Our first reaction to BabyMetal was very surprising to us, and we were not totally prepared for what we saw or heard. Today, we are going back to them with this performance of "Road to Resistance" live from Japan.
Video used in this reaction: • BABYMETAL - Road of Re...

Good reaction. Welcome again to the crazy universe of BabyMetal. BabyMetal is an atypical heavy metal group, because they are idols. In Japan, idols are often paired with pop music (Jpop), and Babymetal was actually a subgroup of a larger idol group called Sakura Gakuin. Sakura was made up of girls between 10 and 15 years old dedicated to Jpop. When SuMetal (the singer) started she was 12 years old and MoaMetal/YuiMetal (the backup singers) were only 10 years old. Sakura represented the Japanese high school and the girls were distributed in clubs (traditional Japanese extracurricular activities such as cooking, swimming, basketball, sewing, etc.). One of the producers, a lover of heavy metal, saw that Su's singing could perfectly be used in metal and asked permission from the Mother House (Amuse) to create the heavy music club, proposing an experiment in fusion between metal and the pop. Nobody, as they themselves have confessed, had much hope for its outcome, but they gave it the green light and thus BabyMetal, Sakura Gakuin's heavy music club, was born. The first songs were intended for girls between 10 and 15 years old, who were Sakura's target audience. However, their quality and the fusion between pop and metal attracted attention beyond this audience and they began to frequent their metal concerts... a shocking audience of children and metalheads. And it worked, it worked so well that they began to support groups like Metallica, Red Hot, BMTH or Lady Gaga, I seem to remember, on their tours in Japan. And the Red Hot singer commented that he was impressed to realize that part of the public came to see them, not them. And so the base of BabyMetal fans grew. Sakura was a group in which, upon turning 15, the members had to leave (to pursue their careers elsewhere) and the producer (KobaMetal) requested permission again to create BabyMetal as an independent group. Success was already beginning to become a reality in Asia, so they authorized it, although Moa and Yui (they were still 13 years old) would also continue to be part of other Sakura clubs (I don't know when the poor girls studied, but they did). In 2014 a milestone would arrive in the group's history. They were already an established metal group in Asia that sold out concerts, but they had not yet made the leap to the West. In that year his song "Gimme Chocolate" rose to fame on RU-vid (currently 182M views) and attracted the attention of the producers of the Sonisphere festival. KobaMetal had doubts about taking the step, since their musical proposal (Kawaii Metal or Cute Metal, a genre of which they are considered creators) might not be accepted in the West and the metalheads who went to the Sonisphere had a reputation for saying goodbye to very bad manners to the artists they didn't like (even with bottles full of urine), but they were offered to go to one of the secondary stages (about 5000 spectators) and they ended up accepting. But the success of BabyMetal on RU-vid and the fact that all the concerts they were going to give in Europe were sold out in a few days, convinced the producers to take them to the main stage, where they would share with groups like Metallica, for example. How many girls (they were between 16 and 14 years old at that time) were "terrified" before going out, and they didn't know what scared them more: that they wouldn't understand their music and they would have to run away or that when they went out on stage it would be empty. . But the story was very different, not only was it not empty, but more than 50,000 metalheads, an estimated 95% of whom had never heard of them, finished their fifth and last song chanting "another one, another one." And that's how they achieved popularity in the West as well. They currently have 4 albums on the market: -Babymetal (2013): Their first album and the most childish of all, since they were between 15-13 years old when it came out and had energetic, positive music that left a smile on their faces. Headbangers is from this album. -Metal Resistence (2016): an album that, without losing the essence of the first, shows more mature music, going from childhood to adolescence. Songs like Karate were a large part of his presentation in the West. -Metal Galaxy (2018): a turning point in its style. Without abandoning their energy, they turned their attention to new forms of metal fusion (hip-hop, dance music, Hindu music or European folklore, among others), projecting a much more mature music in keeping with their age, which was already around 21 years old. of Su and the 18 of Moa (unfortunately Yui left the group due to health problems) And now in 2023 they have just released their new album "The Other One", which is, again, totally different from what they have done until now (one of the hallmarks of BabyMetal is that their songs are usually very different some from others (although they are all positive adrenaline releases) Currently BabyMetal is considered the most important Heavy Metal group in Japan (I'm not saying the best, that's for everyone to decide) and the most influential in history in the West (it has reached levels that no other Japanese heavy group has reached before). ). The journey through the Babymetal galaxy may be long, but it is certainly entertaining and with a few songs it drags you with a smile into the fox hole.

