Just for info, he was a British army officer in the Household Cavalry. He was in the armoured vanguard going into Kosovo during the Balkan war. He had to keep his guitar on top of his tank. He was also one of those guys on horses in armour and plumed helmets that ride around Buckingham Palace.

Yeah it is true. He says that he was high whilst at an underground, and spotted a beautiful female with their partner. He says "She and I caught eyes and lived a lifetime in that moment." So the song's pretty much about him stalking someone's girlfriend whilst high lol.

The first ‘my life is brilliant’ he drops was actually a mistake. He came in early. It also happened to be a perfect recording so the engineers left it in. He has one called ‘The Greatest’ about the ‘rona. Absolutely beautiful song

I never saw the ending of the video as being suicide. I always thought it was a cleansing - he'll never be with her, washing himself clean of the memory and starting over. And for the bridge jumping - true story. When I was in junior high school way, way back, we got a seminar and t-shirt "Feet First First Time." Better to break a leg vs. a neck. This song is based on a true story, because as you can see in the video, the lady in question affected him so deeply that he commits suicide, all very sad, but a very beautiful song.

Yes it was true. James has exolained that it was his ex he saw with another man, and as he says, he was high at the time, (F*cking high in the original) and basically he lost it. So he wrote the song. :) And yes he did the jump. And most people see that as suicide, the way he sets his things out. Not cooling off.

Yes, you are right. He had a girlfriend before this song came out, she broke up with him. In interviews the interviewer told him, she probably regrets it. Tried to goad him into make disparaging remarks, but he did not. Such a gentleman.❤

The French have an expression for this kind of thing - coup de foudre. A lightning strike. 'Love at first sight' is a person or character who feels an instant, extreme, and ultimately long-lasting romantic attraction for a stranger upon first seeing that stranger (wikipedia).

I hope that you are not like all the other North American podcasters who doesn't realise that in this song he is committing suicide and not just going for a swim, when people lineup all their worldly goods in a precise straight line it's the red flag that tells you that he us about to end his life
