Doolset lyrics is the best translation for their lyrics. It explains the Korean references and wordplay in the songs. The songs with the Music Videos have the correct and right translation. But for any reference and the songs without MV you can go with Doolset.

Meg is right about the music videos and Doolset is the best for lyrics translation. but I wanted to add that for color coded videos for the songs who dont have MVs when you react to them I recommend these 3 channels they tend to be more on the accurate side. Zaty farhani, af taehyung and lynn eksonyeondan. When watching the cyphers from cypher 1 through 3 use the lyrics from this channel called eleven ( they have cultural references in the description box) anf for cypher 4 you will find it on af taehyung. Steer clear from jaeguchi and lemoring. Also if you are interested I can send you a list of links lyrics with their entire discography including their solo projects let me know if that would interest you

FYI: Their RU-vid channel has English subtitles with all new videos but are still working on old ones. Bangtan Subs is a good channel to watch their old videos with English subtitles. (The playlist layout is well done. It's in old to new order.) They have a lot of behind the scenes and vlog like content there. They do/ do lives on RU-vid but also on their Vlive channel. It's an app you can download.

Lyrics are why I am Army. Lyrics are the most important thing to me! And their lyrics are deep, poetic, and meaningful. 💜 I love that you appreciate that aspect of their art. Some reactors choose to react to the lyrics first and then the MV or vice versa so they can give equal attention to both. Most color coded lyric videos so not have the best translations. There is a really good online source ...Doolset, maybe? Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong. There are some songs that I would also recommend watching the explanation by a Korean done by DKDKTV, just because there are so many cultural references, or word play dependent on the Korean language, that a direct translation no matter how good can't fully convey the meaning. Some examples of that would be Ugh, Ddaeng, and Bapsae.
@Umla80

was just about to write that Doolset is really good and i agree with you their lyrics and message is a major part of why i am ARMY. Linking the site at the end, i also like the youtube channel DIAL 6137 if you want to read the lyrics and hear the music at same time. (i would stay away from the color coded lyric videos because they are often made by users that try and profit of BTS and also churn them out as fast as a song is dropped so the translations can be dodgy). doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com/bts-albums/

Hi! I made some lyric videos of the new songs from the boys. I used translation from doolsetbangtan, sometimes mixed it with genius lyrics or good translations by some twt accounts like @bts_trans with my little bit Korean knowledge. I found really good translation for UGH from twt account named Colin, I mixed it with doolset and genius. I personally like the UGH translation from Colin since it gives better understanding for non Korean speakers. Maybe if you wanna try to check my lyric video for UGH, here's the link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Jqli6-FzlPw.html I also wanna recommend color coded lyrics channel *af taehyung,* he/she used doolset translation. Also *Zaty Farhani* has very good translation too. I think it's safe for him to react from those 2 channels :)

i suggest turning to fan translators for lyrics! the fan translators put in a lot of really hard work to not only translate the lyrics themselves, but give context for them as well. this is super helpful especially with the rapline because so many of bts' lyrics include references to literature, current events, and korean culture. i think that https: // doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com/ has been one of the most helpful resources personally because those annotations are included in the lyric translations themselves 🤗

Hi, thank you for your open mindedness, I really appreciate that. I would like to recommend you watch explained videos by DKDKTV and Bookish theories. They both create very well researched content and use credible sources. I often find that it's not enough to read lyrics when they're translated from another language because so much gets lost in translation. I do think this Doolset website is amazing because they do provide detailed explanations about certain phrases, but I find that text can be misunderstood and I like the way "DKDKTV" explain the lyrics from a Korean's perspective incorporating cultural nuances and historical references; and the way "Bookish theories" explains the incredible depths of BTS's lyrics in relation to literature, art, and so much more.

