If you like the rhythm of this song, I HIGHLY recommend “Screaming Eagles” Joakim wrote the song while he was in angry about something and he transferred that anger into the song to show the fierceness of the 101st Infantry Division as they and just a handful of other army units, which was literally like two national guard units, the 30th Infantry Division from the Carolinas and I believe it was one from New York as well. Anyways, they all fought together, our numbered, out gunned, and STILL! Still managed to win! Also, NUTS stood for Not Understanding Terms of Surrender

Nuts! Its a great song to wake up, but it suffers from the age. If they would do a re recording, it would be out of the top! - The German Subscriber

to be fair, none of the German Officers had an idea what "nuts" had to do with a battle..."they dont even have warm clothing, nor ammo, why do they ask for nuts?" *german accent*

HELL YES! This was the very first song by them I heard and immediately fell in love back in 2014. Gott Mit Uns was my most anticipated but I was really waiting for this one too lol.

This battle is studied today. It is a classic double envelopment akin to the one used by Hannibal against the Romans. The 5,700 Swedish Cavalry broke both sides of the 4,000 Saxon Cavalry and then turned to hit the combined 16,000 Saxon and Russian Infantry from the rear while those soldiers were actively engaged with the Elite THREE THOUSAND AND SEVEN HUNDRED Caroleans. Yes that's right 4 to 1 infantry difference. They had no cannons so they used the 32 captured Saxon pieces to hit the enemy line from behind. Now personally for me the song the best lines are not so much sung as shouted. "FALL IN LINE!" "Battle Formations!" "SHOW NO FEAR!" "Riding them down!" "BREAK THEIR WILL!" "Show them no mercy, Caroleans attack!" It for me makes it feel as though we are in that battle line. We know our duty. And in truth we know if we fail we will be slaughtered. They say the cornered rat fights the hardest. But what about cornered Lions? Sun Tzu put it well. "Throw your soldiers into positions whence there is no escape, and they will prefer death to flight. If they will face death, there is nothing they may not achieve. Officers and men alike will put forth their uttermost strength. Soldiers when in desperate straits lose the sense of fear."

Charles the XII was like a fan of Alexander the great and you really could say he was the minor version of him. Leading armies at young age and winning big outnumbered battles with very low losses on his side.

I'd also recommend giving the Swedish version, Ett slag färgat rött, a listen (with English lyrics, of course). While the English version presents the Caroleans as badasses, the Swedish version presents them as psychopaths who left their honor behind and slaughtered men who had already surrendered, showing no mercy to soldiers who had already given up hope. If you're interested, Duke of Txtspeak has a pretty good video with the English translation of the Swedish lyrics.

At the end of the battle the swedish caroleans massacred 500 russian prisoners no one really knows why but i know that the russians at the beginning said to the saxon commander to kill them all and that no swedish solder will live after the fight because of the numbers advantage they thought they'd win easily so in revenge the caroleans killed them all

This whole album is about Swedish history and it’s amazing. And this is one of I think two times where Sabaton describes war crimes from the perpetrators perspective (the other is We Burn, which is about the Yugoslav Wars in the 90s. There’s a reason that one is never sung live…)

Swedish people say the same thing when they do American songs. It does for everyone really now that I think about it. It's the power of pride in other to attain goals for their people. Well in most of their songs.

This album is one of my favorites the swedish version of this song is fantastic it talks about the brutality that was the Swedish Carolinas and this particular battle was not a battle it was a massacre the Sweads were tired and hungry so when this fight began they were showing no mercy to the Russians and Saxons

You should listen to a few swedish songs, while the songs might sound the same the context changes a lot depending on the song. For instance in the Swedish version of this song they talk about how sweden takes revenge on the Russian prisoners that had surrendered by killing all of them at the price of loosing the swedish honor. The English album is good but it gives you a more general feel for things, the Swedish album is more different in its tone and feels well more majestic and personal so to say.

With 100% luck because Karl did not wait for the rest of the army and 10* amount of canons, he was over confident after beating Russia in four straight battles and did not listen to his generals that wanted to fall back and wait. And Russia did not even manage to stop Sweden there and catch them, The war continued for 12 years after that battle, so no they where not a stronger army then Sweden.
