I have often wondered if I was pronouncing Chris Thile's name right, and I wasn't. Hearing you pronounce it differently caused me to look it up, and I found a video where Chris himself says his last name very clearly,and it is "THEE-ly", where the "TH" is the same as in the word "thumb" (not the old-english word "thee").
