I'm glad you decided to keep reacting to Nightwish, new subscriber here (to encourage you :) of course..) Their concert in Wacken 2013 is something unique, none of the songs performed in this concert is "forgettable". Floor was in the band for only 10 and a half months at the time, joining the band at a difficult time, when the previous singer could not perform, so many of the 82k fans saw her for the first time in Nightwish. The guy playing keyboards (Tuomas) wrote the song, and lyrics, and the orchestral parts. He's the mastermind behind the band.

That's not a voice, that's the voice of the universe.. Not to mention her presence.. She could easily just stand up there doing totally nothing and the crowd would stare at her hypnotized. She's out of this world.

This was song 13 out of 15, followed by "Song of Myself" and finishing with " Last Ride Of The Day" as you said EPIC!!

Went to 3 of their shows last week which were all absolutely amazing. Finally, hearing this song live was as close to a religious experience as I am ever going to get! 😂

Dude I was at that show. You can't imagine how good it was. I still get goosebumps only thinking about it, after all these years. There were like 50.000 guys in the crowd and they all instantly fell in love with Floor. She took the stage by storm and all the girls in the crowd wanted to be like her. When you think Floor couldn't get more angelic, she'll stun you with a demonic growl that she pulls out of nowhere (case in point: "Face Your Demons, live Amsterdam"). She's also a very humble, funny & down to earth person. If you'd like a short video on our Valkyrie Queen, I can't think of a better one than the Rock Academy Reunion video. Nightwish has become one of my favorite bands

Our Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen (founder, leader, keyboardist, songwriter and the main composer for Nightwish) Tuomas the keyboardist writes about 95% of Nightwish songs, music and lyrics. He also composes the music for the backing track they use. It is recorded in London with musicians from The London Philharmonics. Pip Williams helps with the orchestration. There are two London based choirs too on the backing track, the other one is a children's choir. And of course with a synth you can do a lot. THE NOTE was heard and the spell is cast ,...... We hope, that there is more coming. 🤘😎🤘.

This is symphonic metal at its best and maybe the greatest piece of music ever written.

To add to your blown mind, this was Floor’s first concert as a permanent member of the band. She was asked to finish the tour the band was doing in the US, when their 2nd of now 3 singers left unexpectedly. She had to learn the setlist of these really long songs in 48 hours, & fly to the US to jump in. This was in mid October, 2012. Floor has a 5 octave range, they don’t scream much, but she BELTS, I just saw her post a 15 second belt from their current tour in North America. She also can growl with the guys. Best example of that is “Yours is an Empty Hope”, “Song of Myself , Romanticide, & 7 Days to the Wolves”, are are varied range of what they do. Enjoy the ride!

Floor Jansen is one of the most powerful, but even more amazing, the most VERSATILE female voices in the world. Angelic, yes. Also, operatic.also metal growls…also tender…..and her stage presence…i don’t think any other current female can match it…..She’s over 6 feet first of all and is so charismatic. Don’t know if you’ve watched live Freddie Mercury……I do know you’ve watched Robert Plant live….but not in his prime…….but as far as charisma, she’s right up there with those icons….the best of the best.

And it's all due to Tuomas the keyboardist that writes and composes 90% of the music with the help of exceptional other 5 musicians. They are a family and you can read their innocence on their faces. Apparently, the mix of metal and classical singing style was originally almost an accident. The original band members (only Tuomas and Emppu are still left and in 2013 also Jukka) grew up in Kitee, which is a small place in Eastern Finland. Four guys were starting a band and wanted someone who knew how to sing. Tuomas’ mum was Tarja’s piano teacher or something like that and he had heard she could sing, but no one had told him she studied to become an opera singer. I love this song as both Tarja and Floor version. I had the studio version with Tarja on a playlist I made for childbirth, but didn’t use for reasons.

The orchestration on this a song is a real orchestra, also the choirs. They use London Filharmonic Orchestra quite often. Tuomas (the keyboardist who's behind the most of the composing and songwriting) isnt called "metal Mozart" for nothing.

On many songs, including this one, Nightwish has real orchestra instruments and choirs prerecorded on a backing track. This adds to the epic huge sound and movie soundtrack quality of their music. Tuomas (keys) is the main composer of the music and lyrics for Nightwish. Tuomas is a big fan of movie soundtracks and uses some of the techniques in his compositions. 3rd to the last song of the set. Symphonic metal usually has elements of an Orchestra and maybe some Classical or Operetic vocals but.. yes there are growls used in this style of music and Nightwish has a bit too. Like Floor growls a little on Ghost River and even more on Yours is an empty hope. The Keyboard player is pretty much the leader Tuomas and he writes pretty much 95% of Music and Lyrics and is nicknamed Metal Mozard. He is a Poet and i believe an Empath like Floor due to the amount of emotions and feelings he places in his music. Thank you for your reaction.