Mere kids//teenagers just kicked @ss on the same mainstage that Iron Maiden would perform on later In the evening! Totally unheard of!!! Hats off to Babymetal Producer: Kobametal, aka Kei Kobayashi for daring to make the impossible, possible! To this day imo Nothing has been as Miraculous as >Babymetal

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 Hey, hey, hey! Coach! I am a 68-year old man, but I jump into circle pits in BABYMETAL shows. That is fun. (Actually I started workout at gym 4 year ago to do that 🤣 ) The crowd involvement (mosh pit, call & response, chant etc.) occurs wherever they go on this planet. This song is played in every show including their 2023 North American tour with DETHKLOK (29 gigs) and ongoing EU/UK tour (20 gigs) and the audience went and will go nuts. 😄 In your video, Su shouted some words at 12:48 meaning "Bring them on!". Fans analyzed that the provocative shout was thrown at people who had been ignoring, underrating, mocking, hating and even trying to discredit BABYMETAL. That shout may have been necessary in 2015 but not any longer. She shouted it rarely since then or when she does, it is with her mild voice and friendly smile that I love. The girls have grown up into beautiful ladies. The maturity has added more attractiveness to this band. Please react to videos including recent ones to explore BM more.

Liked this reaction! One of the biggest draws for Babymetal I believe is that its meticulously built for crowd interaction and participation. The majority of the songs have catchy hooks, choruses, and crowd chants for a reason, along with choreography the crowd is meant to copy. The point being, after going to a show, you think "wow I just performed WITH Babymetal" insteae of "I just watched a show" Unity and community is big in their messaging, which adds to the united feeling of the experience. Add on top of that just amazing dancing and insane infectious energy, along with their powerful stage presence (especially now) and it's just mind blowing. I love it!!

Yes, initially they do mess with your mind, but once you are into them (we call it falling down the Foxhole), you'll be hooked. You say you cannot be in that circle pit at your age..... I was 74 when I ran in their circle pit during "Road of Resistance", twirling a towel and high-fiving fans around us this January in Japan. I was trying to get tickets to the Blue Ridge Festival in VA this summer, when my two daughters pleaded me not to go, telling me that is not where a 75 year old should be wandering around. When I said I ran in the circle pit in Japan, they said,"Those pits in Japan are lame (or was it tame?)" Either way, you should try going to one of their live shows in Japan... and you are definitely not in your 70s, so no problem. Their stage construction is something to experience. 🦊🦊🦊

