Great reaction ma'am First I'd like to say I don't know why but the first time I saw you I had a feeling that you were from the home town of James Brown. My family is from Thompson George, which as you know is only a Hop, skip, and jump from Augusta Georgia. They moved to Canton Georgia shortly before I was born, I still get to Augusta every once in a while. Maybe I'll get to meet you sometimes. Ok back to Courtney, you hit the nail on the head when you said Courtney is unique. It's absolutely amazing how she can take a song we've heard so many times and make it completely different from what we know, and make It sound as if it's the first time you've heard it. I guess it is the first, the first time done the Courtney Hadwin way. As a little girl she got interested in the great artist such as Tina Turner, James Brown, Otis Redding, Janis Joplin, Etta James, and her favorite Little Richard. I mean she was listening to these artist when she was ten years old, that's unheard of for a kid in her time period. She got made fun of at school because of the way she sang and danced. Even when she was on AGT she got a lot of hateful comments then, and from adults. Some of the comments I read would make my heart hurt for her. She never let those comments get her down, and stuck to being herself and doing it her way. When you listen to artist such as her idols you learn what soul is about. But doing it right is another thing, Courtney has worked so hard to be able to control her vocal skills. She goes through her vocal exercises every day and even does them while she's running in place. That's so she doesn't get winded while she's preforming. It takes a lot to do what Courtney does with her vocals, I guess a lot of artist aren't willing to put the work in to do it, that's why we don't hear it from them. When she hears a song I believe she already has a picture in her mind on how to do it her way. She told Howie that she's creating a new style of music, she's taking a little bit of all those great artist and molding them into one. One more thing before I shut up, Courtney wants her first album to be perfect, you get a first once. She wants to be known for her songs and perfection doesn't happen fast. Can't wait to see your next Courtney reaction, we truly appreciate your reactions.
I want you to know how much joy you bring to Courtney fans with you reactions. We love your appreciation and recognition of how great any talent is, especially Courtney's. It's pretty obvious to me you've got some background or just realize what it takes to be great in music. As for those blocks you've been dealing with and 2 strikes against you, I hope you can navigate through it all. As far as I can tell the filters do seem to be the ticket to getting them through. But I'm only guessing and would hate to see you get 3 strikes. We want your kind of reactions to relive what fans found on their own. Reactions are a way of sharing and enjoying these videos with others. Courtney was just turned 16 when she recorded this cover shortly after she had her home recording studio completed in her attic/loft. She was just learning how to use her recording studio. Pretty good quality for a beginner. She was also just a novice guitarist, only playing for maybe 6 or 9 months from the 1st time she picked up a guitar. For a beginner to be able to finger pick or just play and sing at the same time is nothing short of insane talent wise. I know many guitarist/singers who said it took a while to be able to do that confidently as Courtney shows here. I've been playing guitar 50+ years and have made a few attempts as a non singer and it's ain't easy to sing and play, but to finger pick as a beginner and sing,... now that is tough. I doubt there's nothing she can't do when she chooses to. I'm going to share this older video with you, not to react to, but only to watch it for yourself so you can here some of her original songs Courtney was working on along with her newly released Xmas song she recorded for Spotify 2 Christmas's ago with her producer Kevin Bowe who happens to have worked with some of the best artists around. kevinbowe.com/credits/ You being a true fan of Courtney, I wanted to point you towards some of her work. It's a live chat she had where she snuck in about 5 or 6 original songs early on playing in the background without saying a word at 1st. It was her singing along with her own songs that no one noticed until a few minutes in when people watching realized it was her voice. She did mention she doubted the songs would be on her upcoming album, but we all got a chance to hear what may be in store for her us later. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NFHqhUbsNwU.html&ab_channel=CourtneyHadwinSuperfans And here's a most recent video just captured the other day while she was performing at a Karaoke night while on vacation in Turkey. It's another Tina Turner cover of "Proud Mary" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pB1QqCM_h3o.html&ab_channel=MariusKoerenzig This one shouldn't be a problem reacting to and getting blocked, as it was recorded by people from the bar I think. It is her having some fun in front of a small crowd on Karaoke night. But what a performance. Most of us heard her do a very short clip of this song in Las Vegas while with AGT after that 2018 season ended on some videos captured by a few fans who were lucky enough to see her live. We've been hoping she would do the whole song ever since and here it is. Thank you for these reactions. They're great. Keep them coming. There's still plenty of other great videos to react too with no worries of dealing with RU-vid blocks. One of her best ones and singing performances ever is "Love Hurts" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bqZjDRXyxOo.html It's a cover by a singer named Miss Li (Linda Karlsson) from Sweden who Courtney was sent to, to help her along, after she was signed by her label after AGT. Miss Li and her got along very well and she asked Courtney to lay down a vocal track on one of her songs (Love Hurts). Which Courtney did in one take and it is a doozy. I mean a real doozy. She was still only 14 years of age. Insane how good this turned out, especially in one take. The audio is sub par because it's coming out of her laptop speakers into her cell phone while recording her live chat on Instagram, so it's a bit thin sounding, but it does not take away from some of the best singing I think I've ever heard. Enjoy.
