No Canadian Television list should be made without "The Littlest Hobo" or "King of Kensington" but I guess they have been lost to generations. The Title song for the Littlest Hobo is so Iconically Canadian it was voted into the top 10 Canadian Songs of all time by a CBC National Poll

I agree that most of these shows are absolutely worth watching. 19-2 is really underrated, and one episode, in particular, is a must-see as it follows a POV experience of a school shooting in progress, all done in a single take. Interestingly, the star of 19-2 is Jared Keeso, who co-created Letterkenny and has had most of the cast of 19-2 as regulars or guest stars. The 19-2 episode can be found on RU-vid.

My personal favorite is a kids show from the 70s called The Hilarious House of Frightenstein. Starring Billy Van (whose choir sang the original Spider-Man theme in 1968) and featuring Vincent Price. I would put Corner Gas at, or near the top of Comedy shows. The humour is fairly dry, and brilliant. I just binged watched Orphan Black, where an actress plays many parts exceedingly well. Canada as some great science fiction shows, like Firefly (with the movie Serenity), Sanctuary, Continuum, Killjoys, and Flash which were produced in Vancouver. Good kids shows too, although Friendly Giant (which I grew up on, and loved!) is not available anywhere that I know of, other than a few on RU-vid (look up, look waaaaay up!). I also grew up with the Beachcombers - a regular on Sunday night after Disney, and about a real place: Gibson's Landing, which is north of Vancouver. Murdock Mysteries is good if you like cop shows - set in the early 1900's, when forensic techniques were just being developed.

Corner Gas, without question is top of my list, it's the only TV show that we would plan supper around, "Corner Gas is on, grab your plate, get to the couch!". Anne of Green Gables (not just the sequel) is a superbly done telling of the classic book series based mostly in PEI. Megan Follows embodied Anne so perfectly, and the series had a superb supporting cast. I would add Royal Canadian Air Farce & This Hour has 22 minutes, but their humour may be too time period and Canadian political scene specific. Both were extremely well done though. Littlest Hobo is definitely a classic that should be sampled, and one episode of Corner Gas gives it a solid nod - from one classic Canadian show to another.

Early Street Legal was a great show. one of the main characters is the nephew in Red Green. You wouldn't recognize him , so different. You should watch 'Murdoch Mysteries". Very popular across the Commonwealth. Canadian detective series in 1900. inventive gadget making detective solving crimes in progress and chasing bad guys, conspiracies. Drawn from real events and notable people in Canada and US history. Prime Minister even played a humble desk cop in a cameo appearance and other known Canadians in other public walks of life.

During the pandemic, former Hollywood Squares and Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron became a fan of Canadian TV, he has connected with the cast of Corner Gas and has become buds with Yannick Bisson of MM.

And of course Corner Gas' very own Oscar (Eric Peterson) was one of the three original stars of Street Legal. Street Legal also had that uber cool intro by David Wilcox in the early years.

I was watching a Mert Can video the other daaaaay.... Letterkenny and Trailer Park Boys, definitely. They're probably gonna be some of the most genuine comedy from the other side (that is, the side that doesnt try to be family friendly-rated E for everyone. And i mean, you want to know Canadian lingo, Letterkenny will give a few ideas lol

The Littlest Hobo will always be my favorite Canadian show, too bad it didn't make the list. I believe it's the first weekly series that had no recurring human characters

How is "The Littlest Hobo" not on that list but "Beachcombers" is?!?! The Littlest Hobo is about a stray German Shepherd who wanders from town to town helping people in crisis. RIP London, good boy.

Orphan Black is a science sci-fi set in present day Toronto. It's about women who look alike and realize they are clones, one being an evolutionary developmental biology phd student. They are aware there are clones in other countires as well but don't know who created them, how many, or why. But now they are being killed off so they need to find out. It's a great series! Tatiana Maslany won best actress in a drama series in Canada for all five seasons. She also had Emmy, Golden Globe, People Choice, and Critics Choice nominations in the US, and won an Emmy. It originally aired on the Space Channel in Canada and BBC America in the US. By the end of season two it had been picked up in over 170 countires. Well worth seeing. There's several among these that I've watched. But Orphan Black is the one I bought on DVD and have rewatched several times.

Beachcomber's is a classic TV show, I don't think there is a single Canadian that hasn't watched it. One that isn't on the list that I watched and loved when I was young is Rainbow Country. Set in Ontario on Manitulan Island.

There was a very definite "millennial" feel to this list. I was prepared to sound off about three quarters into the video but it ended much better than it started. Much akin to Rainbow Country was the Forest Rangers. Clive Endersby (brother of Ralph/Chub Stanley) tells the story of Ralph Endersby coming to visit Clive in London (England). They were on their way to a party and were getting off the subway when Clive says to Ralph, don't embarrass me, nobody here knows about the Forest Rangers and nobody here cares about the Forest Rangers so don't go on about it at the party. Ralph says ok, and just as he does, he turns around to see a little girl screaming "Chub Stanley, Chub Stanley!" :) For production quality and world sales Forest Rangers was ahead of its time.

I grew up in the town where The Beach Combers was filmed, Gibsons BC. The restaurant in the show, Molly's Reach is still there. I loved the show as a kid, but it's a bit cheesy by today's standards. A Stephen King movie was also filmed there. Needful Things is my memory serves. It wasn't a great flick, but it was cool to see my local pub in a movie.

Bit of Trivia: Drake (from Toronto) played one of the characters on Degrassi: The Next Generation. Also, director Kevin Smith (Clerks / Jay and Silent Bob Movies) was a big fan of Degrassi.

Da Vinci' Inquest is based on an actual Vancouver Coroner who became mayor and did a term in the Canadian Senate. Slings and Arrows has an amazing cast and very Shakespearean story lines. Lost Girl is a cult classic that some of us will never get over the ending of. North of 60 and Blackstone are Indigenous lead shows worth watching though season 1 of Blackstone has a lot of shakeycam. Tribal also looks like good a good police series but I haven't watched it yet.
