Queen IS one of the best live bands ever, if not THE BEST ever, you said you’ve only seen a few of their live performances, which is why you need to see more, and then you’ll know. they gave their all on the stage and were not afraid of experimenting and doing things other people would consider “weird”, they set the bar so high i haven’t seen any other like them. the only band in history in which every member wrote a #1 hit. Freddie, Roger, Brian & John were something else!
@leonarae8496

Freddie can conduct an audience like a conductor conducts his orchestra. No one can control the crowd like he can. I second all the requests below, Somebody to Love live in Montreal, White Queen live at Odeon, Hammersmith, who Wants to Live Forever in Budapest. But the best live performance to see Freddie in control of 250,000 people, is Love of my Life in Rio. You won’t believe it, a crowd of that many people who can’t speak English, are singing the song to Freddie.
@WobblyBiped
@WobblyBiped 4 года назад
Freddie began with what is called "call and response." It's a very old technique to engage the audience with the singer/speaker. Freddie was a master of connecting with his audience, and thus his legendary crowd control and stage presence.

About Queen live: I made an experiment and Google best live band. There were different lists with completely different order from position 2 to 20 or what. But No. 1 was always QUEEN. By the way, the same result in my native language German. Just try this on your own. And go on watching live stuff from them. You can only come to the same result :-)

This is my favourite version of this song. I love Freddies vocals, Johns bass and Rogers backing vocals and drums - all amazing . I never listen to the studio version of this anymore as this version has spoiled me. Another fantastic song from this concert - the Saturday night concert - is Another One Bites the Dust - they are all at their very best in this and Freddie has heaps of fun and the guys are amazing. By the way I agree with Son - I’m sorry I don’t know your name - but I’m with you and agree with your opinion on Springsteen. Please do AnotherOne Bites the Dust Sat Wembley, also Somebody to Love at Montreal 1981, Radio Gaga at Wembley, Saturday night and from the same show the Rock Medley is a must see.

47 Year old here, and totally agree with your son. Springsteen is SO overrated. Wouldn’t rank him anywhere near Queen, Zeppelin, The Beatles, or dozens of others. Queen smokes him. I don’t like all live version better, but I DO this version better than the studio one, because I love how Freddie and Roger duet. Best live is Somebody to Love in Montreal ‘81 (actually, that entire concert was phenomenal) and White Queen at the Hammersmith Odeon.

Awesome reaction! You guys are a great pair. Yes, Queen is often better live then in the studio. This is strange for people to understand sometimes because their studio music have lots of harmonies and overdubs. Another great performance from this concert is Now I am Here live at Wembley 1986 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--iCY-noGbas.html. Bruce Springsteen is a great entertainer, but he is only an American phenomenon, Queen is more world wide. Queen is the 4th best selling artists of all time, and the second best selling band of all time behind The Beatles. Bruce Springsteen is the 17th best selling artist of all time, so sales wise at least they are not in the same league, of course sales alone isn't everything chartmasters.org/2017/10/best-selling-artists-albums-and-singles-of-all-time/18/

I have to agree that Springsteen is overrated. I rank Springsteen with the Bryan Adams and John Mellencamp camp...second tier at best, but appealing to a mainstream/pop rock crowd. They are talented, but not on the same level as Queen or even someone like Iron Maiden (who also have a great control of the crowd, but still not on Freddie's level). I understand how Dad feels though...you always hold one of your favourite bands in the highest esteem...nobody can touch them in their eyes. Another fun reaction to watch, including the "debate" lol! As usual, I will leave a suggestion: The Outlaws - Green Grass and High Tides (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DhiyKZsAW44.html). Cheers!

There's an anecdote going around that someone once asked Freddie which instrument he was playing. His reply is reported to have been "the audience". The best crowd control I've ever seen myself was Shirley Manson of Garbage. There was an open air event and the crowd was restless and all Shirley did was go on stage and stand in front of the microphone. 30+k people went quiet, turned their heads and watched her closely. That was astonishing.