I told you I'd be back! 😉 An excellent choice for your second reaction - BABYMETAL is, indeed, an extravaganza! What Mrs. Coach noticed about Su-metal (the "middle one") is what is generally known as the "Su-metal death stare" - very intense! My first exposure to BABYMETAL was with their video of "Gimme Chocolate!!", and I wasn't quite sure if I should like this or not. That's when I watched more and was hooked! Now, at the risk of repeating a lot that you probably already know, a quick synopsis: BABYMETAL has been around for a bit over twelve years now (they started when their lead singer - known as Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) - was about twelve, and the two "cheerleaders" (or the “Greek chorus” as I like to call them - officially "scream and dance" (backing vocals)) - Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) and Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) - were both around eleven. Unfortunately, Yui left the band in 2018, and only earlier this year Momometal (Momoko Okazaki) was named a member of the group. They do not play instruments but are backed by the Kami Band ("gods of music") - session musicians who are among the best that Japan (and the U.S.) has to offer. As for those who were dressed as skeletons, they are known as the "Babybones", a mime band who are not actually playing the instruments but just putting on a show. When BABYMETAL was first starting out, it was a question of money: they couldn't afford session musicians at every concert so they performed to a backing music track with the Babybones doing their thing. BABYMETAL started a brand new genre of music ("kawaii metal" - cute metal), and they cannot be pigeon-holed - they are almost always thinking and moving outside box; they made listening to metal FUN! With BABYMETAL, expect the unexpected - they have a talent for pressing the "WTF?!" button. They have, to date, four studio albums, and have been on a number of world tours. It is common knowledge among their devoted fans (known as "The One") that BABYMETAL is best served live, but they do have several music videos that are real works of art. If you have a notion to check out more BABYMETAL, here are some suggestions along with recommended versions: Doki Doki Morning (official music video) Iine! (official MV) Gimme Chocolate!! (official MV or Legend 1997 Apocalypse version) Megitsune (official MV) BABYMETAL Death (Legend 1997 Apocalypse version) [be advised that this version might be a bit disturbing for some viewers; just remember - not a cult! Just entertainment] Onedari Daisakusen (Legend 1997 Apocalypse version) Song 4 No Uta (Budokan Black Night 2014 version) Uki Uki * Midnight (Budokan Black Night 2014 version) Catch Me If You Can (Budokan Black Night 2014 version) Ijime, Dame, Zettai (Live at Sonisphere 2014 version) Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! (Legend 1997 Apocalypse version) Karate (official MV) Meta Taro (Five Fox Festival version) GJ! (Fox Festival 2017 version) Sis Anger (Fox Festival 2017 version) Shanti Shanti Shanti (official MV) Pa Pa Ya!! (official MV) BxMxC (official MV) Metalizm (official MV) Metali!! (official MV) I would include the links but, for some reason, RU-vid sometimes thinks I'm posting spam and will delete my comment. For the links, see the RU-vid playlist “BABYMETAL Top Twenty”; it is a mix of MV’s and live performances, is more or less in historical sequence, and could be considered a road map down the BABYMETAL foxhole. If nothing else, it can be used as a reference to find high quality versions of BABYMETAL songs without mucking about - if they are on the list. Sorry about the wall! Keep rockin' BABYMETAL!!! I didn't get Babymetal at first. "You got cute cheerleaders in my heavy metal!!?!" And like Coach, my brain fought to process two different visions of what a song / concert / performance should or even could be. Each song I heard, each lyric I learned, the picture came into focus, until I finally had that revelatory moment. It was my 5th Babymetal song, and it was Ijime, Dame, Zettai Live at Sonosphere 2014. Now they're my favorite band, my favorite team of artists out there pouring out heart and soul to make the world a better place. This is a true hero's journey in Kawaii Metal form, struggling to find a spot, carving out a place in this world, finding acceptance. Finding hate, disdain, apathy, and persevering. To me, the Babymetal experience does not equate to an 87 minute superhero movie, but rather a trilogy of "Lord of the Rings, Extended Edition" proportion. Some awesome music produced by supremely talented artists out there, if you turn over a rock, you'll find nothing. "I thought it sounded like a cool riff." etc. And that's fine. When I looked over Babymetal, and turned over rocks, I found worms and bugs, sure. But I also found encouragement, tenacity, togetherness, acceptance, and a willingness to speak out against some of the most basic problems that any one human can face. WE ARE BABYMETAL! We are The One! We want big plates of meat in America, and chocolate. And we are -not a cult-

What you saw at the beginning was called a "Wall of Death" - Su-Metal indicated for the crowd to part, and then rush into each other before moving to the circle pit. FYI, the white robes and face paint are representative of spirits and ghosts in Japan. Don't worry - BABYMETAL is confusing to most people when they first encounter them, but you will totally get on board and "get it" as you react to more of their stuff. They invented their own metal subgenre called "Kawaii Metal", (which means cute metal), and, frankly, its genius and I'm sure you will come to think so too as time goes on. This group is flat out amazing and one of the best, most interesting things happening in metal today, not to mention one of the absolute best live performing bands in the world today - their arena shows are legendary. I took to BABYMETAL immediately because I've been a huge fan of the Japanese music scene for many years (currently the best in the world in my opinion). Besides BABYMETAL, there is a very thriving metal scene in Japan, including many all-girl metal and rock bands, as well as alternative idol (also known as Alt-Idol) groups that blend metal with traditional pop idol structures and aesthetics. Make no mistake, Su-Metal is fierce - she is famous for her death stare, and her charisma and ability to control a crowd. This only becomes truer the older she gets. As for recommendations, there are so many potential possibilities. BABYMETAL has been recording and performing for over 13 years (since the girls were around ages 11-13) and they have a first-rate and diverse musical catalog with many different styles of metal (and other genres of music) incorporated into their music. I'll just suggest a few next: Monochrome (live version) - This song is from their most recent album and most recent tour. It is a softer song with much personal meaning to them, especially Su-Metal. Be sure to turn on the captions as there are translated lyrics in the clip I have linked to: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XJZhy7fWNyY.htmlsi=lGx0uJiiVYgshpHz B.M.C. (live compilation) - This is BABYMETAL's metal-rap fusion song that is also an ode to gaming - very cool stuff. This link also has available subtitles: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HMzaWcunMO4.htmlsi=go4vbOpyT0rcwsVP Brand New Day (live compilation) - This is probably my favorite track from BABYMETAL's third album (Metal Galaxy). The album version of the song features Polyphia guitarists Tim Henson and Scott LePage, and just has amazing guitar compositions and song structure. It also has a very catchy yet edgy vibe. Once again, this link has subtitles: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BSwYAvAR2kM.htmlsi=q8RnZXX7-lP6SFPK Okay, that should hold you for a while. Enjoy your trip down the foxhole.

