Hello and welcome to this weird crevasse of the internet where we get really excited about music (particularly Taylor Swift) and break down our favourite albums and songs. Our names are Bonny and Emily, and our aim with these videos is to share our love for music and also share context and understanding around the songs, by highlighting breaking down the lyrics, melodies and production. My theory is Taylor is willing to release tracks from 1989 early because there are going to be soooo many vault tracks from 1989 and the 2 so far are used in movies. She just want to be able to give permission to use the song. But I still think speak now is next…. But who knows at this point. This waiting game feels like a heavenly torture

I do agree and understand! It’s sooo iconic that she’s at a stage in her life where she feels like she can do whatever she wants and it doesn’t matter and I love that for her!! I think we can’t help but raise the question though when the break between red and the next announcement has already been longer than anyone anticipated. Which is fine, but between Fearless TV release and Red TV announcement was only a couple of months, and obviously she wants to own her songs, so I think we all thought it would just be sooner than this! So it’s surprising when she has these songs ready but is not releasing the album just yet :)

I also feel like both Wildest Dreams TV released because of we heard it on Spirit Untamed promo, then several months later the original version blew out on tiktok and This Love TV released following the promo of The Summer I Turned Pretty.

1989 was Taylor’s most popular era, to the point where she said she was worried about overexposure and left 3 years between albums instead of 2. For that reason I don’t think she will do the publicity circuit as much as Red, because she was trying to give ATW its moment in the spotlight after being a hidden fan favourite for years.

True, although the drama between her and Kim/Kanye was also a big reason for 3 years between 1989 and reputation as she went into hiding for a year and thus probably scrapped any possible album releases :)

I have a weird feeling that there are sooooo many vault tracks for 1989 that it’ll almost be like a new album?? So maybe she is more excited for us to hear those than the re-records of the existing tracks and therefore feels ok drip dropping those songs. It still feels a bit weird but I think we’ll all be pleased in the end

my theory is that she released wildest dreams, and this love, since she even mentions in one of the lyrics of this love "in silent screams, in wildest dreams". So maybe they are complementary songs. Maybe its a nod for us fans that, yes, 1989 Taylors Version is coming!

Guys is it just me or is the new version giving wedding vibes!? It's very romantic and emotional it feels like something you'd have your first dance to at your wedding!! Is this an Easter egg?! Because out of all of the songs on 1989 why this love?! But the new version is amazing and one of my favourite songs off the album so I am so excited!!!!! 💕✨ Oh and when that photo was released, the one that looks like the cover of this love, When I first saw that post I knew it meant something to do with 1989, also if you look at the trees they look like the ones in the blank space music video!! Ahhh I'm so excited for the rest of the re-records and I can't get over the fact that 1989 and reputation are gonna have vault tracks!! Something I also noticed with all the rerecordings is her diction and pronunciation is so much better. All the older versions it was clear that before Rep her country twang snuck in and made her mumble sometimes but on song like state of grace she makes every word perfectly clear.

I think maybe we'll get both Speak Now and 1989 this summer but not on the same day. 1989 is just a very summery album so it makes sense to drop it in the summer. July 9th has kind of been a thing to celebrate for years, so maybe that could be a potential date for Speak Now. Idk, it'd be cool to get something special for July 9th. Either way, I think we'll get both soon. It doesn't make sense for her to drop merch for 2 albums and call it "the old Taylor" collection, cuz "The Old Taylor" encompasses more than just those two albums, so it has to be intentional for her to only do merch for those 2 albums.

Has anyone else noticed that This Love now sounds like a metaphor for her losing and regaining ownership of her music? I think it has a second meaning now, ‘this love’ being her love for her old albums. She had to let it go free against her will, but she found a way for it come back to her.

My boyfriend (who's not a swiftie but likes her songs) and I was comparing This Love TV and the original This Love in the car the other day and he told me he preferred the re-recording more than the original one because he felt like her voice on the re-recording was more "whimsical" and almost feels "ethereal". Look at my boyfriend using boujie words like that! But I feel like it's true though. Because in the original song, her voice was so crisp (if that makes any sense) as compared to the re-record. I mean there's nothing wrong with that (OFC) but the bouncing back and forth of the different instruments and her voice was really spot on in the re-record that it literally gives me goosebumps whenever I listen to it!

A lot of people are talking about the old trademarks on the merch as evidence for her getting her masters back but her management registered and owns the trademarks, not big machine. So she could have used them for fearless tv and red tv, she chose not to for whatever reason.

To keep her copyrights she actually needs to use them actively so that's probably why she does older merch drops without the (Taylors Version) - or she would lose the copyright in the US & can never use them again in the future (if she ever buys her older masters for example). :))

LOVED your new video! LOVE the new Taylor version - I do agree - feel that new, fresh photo/artwork for the release would be even better.....and, if anything, to add to perfection, I would adore hearing an added , emo - Thissss Lovvvveeeee - going up and soaring in a new harmony to what she beautifully did/added at the end - just to take it ever so slightly into the stratosphere.

on apple music the lyrics are also different. she added a baby before i can go on and on and then instead of flickered in my mind it says flickered in the night in the new one. also she says In loosing grip in the new one rather than been loosing grip. just some things i’ve noticed!

I agree with what you're saying about the feeling of a perfect re-recording. I feel like Fearless TV is incredible- the songs are so much richer and sound pretty much identical, but some of Red TV sounds too different, especially with a lot of the openings. But I feel like she's really killed it with 1989 so far!

I feel like the release of these two 1989 TV songs, is very much marketing. Wildest dreams TV came out pretty much because the sing trended on TikTok, and with This Love TV it has been released because it is on the soundtrack of movie. She knows people are gonna listen to these songs because they are trending and on a soundtrack. It is smart, but it also just doesn't feel like there was any thought put into it, besides marketing.

I totally totally disagree with you guys about the album cover. Trust the process- if you know that Taylor normally thinks everything through so deeply, why would you suppose that this one time is different? Just because it’s a “recycled” picture, does not mean it doesn’t mean something bigger

I agree although it’s completely understandable for people to have high expectations for the album ESPECIALLY 1989 since it was so iconic. Also I do think this might be the official 1989 album cover as now even the wildest dreams has this same cover on Spotify.

Thanks for this great video!! Regarding owning handwriting - complete tangent, but the graphic designer who worked on Harry Potter hand-wrote the original Hogwarts letters Harry gets in the first film, and to be able to sell them later in her life she had to buy the rights to her own handwriting back from WB - so I feel it might be a bit more complicated in Taylor’s case as well 😬