The best live set was done by Queen for Live Aid. Widely considered the best ever live performance. It's awesome. Queen Live Aid 1985. Then probably Love of My Life live in Rio 1986. 300,000 people sing along and bear in mind English was not their language. If you want to see how Freddie influences (bosses) a crowd watch Green Day Hyde Park 2017 Bohemian Rhapsody - 25 years after his death and 42 after the song was written. For something a little different watch Disturbed cover of The Sound of Silence on the Conan Show (2016). David had a very heavy cold at the time! The official music video is rather epic. The songs lyrics are as relevant today as they were whe written in 1963. Watch more live stuff. Enjoy

Freddie Mercury was a unique vocalist and a special, charismatic performer. I agree with your son, I have never been a Springsteen fan either but I will agree until I saw him live with the E Street Band I did not understand it. I am still not a fan but I respect him as a performer and that is major respect because it is difficult to do what they do live. Bruce is a real hardworking artist and it fits his blue collar, New Jersey reputation. I just do not understand musically why the big following. Juxtapose with Bono of U2 who's passion and musicality just works for me and the world over. Personally, a front man like Freddie Mercury is a real plus when you are seeing them live. However, I never understood the Grateful Dead and their following. Sorry, I grew up in the bay area and saw incredible acts at the Filmore, Winterland and later the Day on the Green at the Oakland Coliseum and Candlestick. There were so many great bands that I can only say some bands like Cream, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, that were mesmerizing but not always because of the energy of the Front man mainly because of the incredible performance of the musicians. For me nobody tops Robert Plant but he was not there controlling you by engaging you, his control was you could not take your eyes off of him and his vocal prowess was so soulful and sexy every woman wanted him and every man wanted to be him. Today, Floor Jansen is one of those incredible talents that combines overwhelming talent and unparalleled stage presence.

We allowing reactions to music with swears as well? 😛 (if yes, this opens up more live and band song options.... Hehe) There have been a few bands I've seen that control the crowd, and have fantastic stage presence. MUSE is tremendous live (my recommendation is Knights of Cydonia at Roman Coliseum) . Sigur Ros was otherworldly live, bringing in some 3D projections, with at one point them seemingly looking like they were traveling through space. Nine Inch Nails. Daughters (last show I've been to before COVID. They were literally INSANE live). Perturbator (excellent EDM)/Industrial group. The crowd basically made a dance pit, and I was dancing with a bunch of people I didn't know. Lol probably the funnest live show I've been to). Julie Christmas, my personal favorite female vocalist, showed excellent stage presence during her tour with Cult of Luna, in how she seemed almost otherworldly and intense at the same time, like some kind of spirit out for revenge. I've heard plenty of Queen a long time ago, but wouldn't know what else to recommend from them live. I'm sure you'll get something great though. 🙂

I'm with the dad on this. I reckon son has never heard anything from Greetings or The Wild & Innocent era (Kitty's Back being my favorite). There are certain bands, Bruce Springsteen being one of them, where you can't listen to the greatest hits album or what they play on the radio and make a judgement about them. And dad has seen The Boss live so he definitely knows the power of that music. I'll put it this way, for every emotion you've ever felt in your life, and I mean ANY emotion for ANY situation you've ever been in, Bruce has a song that perfectly conveys how you feel inside. I can guarantee that.

Slightly ironic that Freddy takes more of Bowie's lower line while the higher parts here are mostly sung by Roger Taylor on drums... Also when it comes to crowd control, you might want to Metallica Sad But True live 1992 from the Live Shit video. PG13 though...

Instead of a live Queen reaction, how about something a little different.....there’s a video out there that people are reacting to, where 65,000 people at a Green Day concert sing Queens “Bohemian Rhapsody”. It’s quite impressive. And the name of your channel should be “Son Reacts! “ Because I’m with him, The Boss does not do it for me either. I prefer my music heavier. Besides, my dad played the heck out of him growing up which made me not like him even more.

98.7% of all Queen is better live than studio version. Somebody to Love, live in Montreal is the best video ever recorded.

Yes Metallica was at the monsters of rock in the late 80s. As well as Dokken, Scorpions, Kingdom come and Van Halen. Killer concert. Metallica came on 2nd....van Halen headlined and played under the lights.

Oueen is always amazing but Oueen live is absolutely unbelievable live. In my opinion so much better live, if you can belive it. So many "artists' today lip sync because they don't have the chops. Queen sounded better live and that was hard to beat. Music has gone downhill. Lipsyncing is not something they did. How can anyone compare Freddie to anyone, including Bruce Springfield!

I’m shocked that you haven’t reacted to Somebody to Love-Live in Montreal 1981. Trust me, it borders on a religious experience. And, this is coming from someone who considers himself an Agnostic-minded Atheist.