Thank you for your wonderful action. This video is said to be a "legendary stage." The reason is that this video was an "encore song" after all the performances had finished, and the girls were 16 to 17 years old. Also, backing them up during this period was a group called "KAMIBAND", and all the performers were world-class performers. Of course, the singers' singing and dancing performances were also top-notch. The lyrics of this song are also great, so please look for an English translation. You picked the two best songs to start your journey because both videos are the best live performances of the two songs that BM has done. You have so much in front of you to enjoy and marvel at. BM is really known as a group best seen in live videos, though they have a couple of good music videos also. I would recommend the official music video of their song Karate, which is about fighting and conquering your personal demons. It is a excellently produced music video that is quite impressive. The best live version of Karate is from 2016 at the Download Festival in Great Britain, which is an invite-only concert. BM did their first concert in the West in 2014 in Great Britain at Sonisphere and were such a big hit they were invited back. There is just so much great music to hear. Right now, the best music on the planet is coming out of Asia, especially from Japan. In addition, Japan leads the league in amazing female rock and metal bands, which have disappeared from the US. In 2023 alone, at least 8 Japanese groups had US tours, including BM, Band Maid and Gacharic Spin (yeah, they have some unique names). I'm going to give you choices to check out: Band Maid is a 10 year old rock band that does hard rock, punk rock and everything in between. These five ladies are at the top of the heap when it comes to excellent rock. I would suggest the official live videos of Domination, Choose Me, Freedom and Onset(an instrumental). That would give you a good start. Now what if I told you there is a kick-ass Japanese group that was influenced by The Beatles that play classic filthy blues rock we haven't heard in the US in a LONG time and have a definite 60's retro sound, right down to using vintage Rickenbacker and Les Paul guitars ? Their name is Glim Spanky, another great name, they've been around since 2008 or so and is comprised of two people, vocalist/guitarist Remi Matsuo and guitarist Hiroki Kamemoto. They use session musicians for live performances and studio recordings. Remi has a very distinctive voice and I'll let you judge for yourself, but she does an amazing cover of Move Over by Janis Joplin. First you should react to Circle of Time from their 2020 RU-vid Live Concert, it is spectacular. Two other great songs are Breaking Down Blues and a country & western influenced song named By Myself Again. Lastly there is another 60's influenced bluesy songs named Singin' Now. There is so much talent in Asia it's unreal. I first got into Japanese music when Kill Bill came out in 2003. There was a Japanese female group called The 5, 6, 7, 8's in the film which caught my attention, which led to another rock/metal group called Show-Ya. I kind of lost interest after that until about 6 years ago someone posted a music video from a Japanese group called Wagakki Band on Facebook and I was instantly hooked. WGB is a story for another day, but they are a true supergroup in today's music world. Sorry I got carried away, lol. Well until next time.

