Reaction To NORDIC HILLBILLIES - Vårstädning med Leif & Billy (Swedish Comedy) 

This is a really early clip, they later went on to get a more professional TV show called Leif & Billy on SVT. Much of their comedy relies on their heavy northern accent.

"Leif och Billy" takes place in Sörbäcken, a fictional area in the northern part of Sweden. In the tv-show (produced by the governmental channel) they mention it being a couple of hours to Luleå, so I'd say this is inland. Perhaps northwest of Luleå.

Leif och Billy has become a new Swedish classic ^^ This show is based somewhere in the North of Sweden. Leif tries to live up to the male stereotype to protect his fragile fragile ego, and Billy's just a kind hearted dummy. It's a simple concept, but it's very well put together

Yay. Loved that channel and the TV show. This is one of my favorite episodes. His name is said more literally, you'll notice it I guess. Funny when you say it like the word for leif.

Haha, does sweden have hillbillies. Usually calling someone a farmer usually brings out the point. Not all farmers are hillbillies though. But all hillbillies are from a farm or adjacent.

A a swede... Who hasn't seen Leif & Billy, they are hilarious!! 🤣They have made 7 seasons 50 episodes on TV, this was a early one from their RU-vid channel, they later got an own TV show called Leif & Billy and they got even better, this one isn't very fun in comparison to other episodes.

And yeah, we do have some hillbilly equivalents, it's just small. Sweden is heavily, heavily urbanized, the vast majority live in cities, but there is a countryside population, especially in the sparsely populated far north. The stereotype about them is that they love to go hunting and fishing, drinking beer, poaching, and that they say very little and do not express their emotions much.

Stereotypas. But there's fire where it's smoke. In many parts of Rural Sweden you have a different culture. It's more about cars and hunting and hard drinking. Some specific interests that set us apart city to countryside. But as always ppl in general are not this extreme:)

Their early stuff is a bit overplayed, but they get much better when they get their own TV show.

leif o billy Radiodejt is one of the best

It plays on the stereotype of the northern Swedish hillbillys. If you know Swedish they also have a dialect and a way of speaking which adds to it. They did some great episodes these two guys, just like for yt back then. Then they stopped and got picked up by state television and then it just got downhill and thye never uploaded anything more on yt.

The translation is... off. Somebody took liberties. "Vad fan håller du på med" doesn't mean "what in the biblical hell are you doing", it means "what the hell/fuck are you doing" ("fan", pronounced fa'an, is a common swear; it is a euphemism for Satan), and "nu kommer du hit" doesn't mean "get your ass back in here so I can show you the true meaning of pain", it just means "get over here, _now."_ And he doesn't say "I'm tired of your bullshit", he says "du ska få se på fan", which means "I'm going to give you hell".

I've seen much of Leif and Billy and most of it is brilliant. However this must be the least funny one.

This is 100% accurate about rural Sweden. My dad moved there from Stockholm and kept referring to his new neighbors as Nordic Country Breed (A horse breed). But he loved them.

This is a bit too spot on to be entirely comfortable... Leif and Billy are what we call "gamm-pojkar" (old-boys), meaning grown men that never moved away from their childhood home and never married/had a family (or did very late), hence continued to behave like boys and never really transitioned into men. They can be sort of wild and crazy (especially when having a fight with their adult sibblings under the same roof) and often extremly socially awkward out in the public. Often, but not always, heavy drinking were part of it too. They were more common a generation ago or so then now it seems... But the legends of these characters lives on. I have whole bunch of insane stories very similar to this from my own childhood, absolute chaos.

Most of the humor is in the accent and choice of words. Lost in translation. This isn’t my type of humor still.

There is one episode in English. Leif and Billy are hunting guides. Their first client is a woman from Australia. At least that's what she sounds like.

The picture is a random woman working in my hometown - She once got on a list of the top 10 ugliest women in the world and that list got known and since then her picture has popped up in different productions. I don't think she knows about this herself. For me it's hilarious since i bought candy from the lady my whole life.

The episode -"Skattjakten" is one of my favourites, its a must watch 😅

Its not so good humor quality, but i like the concept. I really dont like It, its not enough thought behind it. There are more fun people in the north in reality.

OH yes we have hillbillies here, more than people who lives in towns I think. They often look like these guys too.

This is supposed to be some unnamed part of northern Sweden. We don't know either really. Na, maybe there is some itty bitty part of truth in this but... If you can find "Brorsor forever" they are kind of like this but in the city. Stockholm I think it was. These guys are just totally insane. Please don't think we're like this. Omg what a reputation we get from these..... Guys. Lol We just love these insane guys anyway. They are the nicest ppl in real life
