote that variations of it are attributed to everyone from Rene Pascal to Mark Twain. I am sorry I wrote such a long letter. I didn't have time to write a short one.

They talked about running into the fixed/movable Do conflict at Berklee. Puremix did a mixing contest for the song "Money" with David Bendeth and Rick Beato. It's too long and technical for a reaction but there is a pretty good chunk of it where Dany pops in and she talks about her involvement in the mixing of the Error album. I'm assuming she was just as involved for this one.

The girls talked about those differences in learning music from culture to culture when they attended Berklee College of Music when they younger. Moveable Do solfege was brought up specifically because it was a bit confusing for them. The interview where they spoke about this was in Canada with Communal creative Studios: Ep. 79 | The Road The Stage - The Warning on RU-vid. That's a worthwhile interview from November 2022 during their fall/winter tour with 3 Days Grace.

Re: movable "do". When they were at Berklee College of Music in Boston they were first exposed to the American concept. They mentioned that they weren't the only students from other countries who complained about that. I'm sure they grew accustomed to it after a while. They spent several weeks there.

Thanks so much Glenn for continuing to feature these wonderful talented and 'real' young ladies on the channel...there is never enough of these Ladies regardless of whether it is music or interview or BTS, Vlogs, whatever it may be...they are so interesting in every aspect...appreciate them so much and you as well for continuing the journey...no doubt you are a fan. 3 very remarkable young ladies for sure that have so much love and respect for each other and their wonderful family that this bond will never ever change no matter what. What they have in an Industry that does not really create this kind of bond amongst different artists (Rarely) will never be broken with these Sisters, they were raised by parents that instilled this wonderful love and connection amongst them and it shall endure for ever...MHO. Pau made a point that stuck with me...many of their so called fans called them out on writing "simple" lyrics on the new Album...she pretty much said it all, "It is really hard to write "simple" lyrics with a meaning"...Thank you Pau for explaining that to the "fans" (hung up on their earlier songs) that critiqued the writing on this great Album. Sorry, that BS pissed me off when I read it on their "fan" FB pages.... Cheers. Sorry again Glenn, got carried away again. Will likely not be read due to the length of this diatribe and that is OK. And I too am absolutely with Ale on the Thunderstorm sleeping therapy.... 🥰🥰😎😎

Emerson, Lake, and Palmer used to travel on different buses and planes, would work on the music separately, and then get together only to hash out and record the album. Near the end of their touring career they said they didn’t hate each other, but things worked better when they didn’t see too much of each other. They seemed to be a band of pure talent with little else in common. I personally couldn’t work that way, I can play with anyone, but I’m at my best when we connect mentally.

re: the "do re mi" conversation... when i first saw that video the girls put out where they (Pau?) talked about their confusion with it, i thought they were saying they had not heard of "do re mi"... i've never heard of "movable" and "not movable" but i also have not done any music study in ~50 years... for me, i learned "do re mi" via the well known song in _"Sound of Music"_ ... then later we learned that Dany loves the _"Sound of Music"_ movie and watches it every year... it was kind of funny correlating those two things together... it makes me wonder if/when 2+2 were put together about "do re mi" 😹 TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA

Hello there Glenn! In Mexico “Do” is always “C”, and since we use fixed Do, it doesn’t matter what key the music is, Do will always be C. For example, if a song is in the key of D, we will call the root “Re”(D) while there will always be a “Do sostenido” (C#) in the scale.

Would you all please stop throwing shade on Anton Delost? I dont't agree with all the production choices that were made, but there is a lengthy comment available (don't have the link right now) by Anton himself, that all those choices were made by the sisters *themselves* . If anything, they would have liked to use even more effects. He did *not* push his ideas on DPA, he has tried to do what *they* wanted him to do. That he is known for a certain style and sound, is the reason they decided to work with him. Edit: I wrote "you all", but in hindsight, at the moment of writing my comment, there weren't all that many of those comments, yet. However, there are plenty of those on almost every video where KMF is discussed, and they start to annoy me. As you were...
@scottinokc
@scottinokc 3 месяца назад
I don't understand the Anton hate at all. I always use the Rush example, if Rush never changed their sound/style from the first album, they wouldn't have had the 40+ year career they had. The guys were never afraid to experiment with their music, even if it meant they lost some fans along the way. They made the music THEY wanted. I see that with The Warning. Is KMF different from QotMS or Error? Of course, but that doesn't mean it's bad, just different. Just my $0.02

I don't get all the hate towards him either, so what if you don't like how a song sounds. even my favorites bands have songs that I can't stand, but I still like the bands and don't go bashing producers for having an idea. sure he may have given them ideas and stuff, but in the end it was still their choice weather or not to use certain ideas. over all I think this new album is a banger. I've almost wore my cd out playing it so much. also almost blown out my windows more than a few times as well.

