Devin made a point a great point when he said Larkin is the last player left. I understand its been a while since we have won a cup however context is important to some of us 😆 We have gradually gotten better and not to mention have built a solid if not elite farm system. And we have Raymond and Seider without a #1 pick in the draft. Now we have Patrick Kane and Alex D oh and Tarasenko. I have actually heard podcasts say Stevie should be on the Hotseat. I made the comment that some are not old enough to remember the late 70s and early 80 Red Wings so they should be thankful🤣I think the identity is being formed and all we need now is to tighen up the defense a bit and playoffs here we come.
YES! Is current coaching sufficient? Just asking. I remember the Deadwing days and remember Scotty Bowman turning the team around by convincing Yzerman to play defense as opposed to going for his usual 150 point season. Can this coach create a defensive system? I do realize that Scotty Bowman is a one in a million type of person. Obviously the rules have changed and the league has changed. Can't play the neutral zone trap. Apparently can't play the 'Left wing lock' either. I can observe that Yzerman wants a defense first oriented club though.

Tarasenko and Kane will be very fun to watch for a full season. Love Kaner, so happy he stayed. I don’t want Stamkos, he’s a PP specialist and slowing down significantly. Not worth that money at all.
Everyone is talking as if albert johansson should be bottom pair or rotated, he played big minute with the griffins (i know its not the same as the nhl) but he was defensively reliable, so put him with moritz which will free him up to be more offensive while still being defensively solid. Leave edvinson on the 2nd pair so we at least have something reliable on that line.
Getting Kane and Tarasenko definitely helps alot and makes the top 6 legit. I would have liked a couple of years of Stamkos. I didn't realize Cambell too has Michigan connections, Cossa is getting to know quite a few other pro goalies and hopefully learning valuable information. The defense is a bit of a mess and needs to be cleaned up. Excellent show
I think you guys are underestimating Vlad. Yes, he’s not scoring 40, but with our top 6, and what vlad still is, we can still see close to 30 and like 30 assists. He is still a very good player. ELITE? No, but he knows how to score, and still has all of skill sets still in tact. If he had started the year on a team not OTT, I’m sure his counting stats would be better.

There has to be another move coming to make the blue-line better. I can’t go through another season with Jeff Petry as the best option on the right side behind Moritz Seider. Don’t try to sell me on Gustafsson or Chariot playing on their weak side. This would make this offseason a really good one.
I think if you watch Chariot he plays against tough rough competition that only one other player can handle, Moe S. He if plays with an edge as proved down the stretch Ben is a crucial asset. Have played against him?

Looks like the Wings will be losing Veleno. There won't be enough cap space left to sign him after the arbitration ruling as they need money for Raymond and Seider. I worry that because the Wings are taking so long to develop this team, their first line center will be into his 30s, and they will be starting another mini rebuild again.
