It ws written for a 1955 prison film called " Unchained " . The Righteous Brothers made it popular in the 60's and then Elvis sang it. Austin really seems to feel the songs he performs. Thanks for the Home Free reactions.

As noted, the song was from a movie in 1952 called "Unchained" in which a prisoner tries to decide wether to escape or serve out his sentence to be with his love. The video that Home Free did in their version of this song, is actually a throwback to that original theme, which you will see when you see the video.

I thought you were emotional because you were witnessing perfection. Home Free also has a beautiful version of Unchained Melody and of Austin's original song, "Stargazer Lilies." Solos on his channel: "If I Met You Now" (written by Austin) is exquisite; and I love his covers of "Bring Him Home", "Neon Moon", "Danny Boy", "Ain't No Sunshine", "At Last", "You've Got a Friend."

The Righteous Brothers had a big hit in 1965 of this classic song & it is one of my favorites. Sadly we lost Bobby Hatfield almost 20 years ago. He had a beautiful one of a kind voice. Austin did a very beautiful tribute of this song. I also love Home Free's version of this song.

This beautiful song has been covered by so many people. The Righteous Brothers made it famous. It originally appeared in the 1952 prison movie, “Unchained”. That’s where the title came from. The first singer was black opera singer, Todd Duncan. He also originated Porgy in Gershwin’s musical Porgy and Bess. For music from Patrick Swayze movies, may I suggest something from blues guitarist Jeff Healey. There’s good video of “Confidence Man”.