Jeps - you are on track - and don't worry - you have only scratched the surface of Nightwish's and Floor's capabilities 😁. Not kidding, we are talking 10 % at most in both songs!! At Wacken 2013, Floor was only doing old songs, not written to her incredible voice and techniques - but she certainly made all the old songs her own (she does that with everthing she covers). When Floor joined Nightwish, 10 month before this legendary concert, as a temporary stand-in - all in the band including Floor - knew that this was the match made in heaven, so during 2013, they all worked on making her the new front - she signed in june 2013 and it became public in October 2013, 2 months after the Wacken 2013 concert. Tuomas the composer of 95% of all the songs, realized that he no longer had any kind of limitations in his writing - therefore all the new songs are written to Floor's voice - and there are some pretty incredible songs ahead of you 🤘 Wembley 2015 Tampere 2015 Buenos Aires 2018 Are the next concerts, and you will be able to experience the evolution in the music and songs - including the old songs, where they have let Floor 'adjust' and interpret in her own way. When you start to dive into the lyrics and composing as well - you will find the reason to why Tuomas are known as the "Metal Mozart". He is literally the modern Mozart - and the others are just as unique in their way to enhance his songs - including Floor of course. Exciting from start to finish, it's a great achievement to create such a long long song so captivating. Performance of course couldn't be better,the band at it's best. It's definitely their magnum opus although Poet and the pendulum comes very close. Two timeless MONUMENTS. She's a phenomenon.

Together they have a daughter. ( Freja ) Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6). Re-singing style ranges from opera to screams and grunts. She usually sings in English, in addition she has also sung songs in Dutch, German, Spanish, Finnish, Latin, Italian and Swedish. Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016. From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. To understand Nightwish..its like Opera and Heavy got a Baby. Well, those changes of tunes are the spirit of Nightwish. They are telling a Story and Tuomas Holopainen is Mozart reborn for us in Europe.

After watching your Led Zepp reactions and now Nightwish I decided to sub with you. I'm a sucker for reaction vids and I have to say that I think you are very good at this. You seem very natural and authentic and have that ability to speak to your audience as though we are just sitting in your living room with you - really quite a gift. Also, no such thing as too much Nightwish lol.

He's falling in love ;) Totally understandable... we all have so you're in good company! You'll worship them like we do soon... that's one part of the rabbit hole. Like other's have said every song is unique but uniquely Nightwish at the same time, every song is your new favourite song and the band grows on you till they feel like family. Life is never dull when there's Nightwish to be listened too. Going to see them in November this year and from the fan cams I've seen of the current tour they are just getting better and better and Floor is the consummate front person that sucks you in like a tractor beam so you can't escape. Also the keyboardist (Toumas) is the brains and vision of the band, he writes the music, scores the orchestral bits, writes the lyrics... he's called The Metal Mozart for very good reason. He's a musical genius level that most people never understand let alone reach.

Floor will be one of the most famous of the Valkyries.The way her knees buckle slightly before leaning into to the last extended peak blast at 14:26 , gives chills. What a majestic sample of womanhood! With her shoes on she is 6'3...an impressive, unavoidable presence on stage.

Great reaction! What is somewhat overlooked is that, at festivals, usually there is a wide spectrum of people attending. Some might be there for other bands. But half way through this performance, I'm pretty sure we can count 82k arms raised screaming "hey! hey!"

Yeah. Floor is a Valkyrie come to Midgard to show us mortals what singing is supposed to be. To be stunned is common, and it is not unmanly to shed a tear when faced with the divinity that is the voice of Floor Jansen. Tuomas is the keyboardist, the Metal Mozart, and the creative genius behind the band. I would recommend Romanticide next. Maybe Ghost River....both from this same show. Have fun, man. This band is amazing.

Floor has also done a projekt with Northwart. Her previous bands Revamp and After Forever are great. She does 6 or 7 songs on a show called De beste zangers. She had a soled out show in Amsterdam. 3 solosongs,fire...storm...me without you.

But nope, she still had enough for 2 more songs after this one, 13 of 15 in the set. And wouldn't you know it... she sang those like they were the FIRST in the set. 👍 So now that you've gotten to know Floor's versatility and range a little better, your curiosity is going to take you to... "How will she use that in the next song?" You are more than welcome to explore the "less than favorites" of the Nightwish arsenal, but a "bad" song? lol Nope! Nightwish is a journey into the mind of keyboard player, main songwriter and lyricist, Tuomas Holopainen. Unfortunately, as of January 12, 2021, he became the ONLY songwriter/lyricist for Nightwish. If there are contributions from any other member? Is yet to be revealed. Bassist and vocalist, Marko Hietala, resigned from the band and has yet to announce a return, if any. More about Floor's singing.... Floor Jansen is a "highly sensitive person". What that means is, well.... she is highly sensitive.... To crowds (parties or gatherings), constantly loud sounds (noise), that alone makes you wonder how in the world is she in a metal band? Lmao Music is fixed, formed, organized.... as opposed to the sounds I'm referring to. She can feel the vibe in a room when she walks in and all the conversations going on at once are overwhelming for her. So as an example of how much all this affects her, I would tell you that after all the cities and all the touring so far and as they are here in the US, she posted a couple photos from Redwood Forrest for her fans. I think it was time to let them know she needed to do that thing she does with nature when she's feeling "trapped".... by the touring, by noises, by cities. She waits until they go to a city with a Forrest or National Park and visits... to pick a nice quiet spot to unwind usually with lots of trees, close her eyes wash away all those impure energies and link with nature's energy if only for a moment. That does wonders for her mind, body, and soul. That, to most people, may not seem like much, but that's exactly the reason she can put so much feeling and emotion into her voice. She reads the lyrics and grabs a certain understanding of what they mean and the meaning of the song and she just lets nature take its course. And isn't it wonderful? You will understand more of that also as you go. She just has that voice and puts just the right sound and emotion to it that can make almost everyone cry, or at least gets their eyes watery. And now that you've managed the first 2 songs in the Nightwish intro, get ready for the 3rd. This one is more rockish, more epic, and will show you a little more of what the guitar player, Emppu Vuorinen, can do. He really shines in this one.
