I was there!! It was UNBELIEVABLE that night…it felt like literal magic in the air…at least from my perspective. I’ve never experienced a drum corps crowd louder than that one since.

The lady that got dropped finished the show but she received a concussion from it. They also had another performance after the announcement of the scores and I’m pretty sure she performed that show as well

I’ve been to hundreds of live concerts, broadway, etc. this night was my age out year and I was in the stands to see this live. I don’t think I’ll ever experience something like that night again. Truly amazing!

The Wolf HunterZ, I'm from the city of Rockford, and have seen them many times. If you've never heard of the movie from back around 1960, starring Kirk Douglas, you ought to see if you can find it. It was an amazing movie. In addition to what you said about the story, it happened around 200BC, where he was a slave. Through a bad move on his part, he was re-sold as a gladiator trainee, ending up in the arena many times. Eventually, he started the revolt, and was its general of tens of thousands. Finally, the Roman army stopped them near Rome, and the general who stopped them really wanted to do away with Spartacus. So, he announced to the slave army that if they would reveal him, he'd let them go. Spartacus started to do it himself, but was instantly drowned out by the entire slave army saying, "I'm Spartacus!", which is done in this show. As a result, every last soldier was crucified along the Appian Way for around 50 miles. Hearing "I'm Spartacus!" yelled by many doesn't make sense without this background info. I don't know how many Academy Awards it received, but it was huge.

I’ve heard that the girl legit sustained a concussion and was knocked out cold when getting carried off. Don’t know if that’s true but I know she got a concussion! Incredible commitment all the way thru. If you watch, even the drum major looked back like he knew she hit the ground too hard, but they all stayed in character.

How awesome of you to expand your horizons to include even this amazing--but very niche--activity!! Thank you.

This is the most fun thing anyone could ever be a part of. The build up of practices and the ridiculous amount of hours to get to this point. Best times of my life for sure.

Cool fact... not the first time Regiment made a run like this at finals for a gold medal. Look at 1996. Started 3rd or 4th in quarterfinals, ended tying with none other than the Blue Devils for the championship.

If you have not yet seen their 1996 performance, "Defiant Heart".... you need to!! In my opinion, it blows this out of the water.

So glad yall loved such an iconic show!!! If you want another show with a great (but totally different) story, you gotta watch the Bluecoats 2022 show "Riffs & Revelations" its one of my all time favorite shows. Scored 2nd ace overall, but the percussion (drumline & front ensemble) got 1st place overall. Such a trippy show, with a silly, but also introspective story. Some incredible music paired with awesome visuals. You guys would LOVE it!

A few from the Cavaliers would be Frameworks from 2002, Spi. Cycle fromm 2003, 007 from 2004, Machine from 2006, Samaurai from 2008, Mad World from 2010, XtraordinarY from 2011, and Secrete Society from 2013. This was a great show. Its interesting looking at some of the early 2000 shows and how its changed as of now compared to before.

This was such a clencher of a show because Blue Devils had been dominating all that season and had won Quarterfinals and Semifinals. Phantom just barely eaked out a win with the smallest possible difference possible between scores, just a tenth of a point. Blue Devils don't get enough credit for this year, imo. Their show was also great, it just didn't have the story GE that this show had.

You guys have got to check out Carolina Crown at some point if you’re going to be getting into DCI. They have had some unbelievable horn lines. 2012 and 2013 are phenomenal shows

DCI- brought back great memories... I marched with the Blue Devils in the 90s right after high school on their drum line... only did it for one season. It takes a lot of dedication. 12 hour practice days in the burning heat of the summer. It is a great honor but it basically takes up your whole summer.

Ahhhhh Mars....surface of the sun in day, Arctic cold at night....wind and the petrochem smell...the crucible that made us. Holy ground for BD alums especially from our era. What year did you march? I was 84.

You've totally got to check out Carolina Crown 2016 if you like more story based stuff. Also 2016 bluecoats for the show that virtually changed DCI forever.
