Peak Sabbath ! I used to just freak out listening to this song. The whole album was just so incredible. My parents thought I was mental.

Easy to see why Bonham would pick this one. I can easily hear Plant on vocals as well. Great song. A fantastic, heavy Sabbath song with psychedelic overtones to a solid Sabbath dread vibe is Megalomania off the Sabotage album. Please give this a listen!

Would've been cool to see Iommi and Plant do something. Probably would have been a jazzier thing but I never minded that in Iommi's playing.

It's about an extreme acid/mushroom trip loved by Psychonauts hence the name Supernaut.

Zeppelin had some hard rock goin’ on, but honestly, the hardest shit going down at that time was from Black Sabbath….It was just on the edge of what I could deal with…… For all practical purposes, this was the first metal.

Yes that entire suite off the first album is: A Bit of Finger/Sleeping Village/Warning. It is volcanic and must be heard by modern reactors, they will really know what Iommi is all about after experiencing it. 🎵🎸🎶

Hey, Dude! Great reaction video. Most of the lyrics were written by bassist Terry 'Geezer' Butler and are well worth checking out. Super smart and phylisofical. We did a lot of Sabbath tunes while doing the club scene and their sound is IMPOSSIBLE to recreate. Black Sabbath was a once in a lifetime explosion of music and creativity, they really had something there.

Great reaction to an amazing song, Sabbath really were GOAT'S. The instrument you are asking about is called a Guiro and it is a block (usually wooden) with ridges on it and you rub a stick along it to make rhe sound.

I was introduced to a lot of these bands by my older brother. During my teens I was told by adults this was devil music. I attended a church that wanted us to bring certain albums and books that were thought to linked to the devil to burn. I went home and told my mom and dad they were not having it told me I couldn’t go back I wasn’t even if they had agreed with the church. I thank my parents for giving me and my siblings the freedom of listening to different genres of music. They even let me go to a my first concert at 15 with a friend it was Cheap Trick . I was able to see Ozzy twice. Check out Miracle Man by Ozzy. Its a banger. In this song, Ozzy ridicules televangelist (and longtime foe) Jimmy Swaggart, referring to him as "Jimmy Sinner." The song was written by Osbourne, his guitarist Zakk Wylde, and his bass player Bob Daisley. Daisley, who wrote the lyric, originally mentioned Swaggart by name, but decided it would be more effective to keep it nonspecific. So this is what teenagers had to deal with. If you listened to this you are worshiping the devil.

I think he broke Bill Ward's kit playing it when Zep came to Sabbath to try and sign them on to Swan Song.

Tony Iommi was very good friends with John Bonham. He was in Bonham's wedding party and lived close to one another. There is a legendary jam session with members of both bands that was recorded but has not seen the light of day.

The Vol. 4 album in my opinion is Sabbath's best work. Supernaut by far is my favorite, but all the songs on this album is top notch. It's where my R&R teeth were cut. Geezer Butler was responsible for most if not all the music on this album if I'm mistaken.

This is heavy - reminds me of another song that Id like to see you react to... "Summertime Blues" by Blue Cheer. Without a doubt the heaviest rock song of that era and possibly ever.

The reason why Bill Ward isn't on the new album, was the same reason why he didn't do Black Sabbath's final tour. In an interview he said "I physically can't play like I used to do"

I'm hoping you trip out on a more recent Black Sabbath video of an old song "The Wizard" rehearsal video - although minus the great Bill Ward so some purests will balk - however the drumming is excellent and you get to see the rest of the guys perform live alone. Ozzy on the harmonica is aweSOME and to watch Geezer and his BADDDD black string bass along with Toni Iommi still killing it hard as ever!!! Plus Salvo you need to hear a few newer tracks like God is dead!!!

i remember when i was a roadie for sabbath way back when, i remember ozzy came up to me while he was high as a kite, and said " 'ere, you want some coke" i was like "fuck it, yeah go on then" so he walks off and comes back a minute later and hands me a bag with a kilo of cocaine saying "if you want more, just say so, ive got cocaine everywhere, it just keeps appearing out of nowhere" fucking mad lad

@@remedy9648 yeah, so when we were touring and we reached a border checkpoint, this dog starts going crazy near my bag where the coke was, i was about a half second from passing out from fear, and then out of nowhere another guard sticks his head out the hut/booth/thing and yells over "hey, just leave them, thats black sabbaths crew and the bands already gone through" and he pulls the dog away and lets us on our way, first thing i did at the first stop was go into the gas station bathroom and puke my guts up, id never been so afraid in my life

Im not sure what they call it but the sound you hearing is a tube like instrument with ridges on its sides like a wash board When you rub a stick on it you get that sound. You hear it in Latin Music

Great song and album but for my tastes "A Bit of Finger / Sleeping Village / Warning" was just the best; so many textures (vocals, guitar bass, drums, everything) and really showcased the raw talent of everybody in the band; but it's a long one. Thanks for the video.

New subscriber here...but unfortunately don't have much to add. I have read that the band was in Los Angeles to record it and cocaine was a big deal for the band at the time. They were transitioning to huge stardom at this point and it's some of their best. The next album "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" is considered their very best of the original Sabbath band. I would recommend "Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath, Sabra Cadabra, and Spiral Architect...all recorded in 1973 however released in early '74.

Heavy song off this album, but Under the sun has to be one of the heaviest riffs Iommi ever conjured up. This is probably my favourite Sabbath album, Sabotage and Master of reality close seconds. Check out Symptom of the universe too. Surprised Bonham didn’t pick that song as his favourite, it’s practically a drum solo encircled by musical notes.

With all the problems Black Sabbath was having with their record label Robert Plant wanted to sign Black Sabbath to Zeppelin's Swan Song record label (which Sabbath should have done) but Ozzy basically said no way..
@w.geoffreyspaulding6588
@w.geoffreyspaulding6588 2 года назад
Ozzy was right on that. Robert and Jimmy loved to find artists to be on their label, but NOBODY wanted t o take the time necessary to promote bands and artists that were signed. Other than Bad Company, whom Peter Grant managed, the artists signed by Swan Song got basically no promoting…..,Grant was strung out on smack but wouldn’t delegate authority to anyone else to manage the office in England. It was really a “vanity” label for Zeppelin. I’m not criticizing the band members. It wasn’t up to them to manage a record label. They were otherwise engaged. But no one oversaw it or gave permission to those hired to do so to make decisions. Swan Song lost several mammoth opportunities to sign bands that went on to be huge because of its dysfunction at the highest level. I believe Aerosmith was one, but could be wrong on that.

Near enough every Iommi riff is a killer riff. His best ones are on a completely different level. The guy was a fountain of riffs and didn’t let up till the more recent 13 album where they all seemed more generic and phoned in. Tony’s thought was tuning down would give Ozzy an easier time on vocals. Then Ozzy decided to sing higher instead. Back when Ozzy could actually sing. His lifestyle killed the voice he once had.
