The Barnes clan got the people of Melbourne Australia through one of (if not) the longest Covid lockdown, by having family concerts from their home on TV most nights.

The whole Barnes family is crazy talented, including Jimmy's brother in law Diesel who married Jane's sister. Another incredible version of this is John Farnham's, also at Carol's by Candlelight. He sings Mary's boy child as well. Really worth a watch. Carol's by Candlelight is a huge production held very Christmas Eve in Melbourne, under the stars at the Myer Music Bowl. The artists donate their performance for charity and it's just spectacular. Thanks for another great reaction guys.❤

David didn't grow up singing with Jimmy in fact he didn't know he was his dad until I think in his 20's when his mum told him. He had a great career in stage performance in New York so made his own way without any leg up from his dad. Jimmy is obviously so proud of his son and has fully embraced him since finding out he had a son. What a superb performance by them both.

Jimmy Barnes sired his first born when he was a young teenager. I guess things panned out like they usually do in this case. But it turned out the son got the music gene but his life story was different and so was his music.

Jimmy had his chest cracked open just before Christmas and is recovering well and is about to go on tour again. Love you guys. Julie from Gympie Queensland Australia. ❤

I wonder if they were both supposed to belt out that last line, but Jimmy went quiet to give David the moment. The way they look at each other and smirk, with Jimmy touching his shoulder and kissing his cheek, to me says 'gotcha' and makes me think it wasn't planned like that.

This song was made popular in the 1960's by Gerry (Marsden)and The Pacemakers from England. David Campbell did not know his father (Jimmy) until later in life. David made a career in the US singing cabaret and appearing in musicals in New York City. And wasn't until David returned to Australia where he finally met Jimmy and now have a close father/son relationship.

David found out about his father when he was 15. I loved David way more. Jimmy took his wife and family back to Scotland for a few years. When he came back David did an album with him to get him out there again. David is a sweet soul and he was famous here so it was son pulling Dad back. Now David co-hosts an early morning TV show and I haven’t heard him sing for some years. I don’t know if he just stopped or I missed it but the Mother that raised him did a hell of a job. Thank you.

Jimmy was only 16 when David was born, and felt he wasn't father material; Jimmy keep up to date with David's progress, but David was 10 when he found out that Jimmy was his dad. Their early relationship was strained, so they started of as friends until the both felt comfortable; their relationship flourished through them supporting each other. Jimmy had never heard David sing, as David was doing stage plays in New York; the first time Jimmy heard David sing, Jimmy tried to hold back his tears due to the impact his singing was having on everybody at David's concert.

David knew Jimmy as a family friend. His grandparents raised him, telling him his mum was his sister. They were both very young when he came along. He didn't know if Jimmy would accept him when he grew up and found out the truth. He had no need to worry. Jimmy was a wild lad in his youth, see the doco working class boy to find out why he was a mess. He has 2 daughters who don't acknowledge him either, their choice. He has a lot of family now.

David initially knew Jimmy as a family friend until his mother revealed to him that the bloke who dropped in to see him every now and then was actually his father. David Campbell had his own successful career as a big band singer in the USA but now is a morning breakfast show host on tv. Yes, if you want to see Jimmy and family sing together, during covid they regularly put out performances from Jimmy's house. Even his wife Jane does some singing.

Jimmy had David when he was 17, and he wasn't ready to be a father. David was adopted by his maternal grandmother (that's why he's Campbell, not Barnes). Jimmy would come to see David and David was told that Jimmy was a friend of the family. It wasn't until he was 10 years old that David was told that Jimmy was actually his father, his sister was actually his mother, and his mother was actually his grandmother.

Even if he wasn’t told till he was 10 that Jimmy was his dad he would have surely asked due to the genetics… I’m pretty sure he was told jimmy was family friend maybe they said “we better tell him who Jimmy really is before he puts two and two together” 😂 Jimmys instagram is full of him singing with his adult kids.. his 14yr old grand daughter Ruby recently sang Flame Trees onstage with her mum Mahalia and rest of family when they filled in for Jimmy when he was sick and she was fantastic Also david is a popular morning TV show host and Jimmy and his wife have often been on their doing some cooking. David also likes to make some jokes at Jimmys expense sometimes and it is very funny