I love xCeleste and this video, but the only thing that is missing is their insight on « Albums » in general They’ve always emphasize the importance of albums. If you listen to them, you would notice the natural flow. They always put the songs in a particular spot, which also means that you have to listen to the full album in the correct order (from track 1 to last). It really is a whole another experience (while the songs are already great on their own). Plus, they do have most of the times an Intro, Interlude, Skit or Outro, as they are very much influenced by hiphop. Also, Namjoon (RM) mentioned this during an awards show last year : nowadays, people aren’t really interested in physical albums as they were before. We consume music like instant foods (as he said).. I mean, people do tend to listen to music on spotify/radio/youtube/etc but less and less people buy physical albums now.. and his saying really struck out to me since then ! They also put a lot of emphasis on the album’s design or cover. Nothing is purely aesthetic, they do have a meaning

As many have said: Doolset to read translations, official MV's have accurate translations but after it is still worth checking out doolset or DKDKTV for cultural references and wordplay etc. I love seeing reactions to DKDKTV they are two korean guys who does a great job making easy to watch videos explaining and breaking down the lyrics and MV's but always react to the songs before watching DKDKTV. The color coded lyric videos are fan made and often made in a hurry when new songs comes out and often not the best translations but still good enough if you keep that in mind and especially if you check out DKDKTV after or Doolset if there arent a DKDKTV video. The best thing with color coded lyrics is that you see who sings what(sometimes a bit wrong too but not often). Bangtan Subs have put subtitles to some of the oldest MV's and other stuff on BTS channels that doesn't have any subtitles there so go to that channel and search for stuff if it doesn't have eng CC. Follow on You Tube: *BANGTANTV* - official channel *BIG HIT LABELS* -official channel *Bangtan Subs* - Translates/puts subtitles on different BTS stuff *DKDKTV* - explains some of BTS lyrics and MV's and cultural references and wordplay etc. Also if you watch something and it says auto generated subtitles when you press the CC button it means there are no eng subs and it's not translating, it is just coming up with english words out of what the korean sounds like and are 100% wrong.

I've always listened to music for the lyrics, that's the most important part for me, and that's why BTS are my favorite artists... As someone with severe depression and social anxiety, their songs, their content, their message.. help me a lot every day...I've never had this connection with other artists, all their songs are a journey of self-discovery, self-love, and development as a person and as a society. Plus I'm an illustrator, so I rly love all their references and symbolisms in lyrics and visuals, they are just amazing, most of their songs have multiple meanings: 1- a catchy song with a ''simple'' relatable topic (for example a break up); 2- a social or psychological aspect (that you catch up knowing the metaphores and references used); 3- Something personal to them as a group or as individuals (in solo songs) (We find out this through them in vlives mostly) 4- Is related to their fictional story (they have a fictional story, with them as characters, going through some of their MVs, some songs, a webtoon, short clips, notes in the albums and 2 books) is a story about friendship with topics like drugs, suicide, power abuse, child abused, violence, etc. with a little bit of fantasy (time traveling) As an illustrator, this kind of creativity and storytelling is just beautiful, how they can fit so many things in one song, and how they tell an entire story through their album and album series, they and their team are just amazing

bts’s music videos all have english subs but for b sides I recommend either doolset (doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com) or muish (muish.wordpress.com) as lyric videos on youtube tend to be haphazard in their translation and are mainly doing it for views rather than actual dedicated fan translations. newer videos on their youtube channel will have english subtitles but for older ones I recommend the channel bangtan subs (ru-vid.com), they also have a website with other translations and videos that get taken down due to copyright. each time bts releases an album, rm does a livestream on an app called v live where he breaks down the process of making the album and the ideas behind it. other member also do this when they release solo work but he’s the one who does it when it’s a bts album. they do other livestreams on there as well, sometimes just to chat with fans when they’re bored, for a birthday or, back when concerts were a thing, after a concert and there’s various reality/game shows (kind of, I’m not sure what the correct term would be) that they have on there as well. this is just if you’re interested though bc although most of it is free, I wouldn’t react to it on here as it usually gets taken down by nave (the company that owns v live).