@MarkJacob-x7h 2 месяца назад
Maybe I'm the one overthinking, but based on TW's past as far as depth of lyrics and metaphors and explorations into the twists and turns of psychology, I can't be the only one who thinks that the meaning behind Automatic Sun is about more than just the responses they've given that it's about being attracted or drawn to someone irresistably. I know they said they tried to keep things simple on this album, and that they have always said they want their music to be interpreted and relatable in a way that fits the individual listener, so I suppose they could just intend for psychomatic to mean "not otherwise explainable", but it seems like that is the "light" or "simple" explanation and as often seems to be the case with the lyrics they use they often seem to write them to be interpretable on multiple but parallel levels and/or adjusted to the listener's internal narrative. But at least to me, it sounds like there is also a deeper darker level (and more literally fitting the definition of psychosomatic) of a relationship that is unhealthy going both ways, but which the protagonist cannot give up even though they know they should (insert metaphors re: irrestistable gravitional forces and inevitable unavoidable fate of burning up in a giant fireball here). Agree/disagree? Sound or style wise, from the beginning it has always been clear that they want to experiment with and learn to do as many things as they can, so it is no surprise that at some point they would do some stuff that is a bit closer to "mainstream" and play with more electronics and effects. ANd they are pretty intelligent, so they probably realize that this is a great time on many fronts for them to try out that direction to grow the fan base, especially the younger fan base - part way into a 5-album contract, fanbase growth on a good trajectory, selling out as a headliner on tours= a great time to do some more radio-friendly pop/rock anthems that sooner or later they were probably going to want to have fun with anyway. I don't love the studio version of HYCAD, too "thin" and electronic for my taste but obviously they like music that is more in that vein so it's no surpise they would try out that sound- and the live versions with the bass line all over the place carrying the whole song, and the powerful chorus and harmonic backing vocals and that keyboard hook sound make it sound like a 1980s hard rock anthem so yeah, I like the song as they play it live quite a bit! (and even most of their older stuff sounds better live than studio- which seems typical of recent music (provided it can actually be played live in the first place), but is also a sign of a band that is both a master of their craft and also continually improving and adding those improvements to their live shows. Likewise the co-writing and different production, they tried it and now we'll see what they do next time. Overall I liked more of the material on the previous albums, but live the new songs are still hard and heavy, Ale has some pretty cool bass parts and some new tone (i.e. pick playing right at the bridge) and also a little more prominence vocally than in the past, and Dani has developed (or at least is using, maybe not actually "new") a smoother tone for some of the new songs (which to me sounds a little more generic post-90s pop rather than her previous undeniably-Dani styles of delivery, but another skill is another skill!)- and the older songs and some new ones still see Ale playing with her fingers and Dani taking the same vocal approach as previously so I'm not too concerned that the new sound and different approaches mean anything beyond what they are. Personally I hope they don't continue too far in this same direction on future albums and take what they've learned from the co-writing experience as growing skills and/or options that they can choose to use where they feel it fits. I appreciate that all along they have been trying new ideas and changing things up across genres and approaches and that to continue with their dream project long term there does need to be some strategy involved as well, so as long as they contimue evolving (no pun intended) and don't entirely leave things they've done in the past behind and maintain the fierce guardianship of their ongoing project all is well. No band with a long career and continous exploration in numerous directions is going to make all of their fans totally happy with every song or album they do. The analogies made elsewhere re: Rush etc. are spot on as long as TW can keep the creativity and passion going and not get "stuck".

Yea, there needs to be a balance between recording and touring. The KMF album is, to me, a B+, A-, which is good, but not great as the previous albums were! Another problem I see, since Pau mentioned top lining, how much are you giving away by handing over so much of the creative process to others? Do you tour and make money? Margins can get quite slim. Do You write and record and make money? What pays more? Does it make sense to turn over the creative process to another because of time constraints, where you may like what was done.......but do you, and your fans, actually Love it? Automatic Sun, and for me, the Live, is the BEST song on the Album, and I struggle because HYCAD is neck and neck! French Band? sounds like impactes, but I can't find it! Thanks for this!

It's a good album, @78Mustang if the goal is to gain new fans who are more accustomed to the pop-dominated sector of the industry, since many of the resources and style that Anton uses in the album are widely used there, gaining shine, but losing depth. I will gladly watch the videos where they perform the songs, because the Villarreal sisters are very good on stage, but it is not an album that I find attractive to listen to.