@@TheMonarchgroup I should thank you for saying that. It was way longer than I started out to make it. Which seems to happen with me a lot. There's just too much to talk about Courtney for those who seem interested or to clear the air and correct some misunderstandings when rumors start getting wings. So thanks for being too kind. I know I ramble on. 😁
Hey Lady Luck. Really love your Courtney reactions. You are absolutely correct that this performance by Courtney is incredible. Courtney is able to make a song completely her own, while at the same time retaining the essence of the original. I don't know of any other artist that can do this and Courtney does it on a regular basis. Her vocal ability is only rivaled by her creativity, which is just off the charts, and is simply unmatched by any other current performer. There is not even a close second. As iconic as this song is, I believe this cover is at least as good as the original. However, since Courtney slowed down the pace and added her own twists, there is no need to make such a comparison. The two versions (original and Courtney's) can stand side by side as two spectacular takes on the same song. I believe Tina Turner would truly love this version as well as being quite proud that someone as gifted and special as Courtney is carrying on her musical legacy to a new generation. This was recorded in Courtney's attic home studio. It was one of Courtney's lock down projects and I think the results are pretty incredible as evidenced by the quality of this release. Courtney has become a one person musical production team. She writes her own music, re-creates those songs first sung by others (as in this case), provides her own accompaniment and produces and edits the release from a studio that she both designed and built. Unbelievable for any artist, yet alone someone who was only 16 at the time of this recording. You mentioned Courtney's guitar skills. Pretty amazing, and even more so because at the time of this song, Courtney had only first picked up a guitar about six months previously. The fancy finger picking she was doing at the beginning is something some never get to after years of playing and Courtney just knocks it out of the park. Courtney can do just about anything and do it better than just about any one else. Anyone that can listen to Courtney and not realize what a musical powerhouse she is on her way to becoming is certainly hearing something different than I am. She is a generational talent and, when all is said and done, will have impacted and re-shaped the music world in only the way others who we now call legends have been able to do. Bert also recommended this in his comment, but I second it. I would love to see you react to Courtney's rendition of 'Love Hurts'. Many consider it to be one of her most spectacular pieces of music. A heads up. Courtney is playing her studio recording of this, so she's not singing it live, but Courtney takes this song to places that other artists can only dream of reaching. It is just a mind boggling masterpiece. Courtney Hadwin - Love Hurts: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bqZjDRXyxOo.html
Great reaction Lady Luck. You have to remember one thing about Courtney, she never does what you expect. She always seems to have an ace in her shirt sleeve that she pulls out and surprises us with. When you expect one, she does the other and vice versa. When she made this song, one must also remember that she barely played guitar for more than 1 year. Which in itself is just achievement. I bet Tina Turner is proud of her version and sits in her home in Switzerland and enjoys
This was Courtney's last self produced song show put on youtube. Since then she has done a lot of shirt 30 second covers of classic rock / 70s songs and some more recent. I wish she had stuck to the self produced full songs like this one. As Simon Cowell said on America's Got Talent : Please God that she comes back to RU-vid Sith full songs playing the guitar even better and does some performing. . Any decent band that pairs up with her will become internationally famous.
Great video! I definitely also think you should do a reaction of Courtney singing Proud Mary on karaoke in Turkey. It’s an incredible performance, and it’s ”just” her singing karaoke in a bar. In my opinion her talent is unmatched when it comes to music! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pB1QqCM_h3o.html
Your reactions are great, LL, and you've gotten a ton of information and suggestions from commenters that I whole-heartedly agree with. Other reactors have been able to use pauses and filters (I especially liked one that had a sparkling star-like overlay) to avoid blocks--better than no reaction video at all. As you have smartly pointed out, Courtney's voice, creativity and stylings are so profoundly different from what is currently popular that her coming album and performances are going to grab attention from the music world. Courtney has been feverishly recording for her album in a British studio for the past couple of months. She is still on the bill to perform at the huge Austrian FM4 Frequency Festival, Friday, August 19. Let's hope these events come to fruition (she's had her share of frustrating cancellations) and get her professional career jumpstarted; I love the description of Courtney in the Festival credits as "unencumbered by decade or genre"!
In my mind, Courtney is not just a singer. She is an old school entertainer. Hendrix, Joplin, Jackson, Mercury, all of those would know her as a peer. Not perfect, by a long shot, but omg, she can own a stage.
She did two singing videos on her birthday at a tiki bar and turkey I suggest both of them one of those proud Mary I can't remember the other name of the other song but it was good too good but those are in Courtney's RU-vid file or Instagram file they should not be blocked whatsoever just a heads up love your reactions take care keep the Courtney stuff coming oh by the way she got a concert coming in August