Yes, the thing with what you see and what you hear... at the beginning you have difficulty putting it together in your head. cute girls with cute outfits singing about eating chocolate and the fear of gaining weight ("Give me Chocolade")...or...about the Japanese form of hide and seek ("catch me if you can")...or about a 15 year old going to her first metal concert ("Headbanger")...or just about the number 4, which is an unlucky number in Japan, like '13' ("4/4 No Uta") in the West. or even serious topics like 'bulling' ("Ijime, Dame, Zettai")...but the whole thing is accompanied by rock/heavy metal music... at the beginning you think 'how does that work?!' but it does. These artists started when they were still children. now they are women in their mid-20s. a long path filled with great music. and their journey is far from over.

4:00 _"Now Pizza time (Pizza time!)"_ 🦊🤘🍕 Welcome back to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's journey🦊🤘🔥 Nice you're back with this suggestion to follow your BM journey, just like here it was the ender for the show in this World Tour 2023, currently in Europe and UK Tour, and everyone loved to have fun with this one. "Road Of Resistance" is a power/speed metal song, it's one of their most epic anthem and the album version got the guitar arrangements made by Sam Totman and Herman Li from DragonForce. It's all about facing your own path without looking back. This was part of the Trilogy Of 2015, live at New Year Fox Festival - Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, by this time their fame was already high due to viral success on YT of Gimme Chocolate! MV, people from all over the world attended this live concert in Japan, and 20K souls witnessed this epic moment. With only 15 and 17 years old this moment will be forever remember when they're performing this song to reminds them all the support they got from their fans no matter where they go, either a small or big stages. The Kami Band here are magnificent set of elite musicians whom were send to help with the metal sound, they rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (especially the guitarists). They are: - Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording some albums. - Takayoshi Ohmura, god of guitar, he's Míkio' Fujioka's pupil (another beloved Kami Band guitarist who sadly past away) and a prodigy child, you'll see his recognizable pink guitar. - BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but his fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP. - Hideki Aoyama, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father is very famous in Japan music scene. At the end of their shows they always said "We are BabyMetal!" with the crowd, to making them sure that they're part of this show and project too, is a line borrowed to X-Japan saying it at live concerts too. Next suggestion; - Catch Me If You Can with Kami Band intro live at Budokan 2014. See you next time 🦊🤘🔥

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🏴 🏴 🏴 "Stand up and shout, Shout!, Justice Forever!" - (Road of Resistance) - Pretty much a master class in audience control. The lead singer Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) had just turned 17 a couple of weeks before this January 10th, 2015 extravaganza. Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) and Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) were 15. BABYMETAL believe that if a song sounds too much like one genre, then it's not a BABYMETAL song. You can definitely feel the speed metal component in this one though. This performance was at Saitama Super Arena (SSA) with a sold out crowd of over 20,000. Su first appeared at SSA in 2008 as the youngest member of the J-Pop trio Karen Girl's, when she was 10 years old. She's been back many times since headlining with BABYMETAL.

@road-runner
@road-runner 10 месяцев назад
Good one, thanks! What you experienced is called sensory dissonance and it's totally normal. Each of us has experienced it to a greater or lesser extent at the beginning. Specially when you are an old school lifelong metalhead like me. But it's what they do. They define themselves as the mix of metal and "kawaii" (cute) and they deliver what they announce. On stage, they are playing a character: Su-metal is the leader and she obviously provides the lead vocals and the fierce (death) glares as she is in control of the entire venue although she can act also cute. While Yui and Moa (now Moa and Momoko) are in charge of the main part of the choreo, backing vocals and crowd control. And that implies the more "kawaii" aspect. "Kami" means god or spirit in Japanese. And the band takes that name because they represent the "god" or "spirit" of each instrument. And that's also why they wear traditional burial robes and white face paint. In 2019 they changed to darker robes and masks. You could try this one next: "Catch me if you can" (Live at Budokan Black Night): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YiAJeKgufMk.html Until next time! 🤘🦊

Wall of death. good times. basically yeah, Su tells the crowd to part, they do as instructed, then bam...run towards the wall when it goes off...brave...insane...protect your face and its all fun. go in head first and you're gonna have a bad time (and potential concussion). So yeah, wall of death is what happened. then it evolved into a circle pit (mostly just running in circles). mosh pit is a bit like a circle pit but with lots of violence, so...yeah, not soo much violence, mostly just running in circles..some bumping of course but its mostly just for the vortex effect verses some smashing against each other. Both can be cathartic mind you, but circle pits require less first aid afterwards. Lore in a nutshell: Kami Bands are the spirits..japanese lore stuff actually. They now separated into 2 bands (east and west) but the white robe days..my favorite time. (they replaced one of the backup singers also...not intentionally, just one became unwell so ultimately quit for health concerns..took them like 5 years to replace her spot to just this year). This song, when it came out, got me from curious and intrigued but still dismissing them as a gimmick to full onboard. I would say for videos, avoid fancam stuff..it'll just confuse you. I think next might be a good Su-metal solo called Rondo of Nightmare. Check out the band intro also.

