She's a gem for sure, so glad I discovered her some time back! I'm slowly making my way through her songs one by one. Though not every song is as impactful as this or some of her other songs, like Human Scramble or Hitogoroshi or that one called Jisatsu shigansha no uta which she sings in the dark almost, and I kind of have a feeling as to why she does that, it's very dark, but as in all dark songs she's done so far there's a glimmer of hope in the form of a flower stubbornly growing among the concrete buildings, a beautiful sunset or similar... She's very good at writing impactful lyrics from real life experiences and she delivers them with passion
she is a person who has surffered a deal of trauma. and she is a nurse and musician who look after many hurting people and many people who have gone far away.
Again, thank you for telling me about her. Although experiencing these things, such as trauma is bad, and shouldn't be wished on anyone. I guess it can also help you find passion, grit, and emotion as well.
One reason I prefer Japanese singing (coming from Babymetal) is that English has diphthongs (combined vowels) while Japanese Vowels are singular and sound much more "pure". English vowel sounds less nice to hear.

there's something special about UPIKO.. her deep voice.. melodies and her singing from full heart.. feels somewhat french
🥰You are exactly where you need to be! All I listen to for the last 8 years is JRock ... Thank you Band Maid for introducing me to the Scene🕊👀Hi from the UK an OG Black Sabbath fan😁
I understood how amazing she was when I listened without knowing the lyrics (The emotion and the voice! Chills!), then I turned on the subtitles and... She broke me ;_;
@@JohnnyReacts1 Your reaction was great and honest even without lyrics, it is the way she expresses emotions through her voice. But lyrics are the essential part of all of her songs. I can recommend my latest discovery: Fight - ファイト - it is like a defining song although that one is a cover, not original, but the emotions are amazing.
Ado is completely different and already a superstar. Upiko is more like a hidden gem. And more bard like than a stage performer with all the meaning in the lyrics.
we Japanese seem to unconsciously think that we can acquire a sense of beauty and ethics by pursuing skills and techniques. in other words, mastering your chosen field is the means to approaching transcendence. it's a journey that never ends.
Yes I love her voice! There's also an english version! If you want another artists with an amazing voice (I think the best in the world right now) is Ado. She's a vocal gymnast! able to go from a scream to a whisper. Check out her live version of Unravel. She does a lot of genres too. She goes from Rock to EDM to Electro Swing. Sometimes all in one song lol.
Her voice is very reminiscent of Keiko Kubota from Kalafina/Fiction Junction, they are both so beautiful to listen to. I made the mistake of playing Upiko's mix in the background whilst working, I stopped working to listen
I love Keiko's voice but I love Kaori's voice more (Hanamori no Oka - a gem of the song ). And Fiction Junction was my favourite - until I listen to Upiko. Now it is close second.