Hi, here is one 58 years old who started at 10 with Suzy Quatro and Deep Purple, went trough heavy rock, Pink Floyd, disco, punk, folk, classic... I mean everything what was catchy and could make me move and dance... And I'm with BTS since 2015 but actually started to love them at 2016 after "Save me"... I want to breathe, I hate this night I want to wake up, I hate this dream I'm trapped inside of myself and I'm dead Don't wanna be lonely Just wanna be yours Why is it so dark where you're not here It's dangerous how wrecked I am Save me because I can't get a grip on myself Listen to my heartbeat It calls you whenever it wants to Because within this pitch black darkness You are shining so brightly Give me your hand Save me save me I need your love before I fall, fall Give me your hand save me save me I need your love before I fall, fall Give me your hand save me save me Give me your hand save me save me Save me, save me Today the moon shines brighter on the blank spot in my memories It swallowed me, this lunatic, please save me tonight (Please save me tonight, please save me tonight) Within this childish madness you will save me tonight I knew that your salvation Is a part of my life and the only helping hand that will embrace my pain The best of me, you're the only thing I have Please raise your voice so that I can laugh again Play on Listen to my heartbeat, it calls you whenever it wants to Because within this pitch black darkness, you are shining so brightly Give me your hand save me save me I need your love before I fall, fall Give me your hand save me save me I need your love before I fall, fall Give me your hand save me save me Give me your hand save me save me Thank you for letting me be me For helping me fly For giving me wings For straightening me out For waking me from being suffocated For waking me from a dream which was all I was living in When I think of you the sun comes out So I gave my sadness to the dog (Thank you. For being 'us') Give me your hand save me save me I need your love before I fall, fall Give me your hand save me save me I need your love before I fall, fall

To understand their songs deeper, I definitely recommend *DKDKTV* . They have a series called "K-pop Explained by a Korean", where they tackle the lyrics of K-pop songs and talk about not just the lyrics, but the nuances, the cultural meanings, and more behind the lyrics. It's a much deeper dive into their lyrics so it's very helpful especially for foreigners to understand what BTS is trying to say. I find that normal eng lyrics videos for BTS songs don't always work cause either it goes too fast or they don't explain the meaning of the lyrics well so DKDKTV def helps. (Also, Danny and David are HILARIOUS)

For lyrics and translations, look to a site from muish (muish's ramblings) and doolset. Both are on wordpress. I think it'll flag my comment as spam if I leave links, so just search "muish wordpress" and "doolsetbangtan wordpress" in google. These are probably the best lyric translation sites. Be VERY careful of lyric videos. Videos by Jaeguchi, Lemoring, and zaty fahrani are all incredibly inaccurate (they're NOT even Korean speakers). These three use papago online translation and also have been caught avoiding copyright strikes to profit from artists. Look to others if you are wanting to have lyric videos. Moonlight 52 Hz is new, but is a credible lyric translation site. Lynn Eksonyeondan also has great lyric video translations (of their mostly older stuff; definitely use their site for rapline's songs if possible).

Somehow most of the videos you see from compilations is from the boys live broadcast in Vlive app. So after the live then only the full translation will come out either realtime by fans or by the editors of the company themselves. There are also fans who made threads on twitter to translate the live broadcast to others realtime..most of us would follow Korean ARMYs twitter that always does translation in that manner. Also like others said, you can also go to RU-vid channel called 'Bangtan Subs'. That channel was among the first teams that do translation for all BTS videos and good explanation of the boys words alongside the subtitles. Thank you for diving in to BTS as individuals and their musics. Hope you enjoy the journey and Borahae💜💜💜

Many translations are auto-created so they’re not very good. Some people have recommendations below about the best translators. Remember that some concepts don’t translate literally (like “it’s raining cats and dogs”) would not mean something to many non-English speakers. These guys are such poets and maybe because they’re like brothers now, aren’t afraid to show their emotions, cry, or sit with an arm around another member, just to watch tv. American men shy away from touching other men. I like that they’re so honest with each other and with us. You’re doing great. I subscribed. Good luck!

For the old music videos, there will be no translations by bighit because translation just started recently. So its either you watch the mv first for the old MVs then watch lyrics videos for translations.... for recent mvs, the best way is just to see the captions. Its the correct translations. Also lyrics is one thing, but the meaning of the music video is another. BTS has a lot of theories in their music videos. Such as i need you, run, forever young, spring day, fake love, etc. Everything from the beginning. So i suggest to watch it in order (order of the release as it is connected). And to understand more about the music videos, watch the ‘mv explained’. Some videos of the explanation is either at xceleste, dkdktv or other mvs