Great reaction - and that battle in your head with how these are things that shouldn't work together and them warping your mind ... as Su-metal once said "Don't think. Feel." Just embrace the extravaganza of the visuals, audio and every other sense. Talking of Su-metal - she is in charge when she is on stage - a gesture, a look and everybody does as she says. Off stage she is Suzuka Nakamoto, one of the sweetest, most humble and appreciative young ladies you could ever hope to meet. This video was from January 2015 at the Saitama Super Arena. Su was 17, Yui and Moa only 15 and that was over 20,000 people completely under their control. Even at that age Su just looks at the crowd, spreads her arms and the crowd opens up for a wall of death (ie they separate and as the music starts they charge at each other from either side) and that evolved into the circle pit. This was also the end of a 90 minute concert - they had been keeping that same energy up without any drop in quality for the whole time. It is what they do - they appreciate people have often paid a lot of money and travelled a long way to see them, they never give anything less than 100% for every song at every concert, whether that is one of their big arena concerts in Japan or at the many various sized venues as they tour the world. About the song itself - 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way. It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow. Herman Li and Sam Totman from British Power/Speed metal band DragonForce did the guitar arrangements for this song (it is the only one they were involved in) and recorded the guitars for the album version. They have said they made this more technical and faster than most of their own songs thinking they would never have to play it live ... and that they had to practice hard when they did perform it with BABYMETAL at an awards show in London later in 2015. This was the Kami Band playing live of course, each one of them is a world class musician (also kami means god or spirit, so in BABYMETAL lore they are the gods of guitar, bass and drums summoned from the dead to support BABYMETAL in the Metal Resistance ... which explains the corpse paint and white burial robes). If you watch very early videos you may see see people wearing skeleton suits waving guitars and drumsticks - that was not the Kami Band, that was guys called Babybones and they were actors and dancers pretending to play the instrumentrs before BABYMETAL could afford to hire live musicians. In this concert the Kami Band were Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars (Takayoshi has the glitter pink guitar) with BOH on his 6 string bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums.

Welcome back to your journey. I think this is something we've all gone through, it takes a bit to get your head wrapped around it, which is part of the point the lead singer goes for. She wants you to see a concert and at the end go "what was that?" One of their goals is to shake up the music establishment, and they are doing that. At the start Su opened the pit, which then became a wall of death with both sides crashing into each other, and morphed into a circle pit. For the next song I would recommend Metali! feat. Tom Morello, either the video (which is excellent) or a recent live performance at Summer Sonic 2023. This is where they are today. Kitsune up!

BabyMetal is great. Years back when I first heard them I was just like you was confused and thinking this should not work but it is. I loved going down that fox hole and learning and listening to what they have done over the past 10 plus years. Even better it lead me to even more Japanese rock and metal bands that have become some of my favorites like Nemophila, BandMaid, LoveBites and Hanabie Which you might like some of those bands too not to mention they are all female bands too. You two should try to check them out sometime in future.Japan has many great musicians and many of them are female. Some more suggestions for BabyMetal Rondo of Nightmare which is just Sumetal(the lead singer by herself.) Also Ijime, Dame, Zettai live at Sonisphere 2014 which was there big breakout show outside of Japan. Megitsune which is a big fan fav and one of most popular. They have alot of newer stuff out now too which is cool and great songs but more adult and different like Monochrome Live. They are all in their early mid 20s now. but their old stuff is a must watch IMO to learn where they started and what got them to 10plus years. Oh and Su does have a great metal death stare but she is a sweetheart if you met her in person.

Yes I originally didn't give them a chance. Seeing them and a rock band and just thought it was another weird Japanese thing I wouldn't understand. But they kept popping up in my suggestions the more I watched other international groups and started listening to them. Now 6-8 years later I have many of their songs in several playlists.

