Reaction to Anneke van Giersbergen Jest Oldu Beste Zangers 2021 - TEACHER PAUL REACTS 

The show Beste Zangers goes as follows: The best singers of the Netherlands and Flanders are invited. They are not paid, but get 10 days in a vacation resort. The must come alone (no spouses, children or managers allowed). This will cause them to bond deeply as they spend all day with each other. In preparation every singer must give a list to all other singers of songs of themselves, or songs that have meant a lot in their lives. Every singer sits in the hot seat once and all other singers perform a song from this list. Mostly a song in a style outside their wheelhouse (like an opera singer singing rap or Karsu singing in a low saxon dialect, or as in this video, Anneke singing in Turkish and rocking up Karsu's song Jest Oldu). But sometimes inside their wheelhouse, but always wit a twist (translated, for example). The show is half talk show talking about their struggles and highlights, half singing live. The final episode nobody is in the hot seat, but they all sing duets with each other. The most well known is the duet of Henk Poort and Floor Jansen singing Phantom of the opera in 2019. The show goes sometimes quite deep and emotional. These emotions are real. It is NOT a competition, the purpose is to have fun and give respect to the colleagues and give excellent performances with a twist.

Lovely reaction. Karsu is a Dutch singer, having Turkish parents and she usually sings in Turkish. Jest Oldu was Karsu's biggest hit and was also a cover done by her. After recording an album, she and the band were jamming and played this song. In the end they recorded it too. It was released in the Netherlands and nothing happened, but 2 years later it became a huge hit in Turkey. It was the biggest hit for Karsu so far. Karsu told that when she starts the song in Turkey, all the girls in the audiance start screaming, because the lyrics mean so much to them. Now, when Anneke did the song and looked while singing into Karsu's eyes, Karsu felt, she was that girl in the audiance. Anneke translated the song from Turkish into English, but left the chorus in Turkish, a huge suprise for Karsu. Now Anneke's cover of the song is a hit in Turkey and Anneke is invited by the original singer and writer of the song, to perform it with him in Turkey.

Karsu the singer on the couch who reacted so enthusiastically because Anneke sang a piece in Turkish. They are all well - known singers in the Netherlands who are invited for that program . Each episode one sits centrally on the couch next to the host and the others sing a song for or from the singer on the couch. Anneke is actually a rock/metal singer.😁 That's the nice thing about The Beste Zangers that the singers often go outside their comfort zone.

Easy: Karsu is a Turkish singer. She sings songs in many languages but one of them is Turkish pop star (Mustafa SANDAL) song “Jest Oldu”. Here Anneke sings this song in a very beautiful way. The original is in Turkish in soft pop sound. Here Anneke singed it so Karsu got emotional. Because her song translated in English, containes Turkish part and covered in metal. So she feel honoured.

Anneke used to be the lead singer of The Gathering (early nineties) You should listen to "Strange Machines" She showed Floor (Nightwish), Simone (Epica), Sharon (Whitin Temptation) a female fronted metal band is awesome. Beste Zangers has it's own wikipage. They are all known singers from different genres and era's. Each episode one of the singers is 'in the hot seat' and the other singer pay tribute to this singer by sing singing a song for him/her that is important to him/her. It can be a first hit, something from their childhood, something that has inspired him/her , the song that was played at the wedding....anything.... It is not a competition, it's just for fun and to show each other respect.

Karsu got very emotional when Anneke started to sing in her native language, Turkish. This was a song that Karsu sang on one of her records. It was actually originally written by another Turkish male singer. Anneke sang it for Karsu, but they do not know each other until this show. Anneke is an amazing vocalist. Floor Jansen was highly inspired and influenced by Anneke as she was growing up in The Netherlands. All "Beste Zangers" (Dear Singers) are invited singers and frequently representing complete different music genres. The nice thing is that they often rewrites and/or performed the song (written, liked, or performed by the person sitting on the couch. This evening 'Karsu Dönmez', born 19 April 1990. Karsu is a Dutch singer, born in Amsterdam, but with Turkish roots. The performer embrace and frequently transforms it into their own music style. Sometimes translating the lyrics, but only with respect (for the original version) talent and arrangement of whoever wrote the song. Frequently they adapt the text with a personal twist to the singer for whom they perform this. So they usually add an aditional layer, a new dimension to the song. Anneke has also translated the original Turkish lyrics into Englisg and directly applied the context to Karsu herself. Anneke did arranged it into Symphonic Metal (her own music style) but left the original chorus as it was: Turkish (the language and homeland of Karsu's ancestors).

Anneke is such a gift to us all. At 48 she still sings amazing. There are tons of videos of her around RU-vid. She was the lead singer for The Gathering from 1194 - 2007. Had her own band called Vuur, did some albums with The Devin Townsend project and is featured with other bands like Within Temptation and Amorphis.

Normal karsu sings this song for the girls in her audians now it felt for her that anneke specialy sang it to her so she felt what those girls feel

She's considered one of the pioneers in female, clean vocalist, fronted melodic goth/symphonic metal in the mid nineties. With her band The Gathering, she inspired many bands, musicians and singers in that and related genres, through both their music and her performances. She's still heavily associated with the metal scene and that's where her heart lies, but her discography features many genres and numerous collaborations. The reason Floor Jansen (Nightwish) got into "metal" is ..... Anneke and is one of Floor's BFF's. Anneke played in several bands (THE GATHERING, VUUR) and solo's. Best teacher paul, you needed more context, beste zangers is a program with different artists, evere week is one off the singers in the spotlight. In this video is anneke singing for the emotional girl on the bank, she is also the songwriter off the song anneke is performing, the other people on tge bank are also singing this evening for that girl, anneke is singing a part of the song in turkish, the land where the girl is born and later the are went living here in holland