As an army, i usually refers to normal lyric video in youtube, but also referring to DKDKTV explanation (if there's any) and ALWAYS read up Doolset lyrics to know deeper. If my not mistaken Genius Lyrics is also fine as there are many korean contributors who filled in for any cultural/ language reference in the lyrics. But Doolset is the most trustable ones for armys. I also suggest you react to their variety shows contents (non-music contents like their funny videos compilation to know more about each members separately) . Be aware that Bangtan TV doesn't always have English Subs so if you go to Bangtan Subs if you can't find the subs in TV you will probably find it in TV. Also just an fyi there was always 7 members but they hid V (Kim Taehyung) because they were afraid that someone else would try to sign him before they were able to debut thus be able to sign them. When they didn't have the money they recorded in a garage and also did one song with Warren G and used his studio with his blessing. After they started doing concerts they often record in living areas of hotel rooms of staff that have larger studio rooms. They also set up their own studio in their room to do lyrics and beats. I find it upbuilding that they always believe in being helpful in their lyrics. In their lyrics I think RM does the English lyrics at the bottom of the MV but if you want to know about other songs Doolset is the best lyrics but I often look at several Eng. subs to make sure I get the right meaning. Starting at "We Are Bulletproof pt. 1 their 1st trailer but for some reason it did not come out until MNET made a documentary on them in 2015. So then their first mv w/o cc in Eng. was No More Dream their official debut happened on 6/13 when they took a spot of a group that did a no show. "We Are Bulletproof pt. 2" starts the ccs in English and this is the introduction MV after that N.O. is considered their first MV and it is also cc as are all the videos after this. But be sure to look at the official Big Hit Ent MVs so their 2nd MV is Boy In Love this was not liked by feminist but as an older woman I thought it was very indicative of what boys think about at this age so I was like ... please. As you can see the lyrics change for the next song "Just One Day" its still about young love but from a different point of view. If you want to see the rest of the mvs you should go to the article This BTS Music Video Timeline (my comments were too long). Here is the link stylecaster.com/bts-music-video-timeline/

The album breakdowns done by RM is on the app called Vlive. He does it after the release of every album. It's like hours longs and he talks about behind the scenes. For music videos and some other songs just turn on captions and then you can look for in depth breakdowns by DKDKTV. For rest of the songs you may have to rely on doolset bangtan. It's has some of the best translations. So far on youtube we really dont have satisfactory lyric breakdowns.

For me as a fan, I follow a lot of different fan translators on Twitter (let me know if you want me to list them!). Usually after a new album releases, they post their translations then. But not many of them have a central place for their lyric translations since they also translate so many other BTS contents too. So along with reading the CC English translations provided in BTS's music videos, you could also use these websites below. These are especially useful when going through whole albums (which I highly recommend). - Doolset: doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com/ - Bangtan Subs: www.bangtansubs.com/lyrics - Muish (This person puts a lot of context into their translations that would help any fan get a fuller picture of the songs for deeper reflection & contemplation.): muish.wordpress.com/bts-directory-of-ramblings - Genius English Translations (Honestly, not a bad place to find general translations and identifies which member sings which part.): genius.com/artists/Genius-english-translations If you do decide to use any color-coded lyric videos that you see on RU-vid, just be warned that they aren't always accurate. The most important thing to note about lyric translations is that there is no perfect translation per se. Translating from one language to another is not easy, especially when there's not a similar word for something in another language. That's why I prefer to read different translations to get the overall feel of the lyrics in a song and in case there's anything I may have missed from one person's translation/interpretation. The members have done many interviews and live streams talking about the behind the scenes of their albums, so there's plenty to learn if you want to know more. (Example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Tt9x61AL50E.html) If you have questions on where to find any of those contents, just ask! Also you may have heard by now, but BTS are coming out with a new album called "BE" on November 20th! It's an album they've created during quarantine this year and they've been even more involved creatively (like visual concepts, music video ideas etc.) compared to previous releases. I hope you can enjoy it with us! Here's a link to presave the album if you're interested: t.co/NwKQ0N03yu Thanks for reading my long comment and thank you for the videos!

All of their official music videos have closed captions, so that is a great place to start. For songs that don’t have official music videos the best places to get good translations are @doyou_bangtan, @doolsetbangtan on Twitter as well as the Bangtan Trans team who have a Twitter (@BTS_Trans), a RU-vid channel (Bangtan Subs) and a blog where they archive all of BTS’ lyrics and also subtitle other content. You can easily find a ton of lyrics videos on RU-vid that are pretty popular among reactors because they’re easily accessible. Those videos aren’t bad but they tend to have some inaccuracies and miss a lot of the more in-depth nuances/cultural context in the lyrics so if you use those it’s best to also look at the text translations from those I listed above so you don’t miss anything. Lastly, another good resource is the BTS Explained By A Korean series by DKDKTV on RU-vid, they don’t have every song but the ones they do have are a really amazing breakdown of the context and genius wordplay the boys use. Actually it would be GREAT to see you react to those!!