Hi from Ireland wow what a wise choice, there are so many suggestions all very valid, what got me emotional when I first seen this was how must these girls in their early teens felt hearing such a huge audience sing back to them, can't fathom hiw wonderful it was fir them. But I strongly suggest as a contrast monochrome live, the crowd interaction just as awesome but they are older and also a very different more heartfelt song in contrast

Like I've said, metal isn't for me, but what I can enjoy is seeing a group that has developed their own concept, seemingly perfected it, and have a large rabid fanbase that's having so much fun at their concerts. Western metal is more chaotic, whereas this is an almost militaristic discombobulating extravaganza. The music may not be for me, but it is fun to watch.

as a fan of Babymetal i appreciate what you have said. of course Babymetal is not for everybody and i am fine with that. but you see a hard working team that comes together and puts on a great live experience for its fans. that is what a fan wants. Babymetal is what you said. it is fun metal. and it is. the energy at their shows are tremendous.

It's hard to explain but, Babymetal changed my life. My first time hearing them (Gimme Chocolate) back in 2014, i was mesmerized. It was fascinating on so many levels. But what changed my life was when i went to my first Babymetal concert in NYC, that i traveled by car to see them from Houston Texas. I met so many like-minded people and made friends from all over the world. A comraderie not seen at any other shows I've ever been to. It was the most amazing feeling in the world. And that feeling and those friends i made have only gotten stronger. I even went to Japan to see them at Tokyo Dome, and had an experience of a lifetime. One of the best friends i made from Japan, has hosted me and i likewise hosted him when he came to visit Texas. Babymetal isn't just a musical group. They have become a way of life. Spreading the love and friendship that Babymetal sings about in their songs. It's not the dark, anger and angst of typical metal. It's...Hqppy metal. It's feel good metal. It gives hope and good feelings to all who listen to their message. That's why their fan base is called The One. Because we are all One in spirit. Long live The Fox God!! #notacult

@@CoachCastTVcan suggest a song from them? Try Monochrome. One of their newest songs. So you can see how far they've come in over ten years. Then try Doki Doki Morning, their very first single released when they were 12 and 10 years old. That way you get both spectrums of their career. Just a suggestion.

@Ganimal83 10 месяцев назад
Hey hey! Welcome back to Babymetal, and I'm glad you did this song, and enjoyed it! Their dichotomy of heaviness and adorableness definitely took me some time to adjust to. However, afterward, I realized that Babymetal was, and continues to be able to bring energy, fun, and happiness to the Metal genre dominated by aggressive and "angry" music (which I'm here for). This was so refreshing, and is what keeps me coming back for more Babymetal! This was a Jan 2015 performance, when lead Su-metal just turned 17, and the other 2 (Yuimetal and Moametal) were 15 years old. And yes, Su has a death glare like no other, that's why she's the queen, and Yui and Moa are just adorable as a button, as you said lol. It still boggles my mind how mid-teens are able to control a 20K sold-out crowd so easily, but at this point, they are already 5-year veterans of the show business. Their backing band, the Kami (God) Band is a session-perfected group of expert musicians. In Babymetal lore, they are spirits of heavy metal (hence the white robes and corpse face paint) called down by "THE FOX GOD" to assist Babymetal in their journey to spread positivity and metal/J-pop fusion to fans (The ONE) around the world. Other suggestions: 1). Monochrome (Live at Pia Arena MM, April 2nd, 2023): 8 years later, you get to see a more "mature" Babymetal in their mid-20s rock an epic performance with an amazing audience engagement segment. Yuimetal, unfortunately, left the group in 2018 due to health, and Momometal was just announced as a successor and official 3rd member the day before, after 3 years of hard work with Babymetal. 2). Rondo of Nightmare (Live at Budokan 2014): Babymetal shows off the Kami Band in an epic band flex, followed by a Su-metal solo. 3). Ijime, Dame, Zettai (Live at Sonisphere UK 2014): Babymetal's first major show outside of Japan at a legitimate metal festival, bumped up to the main stage due to a fan campaign. In this iconic and historical performance, Babymetal won over a 55K crowd of UK metal heads who, for the vast majority, had no clue who they were. In the end, they were asking for more as Babymetal walked off stage. This show was THE show that truly elevated Babymetal to the world stage! Look forward to more Babymetal! 🤘🦊

Gimme Chocolate was one of my first songs that i had heard from them. Now that one, is what you're explaining, these 2 shouldn't go together. Everything you mentioned was my reaction to Headbanger Legend 1997, a version of the last song you reacted to that I recommend you watch on your own time, if not on your channel. It was contradicting but I knew it came from a culture where these things are normal and I just ran with it as a serious thing. As the song progressed and I became increasingly immersed, by the time it came to the “breakdown” where Yui and Moa (the side dancers) started firing the fog guns, I was into it and it felt so metal. I mean that “evil dark” vibe that you would get from a performance of Enter Sandman and such, the music and performance was on point. When the camera zoomed in on Su’s death stare with the red lighting and everything, that vibe hit it’s pinnacle and it felt like I was experiencing a true heavy metal experience like any other epic show. But then the next shot shows Moa’s adorable smiling face as she pans past the camera while shooting her fog gun and it reminded me of what was still going on, “it’s cute metal, get it?”. The self-awareness of what was actually happening instantly shattered my immersion all the while the music and performance still carried on, kept me hooked, and kept the adrenaline going. It was like I was being played a fool the whole time and I allowed it to happen and even enjoyed it. Imagine being an audience member at a circus and being convinced to take part in some hypnotic trick for shits and giggles and you end up having a psychedelic trip in the process. It was nothing short of a heavy metal religious experience for me. This experience would be dialled up 11 with their Babymetal Death Legend 1997 performance, which I hope you will eventually get around to watching after seeing a few more of their shows. It is heavy, it hits hard, and the theatrics are by far the best you will ever witness in the history of metal. METAL AS FUCK, is the best way to describe what happens on that stage.

Great reaction, thanks, glad you enjoyed! A quick comment about the Kami Band; Kami can mean something like ancestral spirits / family spirits depending on context, they are dressed as spirits as part of a theme where they are the spirits supporting Babymetal. It's one of so many little details that tie in to the overall concept of the band, like every detail is well thought out and considered. I first saw them when gimme chocolate went viral about ten years ago, I thought it was combined the most fun and weird thing I had seen musically ever. I didn't keep up with them until a couple of years ago when this song (road of resistance) popped up in my feed seemingly at random. I was curious if they continued, was blown away by this performance and kept checking out more. I think I have watched every one of their concerts now, and am still blown away nearly every time I find something new by them. If I may suggest for a fantastic third song to check out: "BABYMETAL - Ijime,Dame,Zettai - Live at Sonisphere 2014,UK (OFFICIAL)" Gimme Chocolate went viral and led to a huge bump in their growth when they were just starting out. This performance/concert series was a part of them winning industry awards. BABYMETAL - Ijime,Dame,Zettai - Live at Sonisphere 2014 was a large part of them gaining global popularity, and collaboration with other bands; they were originally booked at the festival to play a side tent (for like 1000 capacity), got bumped to the main stage (65000ish?) and had never played in the west - maybe 1/50 people knew who they were to start. they killed it.

🤘🦊🤘 Mrs. Coach already spotted Su-Metal's Death Glare! Coach, looks like you were feeling that Dragonforce style guitar solo before the crowd participation chant. Herman Li was a part of the team for that. If you do end up reacting to more BM, I've got a little tidbit for you! Hold your hand out, fingers spread, palm away from you. Without bending them, bring thumb, middle, and ring fingers together. You well end up with something similar to "Metal Horns" but also kind of canine like. This is the Fox Sign. The One's "secret handshake", if you will, represented crudely in emoji at the beginning of this post, and called out as *Kitsune Up!* Foxes up!

Early Babymetal performance was like a Harry Potter sort of books, each song meant to be a chapter of Babymetal story. You confused with what you see and what you heard because you stepped in from the middle of the story. The band behind called "Kami band", translated in English "Band of God". They all dressed white because they were all spirits. The girls dressed white once in their concert, that also meant they were spirits, and they were dead once. They dressed like little worriors in a cute way, in collor, it means they've been reborn. Unless you joining the fox hole from the very beginning and joined their early concert, you will be confused with all the lores and don't know what's going on. I've been there.