What I would recommend you is the channel Dkdktv. They explain a lot of the lyrics in detail and tell us about the references to Korean history and so on. As to the lyrics in music videos, the new music videos have English captions to their MVs but the older ones don't have them so you need to search them up. I like to watch your videos a lot and I appreciate your opinion :)

Few things 1. I think there is just 1 more video you should check out before you dive in and it's another long one. But it's the introduction to the 7 members. It contains some outdated info (made in 2017) but it's a great starting point for anyone getting into the group because knowing the individuals within the group will help you understand some of the decisions they make as well in their music. 2. For SOME songs, there are explanation videos. You won't even have to ask. When you react to the song, Army will tell you where you can find the explanation. But for the others, doolset Bangtan is the best option.

Thanks, is it Geoff or Jeff? I am also digging into more information about them, their history and their relationship with one another, which is very interesting. You don't have to like the music to admire the artists and their contribution. Kpop is definitely not my thing, but I find myself more and more intrigued by them as individuals, and as a team. They are incredibly hardworking, extremely supportive of one another and respectful of their fans. That's a damn good start from where I'm sitting!

For a long time I used to listen to foreign songs so I can just enjoy the music without getting distracted by the lyrics. Cuz too many lyrics are just about love and chasing girls or boys, or something very basic and empty. So I either ignore them or just treat them as just a sound. Many old songs have really great lyrics though, but new songs are more either very commercial so they can't be too specific or just sloppy work cuz no one cares. Till BTS. The lyrics, especially namjoon's writing is so beautiful like poems. Their music is great, but there are many other great music too, really set them different, for me is the lyrics. I even start leaning korean just so I can understand the lyrics completely while I'm listening. That's how inspiring they are lol I have to learning a whole freaking language

Pretty much all of the music videos have CC available for lyrics. When checking out B-sides/ unofficial lyric videos sometimes aren’t always accurate because the uploader of the video wanted to put it out as quickly as possible. Most of the time though after the song has been out for a while they’ll add the correct lyrics to CC.

Not only their YT channel, but they also have VLive broadcasts ( www.vlive.com ) when they want to communicate with ARMY about things they are going through and what they've been up to. I believeTaehyung (V) was on a VLive when he played that Spring Day demo at 6:25, but I don't know the exact video link. I don't think they've been on there as much lately, more so on their other platform, weverse.com.

If you're going to watch RU-vid videos from them ( they just started adding subtitles to their non music videos) but "Bangtan Subs" on RU-vid is a good one. if you're looking for actual song lyrics, Doolset is the best. They give accurate lyrics and give explanations and context when the members use Korean wordplays, idioms, etc.

Once you've fully understood and can differentiate the members, you could even get into Bangtan Universe (it's basically the storyline that runs through most of their music videos)! There's a lot of content you'd need to watch in order to fully understand it so it might even get a bit overwhelming. Of course, you don't have to since it can get really confusing but xCeleste even has some summaries and explanations on what goes on.

Doolset is honestly the only translation outside directly bighit that i would trust. Also some songs that are referencing korean culture, DKDKTV have some good explanation videos. Songs like Spring Day, Baepsae, Ugh, Ddaeng should always be watched with a video letting you know more in depth. Especially focus on Spring Day and Ddaeng it is a disservice to the songs to not listen to the explanation videos.

I know I'm late but Doolset has the most accurate lyrics! They explain the lyrics and the wordplay they use. BTS and especially the rappers are known for their different and complex wordplay and Doolset explains it very accurately. I recommend that. For some of the songs there are video explanations too. For example Ddaeng is explained by DKDKTV . Us armys say this to a lot of reactors but they tend to either forget or not notice. Don't search BTS lyrics bcoz the lyric translation videos like Lemoring and Jaeguchi are very messy and wrong. If you really have to, maybe AFTAEHYUNG and KPOP.VINE lyrics are, not the best, but better that the first ones. Again, You may have already known this. Just wanted to comment bcoz I like your reactions!

about translations: for a lot of the songs that don't have a MV with subtitles you'll find fan made lyric videos, but don't rely on those. For a better option you can check @doolsetbangtan on twitter or the blog doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com/ That's the best place for translations because it goes in-depth and even explain the word play they use in a big part of their songs, with sometimes double and triple entendre.
